The Goddess and the Ugly Duckling - Chapter 28
What’s it like being friends with a goddess?
Anyhow, while sitting in that class, Xiaoya let out a deep sigh. Even though it was the holiday period soon, she still couldn’t see Lu Xiaobei more than once a day regardless.
Well, before she makes a post, she would tell me about it ahead of time, every time, then she’ll make her post. Ordinary people won’t understand it all if I say it this way~
Mo Yichen stared at Mo Yichen frostily, looking at Yu Xiaoya a if she were an idiot. Xiaoya couldn’t cope with Lu Xiaobei’s anger, neither could she handle Mo Yichen’s frost. So, in an act of surrender, he said, “Alright, okay, okay. I’ll just keep studying, alright?” Taking up her pen, and pretending to take notes.

She was so busy those days she had no time to chat with her even at night, but her managerial spirit was still quite firm: don’t stay up late, don’t skip eating your vegetables, don’t forget to exercise, etcetera, etcetera…
Anyways, it’s been 30 days since my goddess has left the country, I miss her.

Anyways, it’s been 30 days since my goddess has left the country, I miss her.
Every day, promptly at 6 a.m., my goddess calls me up; at the same time in the Netherlands it’s the wee hours of the morning. My goddess still hasn’t gone to sleep as yet, because there’s not enough time for us to meet every day. My previous form was that of a couch potato, so before I used to first be bombarded by the alarm clock’s attack, then later, I would have my soul ripped awake by my mom; but the way my goddess wakes me up is…(blushes)
Surprisingly, Xiaoya’s mother was shocked by the occurrence, thinking it was brought on by her daughter’s character changing for the better, as she got up everyday before there was even light just to practice her English in stride. It made her really want to make her daughter some delicious food to make up for early hour.
That is true, though. Even though there are a lot of people who like my goddess, I believe the only one she likes is me. So my ‘sense of security’ at this instance is set to the extreme!

It was Xiaoya’s profound belief that despite her escape from being ranked with the dregs at her school, in the food chain with Lu Xiaobei and Mo Yichen she’s still at the bottom.
Well, before she makes a post, she would tell me about it ahead of time, every time, then she’ll make her post. Ordinary people won’t understand it all if I say it this way~
Sometimes we’d study English together, and my goddess would correct my pronunciation word by word; (crushing) her voice when she teaches just sounds so amazing good to the ears; and when I didn’t learn properly, (crushing) her voice when she’s angry is a thing of beauty. (pouting) But when my goddess is really angry, my heart just shatters, shatters at the thought she may not want me any more.
Mo Yichen stared at Mo Yichen frostily, looking at Yu Xiaoya a if she were an idiot. Xiaoya couldn’t cope with Lu Xiaobei’s anger, neither could she handle Mo Yichen’s frost. Not at all sounding mad, Mo Yichen said, “That’s not what I meant.”
But, Xiaoya never listened, and would always wait for her until it was one or two in the morning at home, wanting badly to talk to Lu Xiaobei.
But, how can my goddess ever not want me, (¬‿¬)~
How can she not worry about things! The first batch of college admission results have already been started. Lu Xiaobei never said which school and major she signed up for in hers, but she said Xiaoya would be the first one to know her results.
Every time my goddess bullies me, I’ll get mad and ignore her, but then she’ll coax me really sweetly. Truthfully, though, when she acts all fierce it makes me a little scared but also a bit excited; could I be a bit of a masochist?
Xiaoya: “Oh, it’s definitely the ‘venomous’ kind of mosquito, then. Back in junior high when I did my military training—not in school, but in a huge unit—the mosquitoes there were especially venomous, when they bit someone the person would leak pus. The bite would swell all the way into a huge bump and take more than twenty days to heal. They weren’t as red as yours, but they were really hard.”

“Do you really think I don’t know anything?” Mo Yichen couldn’t stand it any longer. But even though she wanted to knock Xiaoya on the head, she hesitated then added, “Just ask Captain about it later.”
(Don’t enter if you don’t understand)
I once whispered to her what I thought, and in return she told me: “It’s because I spoiled you too much that you feel secure enough to act so fearless.”
Between that part of Europe and China there was a six hour time difference, meaning, the times they could get together wasn’t all that much. Xiaoya had to go to school in the day and didn’t return home until night. In the Netherlands, that would be around noon. Most of the times Lu Xiaobei would have things to do so she’d often tell her to not wait up.
That is true, though. Even though there are a lot of people who like my goddess, I believe the only one she likes is me. So my ‘sense of security’ at this instance is set to the extreme!
Xiaoya: “Huh?”
After some more repeated occurrences, Lu Xiaobei directly gave her ‘the look’ for a couple of days and Xiaoya behaved herself a little bit. In the end, however, Lu Xiaobei couldn’t stop Xiaoya’s stubbornness, so the two arranged for a date via video call every morning in China, and for the past dozen or so days it has gone on unbroken.

