The Goddess and the Ugly Duckling - Chapter 13
On her bed, Xiaoya sat alone silently.
Xiaoya broke away from Lu Xiaobei, wanting to go find it, “I lost you phone.”
Xiaoya: “Why?”
Yu Xiaoya’s reply:
Under the lit street lights, Xiaoya’s head hung low, the blood drained from her face, while her gaze was transfixed on Lu Xiaobei’s hand, grabbing one last chance to say, “Maybe it fell out when we were on the Ferris wheel.”
So Xiaoya followed up by saying, “But how come I never heard anything?” Lu Xiaobei had lent Xiaoya her phone while they were on the Ferris wheel.

A friend here actually asked whether or not I’m beautiful. Because the friends of beautiful people are often times beautiful themselves, and like knows like, you know? After I scrolled back through my previous answers, I realised I never mentioned myself very much.
My goddess is exactly like this, she never looks at others with any kind of prejudice. (It’s possible this is also because none of the she meets are as good as her in terms of grades or appearance, though…)
Xiaoya gently pushed Lu Xiaobei away, and declared, “Captain will just buy a new one, while I repay you for the old one, so neither of those conflict.”
The things I like the most about my goddess is how different she is from other beautiful girls. She’s never lords herself above others, pretending to be good girl in front the teachers while acting like a female overlord with the other students. My goddess treats everyone fairly as they come. Never acting all high and mighty, nor does she act all bossy. There are times when she seems out of reach and a bit indifferent, but that’s just due to her personality.
Xiaoya hurried stood up, then apologised nervously, “I’m really sorry.” The passer-by in return let out a cold snort, but said nothing more before they simply turned and left.
Right then, the owner of that gorgeous figure sold her looks while using a bewitching tone to say, “This money is only my allowance as well. So, Xiaoya, I really have no problem when it comes to buying another phone.”
Xiaoya turned to look behind her, and just so happened to catch sight of Mr. Qi and Gao Heng in the doorway of a small shop, with Gao Heng waving his arms while calling out to her.
At this winter camp, we had two teachers as our team leaders. Mr. Qi played along with us really well, but in comparison Miss Xu was considerably more strict. I didn’t like her in the beginning.
If we’re talking in beauty terms, and the score is the ten point system like before, then… using my own built in filter to see myself in the best light, I’d give myself a score of three. But my goddess told me that Miss Xu was actually a really good teacher, though, and was someone who cared about us a lot. Unlike the other teachers at our school, she guides her students, and when she meets with with other teachers more qualified than her or the principal, also becomes a yes-man. But when we do something wrong, so long as Mr. Qi is around, she would go confront him instead of taking our her resentment on us.

So, if not for this winter camp, the paths of me and my goddess would’ve most likely never had crossed.
After Lu Xiaobei indicated to the officer she understood, she took Xiaoya and followed Mr. Qi back to the building where they stayed.
As if she had just woken up from a dream, Xiaoya replied, “Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about something.”
It stands to reason that the phone has been there in her pocket the entire time, so if it had no power and shut itself off, it was impossible for it to repeatedly hang up the call. Thinking this, Xiaoya reflexively touched her pocket…

Thinking about this answer of hers, Xiaoya felt Lu Xiaobei’s words were quite reasonable, and so simply replied: “Alright.”
“That’s fine then.” Lu Xiaobei now led Xiaoya by the hand before she continued, “So you don’t fall again.”
“Captain! Little Junior!”
Seeing her like that, Lu Xiaobei made her way over, pulling Xiaoya head in her embrace, “It was no easy task getting you all moisturised, but you’ve been frowning so much wrinkles might start showing.”

So my goddess told me it’s not how a person treats their superiors or the the ones at the same level you should look at, but how they treat the ones below themselves.

It’s obvious we kids are much easier to bully, yet she doesn’t go after us.
After getting to know my goddess, I learned a lot of things. Not only about how to dress up, but also about how to get to know others as well as how t get along with them.
It’s obvious we kids are much easier to bully, yet she doesn’t go after us.
Lu Xiaobei shook her head, replying, “No need. I was planning to get a new phone anyway.” Her hand moving to gently smooth out the stray tuft of hair on Xiaoya’s head, while telling her, “The thief is the one who’s guilty, you didn’t do anything wrong. So why are you crying, huh?”
Right then, the owner of that gorgeous figure sold her looks while using a bewitching tone to say, “This money is only my allowance as well. So, Xiaoya, I really have no problem when it comes to buying another phone.”

