The Goddess and the Ugly Duckling - Chapter 30
Standing in front of the full length mirror, Xiaoya tried on her third skirt. It was a mid-length sea blue Bohemian-styled skirt, with a dark blue belt which accentuating her slim waist. The skirt’s hem resembled an ocean spray, falling irregularly at her knees, and it was paired with a loose white blouse, making her look like a free-spirited girl.
The taxi driver: “Because it written all over your face, young lady.”
“You want to come back to my place with me?” Lu Xiaobei asked.
Lu Xiaobei continued, “They should be able to meet their idol, right?” Lu Xiaobei looked at the surrounding scenery, thinking about how she ran left and right with the fans more or less brought to the airport, and so felt a bit guilty.
Xiaoya giggled in front of the mirror.
Lu Xiaobei: “Then what were they doing following us?”
Not far from where Xiaoya was sitting were a few girls wearing the same hat and holding the same sign in their hands. They looked like supporters of some pop-star, and Xiaoya listened to their chattering to past the time during her boredom.
Xiaoya: “Yep, and she’s super beautiful, so I don’t want to lose.”
Having been left out of breath by Lu Xiaobei, Xiaoya huffed. “Hey, w-wait.”
Xiaoya felt the sudden appearance of a nimble tongue, one opposing her own, teasing to its heart content as it continued its constant attack, sucking and entering as it pleased.
Xiaoya stepped forward, walking towards that person. But, before Xiaoya could say a word, she was pulled into a fierce kiss.
Xiaoya looked at the time, there were still two hours before Lu Xiaobei’s flight to Nancheng arrived, and it would take her an hour at the most to make it to the airport from her house. When will this wait be over already!
The girl in the mirror smiled beautifully, her eyes charming. She was already a beauty.
“Hahahahahahahaha… It’s just too freaking funny! You just suddenly grabbed me and ran.” Xiaoya laughed widely, having no kind of image whatsoever. He laughter was then interrupted by Lu Xiaobei’s words. “Fortunately, there weren’t that popular a celebrity, otherwise, it would spread all over the news.”
Xiaoya: “Yeah, that’s true. They should be able to meet them. I saw a couple girls who didn’t run, they must’ve recognised you and were still calling out from behind them. But you… you just suddenly took off and the others started chasing you. Hahahahaha…”
The girl: “There’s a lot of people at the airport, so pay attention everybody. Last time in Shanghai Han-jie thought there were no fans to receive her so she left right away. This time, we need to keep our eyes peeled.”
Xiaoya took out a two simple knotted bracelets from her jewellery box to wear on her wrists, picked up a charger for her phone, then chose a simple messenger bag with tassels. Honestly speaking, she couldn’t really remember what to prepare.
Xiaoya looked at the time, there were still two hours before Lu Xiaobei’s flight to Nancheng arrived, and it would take her an hour at the most to make it to the airport from her house. When will this wait be over already!
Xiaoya remained a little narcissistic for a while. Lu Xiaobei’s eyes really are seriously good. Perhaps, because it was vacation time, her heart was at ease. Perhaps it was on account of her changing a lot over the last few months. Or perhaps it was because Lu Xiaobei was finally coming home. Because as Xiaoya looked into that mirror, she thought the person within it looked radiant.

