The God Of Light And Darkness - Chapter 18 Genocide
The city by the border of Gorgon Province was shrouded in darkness.
Sounds of the air raid sirens, gunshots, explosions, metal hitting metal, and screams could be heard everywhere.
In the dimly lit city by the red lights, literal shadows could be seen fastly moving around.
Everywhere the shadows go through, they leave a trail of blood and corpses behind.
Be it soldiers, Mages and civilians, those pitch black figures spared no one. They slashed and killed everything in their way.
Their blank faces didn’t change even when killing children.
Although they weren’t particularly strong, the high amount of number was able to overwhelm those that fought with everything they got to protect the innocent civilians.
Light Mages could be seen fighting those shadows in every inch of the city, but it didn’t matter how many of those pitch black humanoid being they cut down, more appeared to take their place.
Facing with such enemy, they felt their confidence fall and only despair could be seen in their eyes as they watched the citizens being slaughtered on front of them.
The pungent smell of blood soon overlapped the city. Lifeless bodies lying on the floor.
People knelled in the ground, praying, asking for mercy, shouting for any God’s help.
The demonic being with cyan eyes casually strolled by the the streets as his shadowy minions carried out the massacre.
In his arms, a beautiful woman drenched in blood was peacefully lying.
His eyes never stopped to look at the bodies in the floor and neither at the people being slaughtered around him.
His eyes remained forward, he kept walking.
*Bang*
The demon stopped with the sound of gunshot behind him.
Surprisingly there was someone that got close to the demon and actually fired at him.
Most of the soldiers and Mages died before they could get even 100 meters close to him
The demon turned around and faced the assaulter.
As the shadows were about to pounce at the assailant, the demons raised his hand and stopped their moves.
The bullet that was shot had been stopped the passive Mage Barrier around the demon, not causing any damage to him.
Private Hei, the one that got close and shot the demon, felt his legs became weak when face with those cold, filled with rage, cyan eyes.
Despite being a normal person without a single ounce of Mana inside him, despite the fear overwhelming his mind, Hei kept on his feet and back straight when faced him the harbinger of death.
“Fil-filthy de-de-de-demon.” Hei said quivering, “G-g-g-go back from the h-h-h-hole you came from, freak.”
“You have courage…” The demon opened his mouth and spoke coldly, “To come all the way from the top of the wall until here just to die…are you a fool or a selfless idiot?”
Hei shivered as he heard each of the demon’s words.
“It doesn’t matter, you are going to die here.” The cyan’s eyes shone with an intense light as he lifted his hand.
“Before I die, may I ask something?” Hei was already prepared to die when he definitely decided to confront this monster. All he really wanted to do was buy some time so that more people could get to the bunker or escape from the city.
“Yes, you may.”
The red-eyed wolf beside the demon showed it’s fangs and growled at Hei. It showed that was ready to pounce at the soldier that dared to shout at it’s master’s face.
Seeing that this was his end, Hei closed his eyes before asking his last question, “What’s you name, demon?”
“First of all, I’m not a demon…yet. Answering your question…” The demon’s eyes gleamed coldly as he spouted those last words, “I’m Daemon.”
The red-eyed wolf immediately pounced at Hei after the demon gave his permission.
Hei screamed as his body was pierced by those sharp fangs.
It took mere seconds before he became a lifeless body at the wolf’s jaws.
“Good work, Kolvar.” Daemon complimented the wolf, “Let’s get going, it looks like Ajax isn’t here.”
The demon followed by a pitch black, red-eyed wolf and an army of shadowy figures slowly left the silent city.
Millions of lives lost in a single night. No one was spared of this slaughter, but the demon’s bloody path wasn’t over yet.
Slowly walking forward, in search of a person only based on a name, without much memory as to why he was completely filled with rage and desire of revenge against the person as Ajax, he kept moving, turning the lands of the Gorgon Province red with all the blood spilled by him and his army.
Darkness spread out across the cursed land. The merciless army continued forward, reaping any life that was met in it’s way.
After each city, after each slaughter, Daemon became stronger and stronger.
No one seemed to be able to stop him, not even the Deity Mage in the Province’s capital.
It was truly a genocide, one which would never be forgotten.
…
Neo’s eyes flared open at this moment.
His pupils gleamed with a maddening and ruthless light.
Instead of golden, his eyes were completely cyan now.
“Kill…” A cold smile slowly creeped out from his lips.
Right before he could stand up, his hand swiftly moved to his pocket and retrieved the pocket knife he stored there.
*Puchi*
Blood dripped from the point of the knife that was on the other side of Neo’s hand after he once again pierced himself.
With the pain overwhelming his senses, it slowly brought clarity back to Neo.
His eyes slowly recovered it’s original golden colors.
[That’s dangerous…] Neo thought after he recovered control over his body, [Why I had to go through those memories right as I’m almost losing control because of the hunger.]
Remembering what happened in Gorgon Province, Neo’s eyes gleamed with a cold light.
“Ajax…” Neo said through his gritted teeth.
Although he would like to deny he was one who made the genocide in the Province, he knew it was his fault.
Even if he could argue that it wasn’t actually him but rather another version of himself, one filled with rage, desire for vengeance, and hunger for souls, he still blamed himself for those actions.
He blamed himself because at the time he wasn’t completely against it. His mind was so clouded with rage because of what Ajax did that he didn’t really minded his irrational actions then.
It was only after that he blamed himself over almost killing that entire planet. If a Pantheon God hadn’t stop him, he would have killed Ajax.
All those lives were lost by his hand for nothing because the God intervened in his revenge.
Neo was ready to die and be tortured in the depths of hell to atone for his sins after commiting suicide, once he has killed Ajax.
But because of God, he had to stay living, carrying the burden of living, carrying the sins on his back.
Daemon would never stop.
To achieve his goal, he would do anything.
This time, however, he have the chance to do differently. That’s how it goes, no more innocent slaughtering, as long as they meddle in his business and neither enter in his path.
Innocent or not, those who dare to block his path will mercilessly be killed by him. Why be merciful for those that wish to hind his progress?
He would never ask for forgiveness for what he had done, consciously or not, in the past. He will accept whatever the price he had to in the end, but before that, he must complete his mission, revenge…
Beneath Neo was a small puddle of sewat mixed with blood that came from his hand. Neo hated feeling everything other people experienced and lived until the moment they were killed by him.
If it wasn’t for his strong mindset, he would have gone completely mad and had more identity crisis, just like some crisis he had in the past.
Private Hei was the last memories he had to go through, since he was the last person that was killed in that city. The memories Neo experienced this time were all from the people of that particular city.
As the woman with golden hair…
Neo’s eyes lost focus as his memories wandered in the past, a few weeks before he slaughtered the people of that city.
His face showed loneliness and sadness. His usual cold face cracked in several expression for a few seconds before it returned to normal.
Neo recovered his focus and sighed in desolation.
There was nothing he could do, nothing that could bring her back.
His golden eyes reddened as tears threatened to fall, but he recovered himself at the same moment and calmed down.
Turning his head to the side, he glanced at the window and that it was already night time.
[I don’t time to think about the past…i have to focus in future.] He thought to himself and finally completely calmed down his mind and heart.
[This is the perfect time to solve my hunger and instability problem.] Staring at the complete dark sky outside, Neo saw the chance to satiate the hunger that was troubling him.
Neo reached for something inside his clothes and retrieved the white, smiling mask he got from the school.
Throwing it on the bed, Neo followed to go to his wardrobe.
Neo’s lips moved upwards as he said, “Time to hunt…”