Xiaoya heard this, but still replied, “Captain, I already know you don’t have any problems when it comes to money. Plus, I know my family has less money than you. But I will still insist on paying you back for the phone I lost. And if you don’t want the old one, I will compensate you for one that’s new.”
My goddess is exactly like this, she never looks at others with any kind of prejudice. (It’s possible this is also because none of the people she meets are as good as her in terms of grades or appearance, though…)
Somewhere on her cheek, an ticklish feeling lingered, feeling as though a pair of lips still touched her there, like a blooming rose with a sliding droplet of dew. While in her heart, a winding road of roses, resplendent as much as they where fragrant took form, but this path was sadly also filled with thorns.

PS: There may be no way for some one like me to ever become a beauty, but being an outstanding person in the eyes of my goddess is pretty good too. One day, I do hope to be like one of those “beauties” and able to stand at my goddess’ side.

Seeing Lu Xiaobei’s cool and calm demeanour, Xiaoya felt a sense of sudden enlightenment. She really was thinking too much a moment ago. That sort of intimacy is perfectly normal between girls.
Confused, Lu Xiaobei took her by the hand, asking, “Is there something wrong?”
Plus, while they were walking, Xiaoya didn’t see anything interesting, so she hadn’t taken any pictures either.
This left Lu Xiaobei no other option than to compromise, “Then at least don’t tell your family about it when you call them today.”
Holding onto Lu Xiaobei’s hands pleadingly, Xiaoya still asked, “Let’s go back and look for it, please?”

“I don’t need the money, and having another phone will be pointless.” Lu Xiaobei countered.
But, again, Lu Xiaobei only said, “Just let it go.”
Plip plop. Giant blobs of tears hurriedly poured from Xiaoya’s eyes. The globs streaming over her cheeks before falling onto her skirt, leaving water marks on the soft cloth.

On the bustling street, Xiaoya’s gaze fluttered about, the feel of her head heavy and that of her feet light. She wasn’t really looking at the road either so after taking a few steps she bumped into the person in front of her, causing them both to fall at the same time.
Xiaoya hurried stood up, then apologised nervously, “I’m really sorry.” The passer-by in return let out a cold snort, but said nothing more before they simply turned and left.
But, again, Lu Xiaobei only said, “Just let it go.”
However, Xiaoya still remained unswayed, retorting, “It was because I didn’t take care of it well.”
Lu Xiaobei walked up to Xiaoya, helping her up, “You should probably watch where you’re walking, yeah?”
All kinds of discounted clothes and knick-knacks were on sale at the fair apart from the massively popular delicacies on display. But Xiaoya and Lu Xiaobei had no interest in these sort of things, so the two slowly kept on their way and soon made it to the end of the street.

Lu Xiaobei and Xiaoya walked over to them, and Gao Heng began to speak: “I called you guys a bunch of times, you know? At first, it just hung up, but afterwards it was turned off. If the appointed time arrived I would’ve thought something happened to you guys.”
Lu Xiaobei still countered, saying, “I was right beside you at the time too, and even thought there was something fishy about that guy at the time. So no matter how you look at it, full responsibility shouldn’t be borne by just you alone.”

When Xiaoya had collided with that man from before, Lu Xiaobei did get a strange feeling. But, at the time, she was so absorbed with paying attention to Xiaoya that she never thought much of it. Only now did she realize that man had done so intentionally.

The streets were crowded, people were jostling about by the masses, and the floor was littered with all kinds of wrapping paper ad discarded garbage. Xiaoya didn’t make her way that far off before being pulled to a stop by Lu Xiaobei, however, who then told her, “Just forget about it.”

What’s more, Lu Xiaobei was someone who grew up overseas, and Xiaoya herself said she didn’t have many friends before, so there was never anyone who was so intimate with her either.

“Six.” Xiaoya replied, but there was no shock in her reaction since the Captain would be a person with a lot of money.

