The Gods Decree - Chapter 158 The Mercenary Contrac
Yet, Taf saw slight twitches on his face which told him volumes. The sizably overweight Drax after a moment replied,
“Don’t get me wrong Sir Mouse. It’s not that I refuse to disclose any information but it’s not possible for me to expose any details about my employer.
You see I am bounded through the Mercenary contract.” He continuously revealed more deals which sparked interest from Taf,
“This contract is signed by blood and I am forbidden to utter or mention anything regarding the client to anyone excluding persons also bounded by the contract.
My compatriots also signed the contract. This is a fail-safe in case the mission is unsuccessful and a mercenary has fallen into the hands of the target.”
He lifted his sleeve on one of his broad shoulders where Taf saw an insignia that glowed with the letter M.
This Taf found quite interesting but it did make complete sense. If a client was to employ the services of a mercenary there would be a sense of apprehension until the enemy is killed.
Especially if it’s a foe that has the means to retaliate with devastating consequences.
If he were then to be assured that even if the mission is a failure his intent would still be unknown with no traces leading back to him.
Well, this brings a sense of assurance to the client which is always good for business. Seeing nothing more could be gained from conversing with Drax Taf then uttered,
” I’ll keep in touch.”
To this Drax only laughed in his mind as finally, this youth had made a mistake. After he leaves he’ll ensure this youth that calls himself the Mouse will never see his face again.
Getting far away as he possibly can. However, on the outside, he smiled at Taf who watched him walk away.
Seems there is a little chink in his armory after all. What an idiot making him walk away as he did. He felt the space ring on his toes and felt only joy.
Once more he was the smartest person in the room. How could a toddler see through his tricks?
As Drax laughed in his mind he saw Taf before him. He was confused as another Taf was right where he previously left him, still watching him walk away..
” What the hell!?”
He exclaimed as he saw two versions of the same person. Taf’s voice rang in his ear,
” Oh, by the way, I forgot to mention the other 1 million in your space ring. I take it should cover all expenses for services rendered in the near future.”
His words caused Drax’s limbs to go limp. How could he possibly have known about his space ring? Then he remembered the jolt of current coursing through his body. He knew there was something odd about his actions.
He yelled in his mind, “This evil bastard!”
Taf grinned uttering in his mind,
???? Elemental Art (Darkness) Chains of subjugation????
Of the two Taf’s the one who was before Drax turned into black shadows which transformed into chains that sprang like a snake wrapping around Drax’s neck.
He struggled to pull them off but it burnt. Not like flames burning his skin but like his soul itself was the target.
Soon the chains disappeared like they never were but Drax could still feel them. In some ways, he felt if Taf willed it,his death was a certainty.
Taf looked at the struggling Drax with the chains now wrapped around his neck. Would he be so naive as to let this known pathological liar out of his sight?
Then expecting him to return without some form of assurance he’ll be back once more.
” A little parting gift. I’ll allow you to keep your consciousness, for now. If I were to call and you didn’t arrive, how about we see the outcome of that decision, huh.”
Taf then turned around walking in the direction of three deceased victims without a second glance at Drax as his laughter was all Drax could hear in his ear.
He had ensured none of the space pouches were destroyed in his previous rampage. After gathering all three he then riffled through them with his sense.
However, unlike Drax, they didn’t have much that caught his eyes excepting for 50k each in Lqs.
It appears Drax was a real stingy boss as he had in his possession a whopping 2 million lqs while his men in comparison were seeming beggers.
Taf then saw something interesting. Within each pouch, there were emblems and pins of a crow. He then thought to himself of all the things in his limited time as a cultivator that represented a crow.
At first, he thought it was the emblem of the mercenaries but this had a similar feel to the one he got when first entering the Drak Abylis Sect.
The Crow Mountain Sect was the next thought that crossed his mind. Yet he wondered what was the relationship between the mercenaries and that sect.
He couldn’t request information from Drax due to the contract in place, therefore, pondering as to what this all meant was the only other alternative.
Was this whole scheme plotted by one of the Dark Abylis Sect’s rivaling Sect, The Crows?
????????????????????????
Puh!