Right then, Xiaoya’s mother opened her door while holding a bag. “Your dad and I are going out, we won’t be back in time for dinner so…” the older woman words remained unfinished, her eyes carefully looking at Xiaoya who appeared to be dressing herself rather attentively, and so asked, “The person you’re going out with today isn’t a boy, right?”
The girl: “There’s a lot of people at the airport, so pay attention everybody. Last time in Shanghai Han-jie thought there were no fans to receive her so she left right away. This time, we need to keep our eyes peeled.”
Xiaoya: “Back to your place… with you?” If it was before, and Xiaoya was asked by Lu Xiaobei to go over to her house, she would’ve jumped at the chance. But now… given the change in their relationship, when Xiaoya thought of going over to Lu XIaobei’s place it made her extremely nervous.
Lu Xiaobei was coming back, and the blossoming spring within her heart could not be hidden at all. “Nope, it’s a girl.”
N/A
Xiaoya giggled in front of the mirror.
Xiaoya: “Well, to be honest, I would rather just talk with you, but you look seriously worn out.” It makes my heart hurt for you.
Xiaoya’s mother: “Really?” That’s highly doubtful.
Xiaoya: “Yeah, that’s true. They should be able to meet them. I saw a couple girls who didn’t run, they must’ve recognised you and were still calling out from behind them. But you… you just suddenly took off and the others started chasing you. Hahahahaha…”
Now a strange scene played out within that airport: four to five girls chasing and yelling after two other girls. It didn’t seem as though they were running to catch a flight, nor did it appear they were yelling about a robbery, so the other folks at the airport simply thought they were just playing around and having fun.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to go see a movie or take a stroll when today came?” Lu Xiaobei added.
Xiaoya: “Yep, and she’s super beautiful, so I don’t want to lose.”
Xiaoya: “No, it’s not that. I’m just… not ready. Today, more than anything, I just want to talk to you, alone, face to face, about everything. I… I really missed you.”
Xiaoya unconsciously rose from her seat, staring at the person wearing a black coat walking towards her.
Lu Xiaobei waited until Xiaoya laughed enough before calling a taxi and asking her, “Where to?”
Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the suitcase, while the other was snaked around Xiaoya’s waist.
Xiaoya noticed a slender figure walking out the terminal, that person was wearing a black cap.
Maybe because Xiaoya’s reputation has been remarkably good as of recent, or maybe her mother simply accepted her daughter’s words, no longer pushing the matter to only say, “Have fun with this girl friend of yours, but don’t come home too late, alright?”
Xiaoya stepped forward, walking towards that person. But, before Xiaoya could say a word, she was pulled into a fierce kiss.
“Before the plane took off, Han-jie was wearing a white T-shirt, but the air-conditioning on international flights is kept really high, so she might be wearing a coat.” The air-conditioning was also pretty high, littering the girl’s arms with goosebumps. “Han-jie went to go shoot advertisement this time so all she took was a small suitcase, and her coat will probably be a black one, just the one Han-jie wore at the car racing event.”
The international terminal was on platform T2, and with it being the first time Xiaoya had been there, she was a bit worried getting there, but after a second go around she finally found it.
And Xiaoya, still completely immersed from their kiss, could only follow behind Lu Xiaobei dazedly.
The girls were talking about an idol. “When Han-jie left the Netherlands she posted a selfie. She was wearing a black cap, a black mask and…”
Xiaoya: “Got it.” After Xiaoya’s mother got Xiaoya’s promise, she left with her father.
Xiaoya: “They look like fans who came to meet some idol.”

Some people were standing under the flight board, looking up the times of their companions’ flight to Nancheng. Others were holding signs with hand written names. When someone came out, they held their signs high, while some stood on their toes, craning their necks to look at the airport.
Tick. Tock. Tick .Tock. Tick .Tock. Time passed by so slowly.
Xiaoya knew Lu Xiaobei’s flight would be arriving in an hour so she didn’t stand there waiting and went straight for the seats. She wasn’t in the mood to play on her phone so she just sat with her hands folded on her lap, staring blankly at the groups of people hurrying through the airport.
Out of breath, Xiaoya replied, “You’re wearing the same outfit as their idol, so they mistook you for them, it seems. So… when I said wait, I meant we should stand still and just explain it all clearly.”

The girls behind them also were at a loss as to what was happening, but seeing them take off, their former few seconds of hesitation long gone as they quickly gave chase.
Xiaoya looked at the time, there were still two hours before Lu Xiaobei’s flight to Nancheng arrived, and it would take her an hour at the most to make it to the airport from her house. When will this wait be over already!
Lu Xiaobei’s lips brushed against Xiaoya’s nose, trailing downwards, lightly falling onto her upper lip, touching her gently for a couple seconds before eagerly capturing Xiaoya’s lower lip between her own with a force. It was as if she found a piece of delicious jelly. Apart from that time in Tongxin Town, Xiaoya hadn’t been kissed. So right then, she was kissed by Lu Xiaobei until she had no breath, forcing her to open her mouth without thinking, and never expecting it would be all the more convenient for a certain other person.
Xiaoya paced around her room a couple more times, she couldn’t wait at all, heading straight to the door and to the airport. She wanted to get there soon, she wanted to see Lu Xiaobei again soon.
The taxi driver: ?
Lu Xiaobei turned to look at the girl with the camera, making sure Xiaoya’s face couldn’t be seen from the angle she used to take the picture. Lu Xiaobei then grabbed Xiaoya’s hand, planning to leave without any more trouble.

At the same time, Lu Xiaobei asked, “Who were those girls?”
Xiaoya: “How did you know that, Mister?”
Lu Xiaobei pulled Xiaoya into her arms. Xiao then added, “So… how about we go to my house? My mom and dad aren’t home today so you can just take a nap on my bed. After you wake up we can just go out to eat.”
Maybe because Xiaoya’s reputation has been remarkably good as of recent, or maybe her mother simply accepted her daughter’s words, no longer pushing the matter to only say, “Have fun with this girl friend of yours, but don’t come home too late, alright?”