Comforting Xiaoya in her arms, Lu Xiaobei followed Mr. Qi to the station to make a report. Despite it being the new year period, the officer at the station had a very pleasant attitude. But he did warn them, saying, “There’s a huge crowd of people moving about because of the fair, so even if the security cameras on the shops caught sight of the culprit, it doesn’t mean we’ll be able to catch him easily.”
Xiaoya turned to look behind her, and just so happened to catch sight of Mr. Qi and Gao Heng in the doorway of a small shop, with Gao Heng waving his arms while calling out to her.

Lu Xiaobei knew whatever Xiaoya said she would go do without a second thought, so she stopped the other girl in advance, “You can tell them after you head back home, why give them something to worry over when the Spring Festival is still going on? Besides, if it’s found in the next few days, you can avoid getting scolded for no reason.”
“You called Captain’s phone?” Xiaoya got the feeling something was wrong, “But the call got hung up.”
It stands to reason that the phone has been there in her pocket the entire time, so if it had no power and shut itself off, it was impossible for it to repeatedly hang up the call. Thinking this, Xiaoya reflexively touched her pocket…

Plip plop. Giant blobs of tears hurriedly poured from Xiaoya’s eyes. The globs streaming over her cheeks before falling onto her skirt, leaving water marks on the soft cloth.
“That’s fine then.” Lu Xiaobei now led Xiaoya by the hand before she continued, “So you don’t fall again.”

Xiaoya stubbornly sat beside Lu Xiaobei, allowing the older girl to say whatever she liked, without budging an inch. Lu Xiaobei was left at a loss, and so took her laptop over to Xiaoya’s bed, opening her online banking account to show her, “Count it, how many zeros are there?”
Gao Heng made his way beside her, asking, “Do you want to report it to the police?”
Confused, Lu Xiaobei took her by the hand, asking, “Is there something wrong?”
This made Lu Xiaobei reply, “Don’t. I really was planning on changing it and getting a new one. You can ask Xiang Yi about it, and even Gao Heng. Every time a new model of the fruit brand comes out, I change phones.”
Under the lit street lights, Xiaoya’s head hung low, the blood drained from her face, while her gaze was transfixed on Lu Xiaobei’s hand, grabbing one last chance to say, “Maybe it fell out when we were on the Ferris wheel.”
It’s obvious we kids are much easier to bully, yet she doesn’t go after us.
“Six.” Xiaoya replied, but there was no shock in her reaction since the Captain would be a person with a lot of money.

Gao Heng replied, “Yep.”
Mr. Qi now spoke up, adding, “The police station in this town isn’t that far ahead, so let’s go there and file a report.”
However, Xiaoya still remained unswayed, retorting, “It was because I didn’t take care of it well.”
Lu Xiaobei and Xiaoya walked over to them, and Gao Heng began to speak: “I called you guys a bunch of times, you know? At first, it just hung up, but afterwards it was turned off. If the appointed time arrived I would’ve thought something happened to you guys.”
“Captain! Little Junior!”
Even if I get it back, I still wouldn’t want it. But having seen the state Xiaoya’s was currently in, Lu Xiaobei’s unspoken words were stuck in her throat. Instead she said, “Alright. Maybe the officers wll help us find it tomorrow.”
Xiaoya turned to look behind her, and just so happened to catch sight of Mr. Qi and Gao Heng in the doorway of a small shop, with Gao Heng waving his arms while calling out to her.
Lu Xiaobei still countered, saying, “I was right beside you at the time too, and even thought there was something fishy about that guy at the time. So no matter how you look at it, full responsibility shouldn’t be borne by just you alone.”
My goddess is exactly like this, she never looks at others with any kind of prejudice. (It’s possible this is also because none of the she meets are as good as her in terms of grades or appearance, though…)

On the bustling street, Xiaoya’s gaze fluttered about, the feel of her head heavy and that of her feet light. She wasn’t really looking at the road either so after taking a few steps she bumped into the person in front of her, causing them both to fall at the same time.
After Lu Xiaobei indicated to the officer she understood, she took Xiaoya and followed Mr. Qi back to the building where they stayed.
PS: There may be no way for some one like me to ever become a beauty, but being an outstanding person in the eyes of my goddess is pretty good too. One day, I do hope to be like one of those “beauties” and able to stand at my goddess’ side.

So, if not for this winter camp, the paths of me and my goddess would’ve most likely never had crossed.