An exhausted Ava spat blood as a rock slapped her in the chest. She looked to her right where a boulder seconds prior was launch.
Underneath she saw Ashley’s body twitch as her lower part had been crushed to paste. Her eyes remained open as her mouth foamed with a mixture of blood.
This was the third member of Squad Ava who now was killed. She then heard a voice,
” I told you didn’t I? I’ll crush you all.”
Vulture with his small stature stated as he eyed the two remaining pairs of sisters, Ava and Selena.
Selena rushed to cover her wounded sister who had been hit by the rock that was truly meant for her.
” I’m sorry big sis I was too naive. I really am just one big burden, aren’t I?” Tears ran down her eyes when she saw her sis struggling to get up.
Blood ran from the sides of Ava’s mouth. It seemed the internal damage was quite severe.
Yet, Ava still had a steely determined gaze as she tried to make it to her feet. This only made Selena tear up even more as she whimpered,
“Why do you always have to be the strong one? Let me this time be the one to make that sacrifice.”
She then rubbed the black mask that was placed over Ava’s face. Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.com for visiting.
From a young age, she was always allowed to be the carefree one as she knew her big sis was there to protect her.
Whether it be from their abusive mom who always drank and detested them so because they resembled their father or all the messed up things brought with life.
Some might say she became a bit spoilt because of this. Always acting out whenever Ava spoke as though everything in the world revolved around her.
In some ways, Ava became the mom and her the revolting teenage daughter.
In her heart, she felt so much guilt for one particular incident which occurred only a year prior. It was from all appearance a simple mission.
Everything was going smoothly at least that was what they thought, The enemy had scampered along a mountain range into an open cave trapped and defeated.
Still, Ava became a bit suspicious for some reason.
She then told all members of the squad to hurriedly join her. All went but for one. Selena remembered the words she uttered which haunt her to this very day,
“Danger does not alway linger around all corners, Ava. Why don’t you lighten up for once? They are as good as dead.”
As she spoke those words in an area of the cave devoid of light Ava, Marshall, Ashley, and Shinzo looked in horror as thousands of eyes open behind Selena.
It appeared their enemy detested them so much they lured them into the cave of demon beasts known as the purple acidic bats, not caring for their own lives.
Selena had frozen in fear as she had one phobia and you guessed it, bats.
Seeing this Ava then ordered all members of the squad to flee immediately as she charged towards her sister frozen in fear.
The thousands of bats fluttered around as their wings slapped against the walls. Sensing an intruder they continually spat acid all around.
The acid melted through the walls of the cave as rubble fell.
Soon a gigantic bat was before Selena, the alpha of the bunch. Her big sis once more fought for her cause but not unscathed as the bat had spat acid to the right side of her body.
” This time let your baby sis protect you.”
Selena smiled as she wiped the tears from Ava’s eyes. For the first time, some semblance of emotion could be seen on Ava’s face as she cried.
Ava then felt a gentle kiss on the side of her cheek. She desperately grabbed on to the hands of Selena refusing to let go as she struggled to speak but the words seemingly couldn’t come out.
Maybe in some ironic way she was glad to see her sister playing a mature role for once relieving her of the burden.
Selena then coldly stared at Vulture and his men as her two long swords were summoned to her hands.
The minimal qi she had in reserve all exploded at once as her blonde hair which was soaked by the rain was lifted by its force.
” I’ll kill any who dares to have thoughts of hurting her while blood still courses through this body of mine!”
Selena yelled as she mustered all the strength that she could.
Hehe!
“Such a heartfelt declaration, even this little heart of mine skipped a beat. I will say one thing though.”
Vulture paused as the rain dripped off his machete before ending,
” Very poor choice of words!”
Booom!
The three ignited their qi as they charged to slaughter the sisters.
Then from above…
????Way of the sword – (Wind element) – Fourth killing stance of Yuruka????
Swish!
All three men paused before one of the ninth stage cultivators started to walk while stumbling before…
Puuush!
Blood gushed forth as his body was split in half. Before them, they saw a petite figure with black hair and an odd broad sword that seemed a mismatch.
She flashed the broad sword as her victim’s blood now called the mud its home.