Xiaoya then turned her gaze to the scenes speeding by the taxi’s window. Only when she was before strangers did she dare reveal her true heart in such a manner. But the bit of sadness lingering over such sentiments was quickly brushed away by the sweet joy of her soon being able to reunite with Lu Xiaobei.
Xiaoya stepped forward, walking towards that person. But, before Xiaoya could say a word, she was pulled into a fierce kiss.
Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the suitcase, while the other was snaked around Xiaoya’s waist.
“Han-jie.” Xiaoya’s gaze fell behind Lu Xiaobei’s shoulders, directed towards the gossiping girls from earlier who now wore shocked faces, where among them was one holding a camera.

The skirt’s hem resembled an ocean spray, falling irregularly at her knees, and it was paired with a loose white blouse, making her look like a free-spirited girl.
Xiaoya: “Got it.” After Xiaoya’s mother got Xiaoya’s promise, she left with her father.
Xiaoya unconsciously rose from her seat, staring at the person wearing a black coat walking towards her.
The girls were talking about an idol. “When Han-jie left the Netherlands she posted a selfie. She was wearing a black cap, a black mask and…”
Now a strange scene played out within that airport: four to five girls chasing and yelling after two other girls. It didn’t seem as though they were running to catch a flight, nor did it appear they were yelling about a robbery, so the other folks at the airport simply thought they were just playing around and having fun.
Lu Xiaobei shook her head, “I was just on a plane, I don’t feel like eating.”
Lu Xiaobei continued, “They should be able to meet their idol, right?” Lu Xiaobei looked at the surrounding scenery, thinking about how she ran left and right with the fans more or less brought to the airport, and so felt a bit guilty.
And Xiaoya, still completely immersed from their kiss, could only follow behind Lu Xiaobei dazedly.
Lu Xiaobei waited until Xiaoya laughed enough before calling a taxi and asking her, “Where to?”
Not expecting some of those girls to follow after them, Lu Xiaobei didn’t want to be chased by them so she pulled Xiaoya and ran, wanted to lose them.
Some people were standing under the flight board, looking up the times of their companions’ flight to Nancheng. Others were holding signs with hand written names. When someone came out, they held their signs high, while some stood on their toes, craning their necks to look at the airport.
Xiaoya: “No, it’s not that. I’m just… not ready. Today, more than anything, I just want to talk to you, alone, face to face, about everything. I… I really missed you.”
Xiaoya unconsciously rose from her seat, staring at the person wearing a black coat walking towards her.

Xiaoya: “Well, to be honest, I would rather just talk with you, but you look seriously worn out.” It makes my heart hurt for you.
Having been left out of breath by Lu Xiaobei, Xiaoya huffed. “Hey, w-wait.”
Some folks in the waiting area were tired from their journey and were sleeping, while the ones waiting to be picked up looked restless. Xiaoya felt time itself was passing too slowly.
Xiaoya felt as though she was drowning in a sea of tenderness, until a sudden flash stunned her eyes.

Lu Xiaobei didn’t pull the suitcase anymore, directly picking it up to carry it while her other hand led Xiaoya as they sped from the airport.
“Han-jie.” Xiaoya’s gaze fell behind Lu Xiaobei’s shoulders, directed towards the gossiping girls from earlier who now wore shocked faces, where among them was one holding a camera.
“Didn’t you say you wanted to go see a movie or take a stroll when today came?” Lu Xiaobei added.
Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the suitcase, while the other was snaked around Xiaoya’s waist.
The girls behind them also were at a loss as to what was happening, but seeing them take off, their former few seconds of hesitation long gone as they quickly gave chase.
Xiaoya looked at the dark circles around Lu Xiaobei’s eyes, her heart clenching, so she replied, “How about you go straight back to your house to get some sleep? Or we could go grab something to eat, then send you home?”
And Xiaoya, still completely immersed from their kiss, could only follow behind Lu Xiaobei dazedly.