My goddess always teases she’ll give me a ‘sense of crisis’ to keep me on my toes, buuut… I know she just as unwilling to do so, too.

She really likes posting on Weibo, but it’s only visible to herself; sort of like it’s her own diary. One of her posts stated: I’m raising this cute little beast, that never dares approach strangers, nor takes the initiative to expose it’s soft little belly for you to touch. Witnessing the little thing go from being overcautious and sticking its little head out to look about, to become one running amuck while bearing its claws and brandishing its fangs, is the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done.
How could which university Lu Xiaobei goes to be her business alone, their futures are tied together!

On the last day of the second semester for the first year highschoolers, every single one of the students in the classroom were looking forward to their summer vacation. They have no interest in learning at the moment, as they either twirl their pens or stare out of the windows dazedly—they were clearly restless.
Because my goddess’ original phone is here with me, and her Weibo account there was never logged out, I can see whatever she posts.
“Yichen, what happened to your neck?” Xiaoya noticed a faint little blotch of red on Yichen’s neck. I looked like a poisonous bug bite—her hand reaching out to touch Yichen’s neck.
But, how can my goddess ever not want me, (¬‿¬)~

But for Xiaoya, she never thought there was anything particularly great about her summer vacation. During her vacation, she’d probably spend every day at home, revising questions, surfing the web, so much so, there were no days that seemed substantial.

At this Xiaoya really wanted to smash something, why does Lu Xiaobei have so many “don’ts”. Before they were together, Xiaoya though Lu Xiaobei was cool and distant; and after they got together, she seriously got the feeling Lu Xiaobei was a control freak.

After Xiaoya’s finger wiped it, the spot of red became more pronounced. Rubbing her fingers together, Xiaoya noticed there was something yellowish on them, like concealer. This led her to ask, “Did you get bitten by a mosquito?”

At this Xiaoya really wanted to smash something, why does Lu Xiaobei have so many “don’ts”. Before they were together, Xiaoya though Lu Xiaobei was cool and distant; and after they got together, she seriously got the feeling Lu Xiaobei was a control freak.

Xiaoya: Huh?
What’s it like being friends with a goddess?
As for Lu Xiaobei…
—— From the dividing line that wants to be with her goddess every single day ——
Not at all sounding mad, Mo Yichen said, “That’s not what I meant.”
It was Xiaoya’s profound belief that despite her escape from being ranked with the dregs at her school, in the food chain with Lu Xiaobei and Mo Yichen she’s still at the bottom.
PS: The college entrance exams results are out ad my goddess did pretty well. I’m super looking forward to seeing her back here, but I’m also super scared of us having to separate again.
Mo Yichen sometimes looks art her as she would a small child with a learning issues, and Lu Xiaobei only tells her to ‘study hard, have fun, and not worry so much about other things.’

How can she not worry about things! The first batch of college admission results have already been started. Lu Xiaobei never said which school and major she signed up for in hers, but she said Xiaoya would be the first one to know her results.

After Xiaoya’s finger wiped it, the spot of red became more pronounced. Rubbing her fingers together, Xiaoya noticed there was something yellowish on them, like concealer. This led her to ask, “Did you get bitten by a mosquito?”
She was so busy those days she had no time to chat with her even at night, but her managerial spirit was still quite firm: don’t stay up late, don’t skip eating your vegetables, don’t forget to exercise, etcetera, etcetera…
“Yichen, what happened to your neck?” Xiaoya noticed a faint little blotch of red on Yichen’s neck. I looked like a poisonous bug bite—her hand reaching out to touch Yichen’s neck.

Isn’t that a contradiction!
Yu Xiaoya’a reply:
How could which university Lu Xiaobei goes to be her business alone, their futures are tied together!
I once whispered to her what I thought, and in return she told me: “It’s because I spoiled you too much that you feel secure enough to act so fearless.”