If we’re talking in beauty terms, and the score is the ten point system like before, then… using my own built in filter to see myself in the best light, I’d give myself a score of three. I’m the type you couldn’t even find in a crowd to be honest; and if you did spot me, it would be because I’m ugly. In terms of character, I’m introverted and quiet when I’m in front of people I don’t know, but when I’m around people I am familiar with, I become a chatterbox.

On her bed, Xiaoya sat alone silently.

Seeing her like that, Lu Xiaobei made her way over, pulling Xiaoya head in her embrace, “It was no easy task getting you all moisturised[1], but you’ve been frowning so much wrinkles might start showing.”

Xiaoya gently pushed Lu Xiaobei away, and declared, “Captain will just buy a new one, while I repay you for the old one, so neither of those conflict.”
This left Lu Xiaobei no other option than to compromise, “Then at least don’t tell your family about it when you call them today.”
What’s more, Lu Xiaobei was someone who grew up overseas, and Xiaoya herself said she didn’t have many friends before, so there was never anyone who was so intimate with her either.
Xiaoya gently pushed Lu Xiaobei away, and declared, “Captain will just buy a new one, while I repay you for the old one, so neither of those conflict.”
Seeing Lu Xiaobei’s cool and calm demeanour, Xiaoya felt a sense of sudden enlightenment. She really was thinking too much a moment ago. That sort of intimacy is perfectly normal between girls.
Xiaoya broke away from Lu Xiaobei, wanting to go find it, “I lost you phone.”

A friend here actually asked whether or not I’m beautiful. Because the friends of beautiful people are often times beautiful themselves, and like knows like, you know? After I scrolled back through my previous answers, I realised I never mentioned myself very much.
Lu Xiaobei still countered, saying, “I was right beside you at the time too, and even thought there was something fishy about that guy at the time. So no matter how you look at it, full responsibility shouldn’t be borne by just you alone.”
Xiaoya broke away from Lu Xiaobei, wanting to go find it, “I lost you phone.”
It stands to reason that the phone has been there in her pocket the entire time, so if it had no power and shut itself off, it was impossible for it to repeatedly hang up the call. Thinking this, Xiaoya reflexively touched her pocket…
“Six.” Xiaoya replied, but there was no shock in her reaction since the Captain would be a person with a lot of money.

Right then, the owner of that gorgeous figure sold her looks while using a bewitching tone to say, “This money is only my allowance as well. So, Xiaoya, I really have no problem when it comes to buying another phone.”

Plus, while they were walking, Xiaoya didn’t see anything interesting, so she hadn’t taken any pictures either.
As if she had just woken up from a dream, Xiaoya replied, “Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about something.”
At this winter camp, we had two teachers as our team leaders. Mr. Qi played along with us really well, but in comparison Miss Xu was considerably more strict. I didn’t like her in the beginning.
Yu Xiaoya’s reply:
All kinds of discounted clothes and knick-knacks were on sale at the fair apart from the massively popular delicacies on display. But Xiaoya and Lu Xiaobei had no interest in these sort of things, so the two slowly kept on their way and soon made it to the end of the street.
Lu Xiaobei propped herself up using the bed, her dark blue jeans outlining a pair of straight long legs, and rounded hips, while her flexible body leaned over, and her beautiful curvature of her bust loomed near.
“I don’t need the money, and having another phone will be pointless.” Lu Xiaobei countered.
“Captain! Little Junior!”

But I will still insist on paying you back for the phone I lost. And if you don’t want the old one, I will compensate you for one that’s new.”
When Xiaoya had collided with that man from before, Lu Xiaobei did get a strange feeling. But, at the time, she was so absorbed with paying attention to Xiaoya that she never thought much of it. Only now did she realize that man had done so intentionally.
Lu Xiaobei still countered, saying, “I was right beside you at the time too, and even thought there was something fishy about that guy at the time. So no matter how you look at it, full responsibility shouldn’t be borne by just you alone.”

What’s it like being friends with a Goddess?
However, Xiaoya still remained unswayed, retorting, “It was because I didn’t take care of it well.”

Holding onto Lu Xiaobei’s hands pleadingly, Xiaoya still asked, “Let’s go back and look for it, please?”
After getting to know my goddess, I learned a lot of things. Not only about how to dress up, but also about how to get to know others as well as how t get along with them.
Gao Heng replied, “Yep.”

Thinking about this answer of hers, Xiaoya felt Lu Xiaobei’s words were quite reasonable, and so simply replied: “Alright.”