Xiaoya took out a two simple knotted bracelets from her jewellery box to wear on her wrists, picked up a charger for her phone, then chose a simple messenger bag with tassels. Honestly speaking, she couldn’t really remember what to prepare.
The girl: “There’s a lot of people at the airport, so pay attention everybody. Last time in Shanghai Han-jie thought there were no fans to receive her so she left right away. This time, we need to keep our eyes peeled.”
Now a strange scene played out within that airport: four to five girls chasing and yelling after two other girls. Lu Xiaobei: “Yeah. Do you not want to?”
The girl in the mirror smiled beautifully, her eyes charming. She was already a beauty.
Not expecting some of those girls to follow after them, Lu Xiaobei didn’t want to be chased by them so she pulled Xiaoya and ran, wanted to lose them.
Lu Xiaobei didn’t pull the suitcase anymore, directly picking it up to carry it while her other hand led Xiaoya as they sped from the airport.
The international terminal was on platform T2, and with it being the first time Xiaoya had been there, she was a bit worried getting there, but after a second go around she finally found it.
Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the suitcase, while the other was snaked around Xiaoya’s waist.
Xiaoya giggled in front of the mirror.
Xiaoya unconsciously rose from her seat, staring at the person wearing a black coat walking towards her.

Lu Xiaobei took Xiaoya behind a tourist bus where they hid from the other girls.
Lu Xiaobei’s scent was intoxicating, and in that instant all the long, the restlessness, were soothed.
Xiaoya honestly didn’t know how Lu Xiaobei could have such good physical strength. Caring little about the fact she had worn a skirt, Xiaoya squatted down halfway, catching her breath. “I… I just asked you, to wait up.”
Xiaoya felt the sudden appearance of a nimble tongue, one opposing her own, teasing to its heart content as it continued its constant attack, sucking and entering as it pleased.
And Xiaoya, still completely immersed from their kiss, could only follow behind Lu Xiaobei dazedly.
Xiaoya: “Well, to be honest, I would rather just talk with you, but you look seriously worn out.” It makes my heart hurt for you.
Some folks in the waiting area were tired from their journey and were sleeping, while the ones waiting to be picked up looked restless. Xiaoya felt time itself was passing too slowly.
Lu Xiaobei didn’t pull the suitcase anymore, directly picking it up to carry it while her other hand led Xiaoya as they sped from the airport.

Xiaoya felt as though she was drowning in a sea of tenderness, until a sudden flash stunned her eyes.
Lu Xiaobei had one hand on the suitcase, while the other was snaked around Xiaoya’s waist.
Lu Xiaobei was coming back, and the blossoming spring within her heart could not be hidden at all. “Nope, it’s a girl.”
Xiaoya: “They look like fans who came to meet some idol.”
Not far from where Xiaoya was sitting were a few girls wearing the same hat and holding the same sign in their hands. They looked like supporters of some pop-star, and Xiaoya listened to their chattering to past the time during her boredom.
Some folks in the waiting area were tired from their journey and were sleeping, while the ones waiting to be picked up looked restless. Xiaoya felt time itself was passing too slowly.
Lu Xiaobei: “Then what were they doing following us?”
Xiaoya: “Yeah, that’s true. They should be able to meet them. I saw a couple girls who didn’t run, they must’ve recognised you and were still calling out from behind them. But you… you just suddenly took off and the others started chasing you. Hahahahaha…”
“You want to come back to my place with me?” Lu Xiaobei asked.
Xiaoya’s mother: “Really?” That’s highly doubtful.
Xiaoya’s mother: “Really?” That’s highly doubtful.
Xiaoya: “Got it.” After Xiaoya’s mother got Xiaoya’s promise, she left with her father.
Xiaoya’s mother: “Really?” That’s highly doubtful.
Out of breath, Xiaoya replied, “You’re wearing the same outfit as their idol, so they mistook you for them, it seems. So… when I said wait, I meant we should stand still and just explain it all clearly.”
It was a rare occasion for Lu Xiaobei to make act foolish so Xiaoya feels as though she could laugh at this joke for a year.
Lu Xiaobei: “I thought…”
Xiaoya noticed a slender figure walking out the terminal, that person was wearing a black cap.
Some people were standing under the flight board, looking up the times of their companions’ flight to Nancheng. Others were holding signs with hand written names. When someone came out, they held their signs high, while some stood on their toes, craning their necks to look at the airport.

But the bit of sadness lingering over such sentiments was quickly brushed away by the sweet joy of her soon being able to reunite with Lu Xiaobei.

The taxi driver: “Because it written all over your face, young lady.”
The taxi driver: “Because it written all over your face, young lady.”
Xiaoya stepped forward, walking towards that person. But, before Xiaoya could say a word, she was pulled into a fierce kiss.
Her final words held traces of loving sentiments, and Xiaoya couldn’t bring herself to say it out loud. But with that hate to part with and expectant look written all over her, Lu Xiaobei immediately understood.
It was a small exit, crowded by people all their for pick ups too.

At the same time, Lu Xiaobei asked, “Who were those girls?”
