The Gods Decree - Chapter 159 Tainted
There Neisha stood as the blood dripped from the blades of the broad sword. She looked around seeing the tens of bodies slaughtered by both friends and foes.
This is what came with the job, being averse to the sight of blood makes you weak on the battlefield.
She peered at her victim who was split in half while sighing. That was the first person she had ever killed. Without even knowing his name she decided his destiny.
Eying her from the distance was Vulture as he wondered where this black-haired woman came from. Then he saw the purple and black attire and it all became clear.
A disciple of the Dark Abylis Sect but what was she doing here. Vulture paused as he pressed on the communicator in his ear to gain some confirmation from both Drax and Sarabi.
” Sarabi did any of the targets getaway?” Vulture asked.
Some distance to the east Sarabi replied,” If they aren’t dead, they soon will be.”
While staring at the two remaining survivors surround by five wolves and two underlings at the ninth stage.
He then tried to get in contact with Drax but there was no reply.
“I’ve always known I would have to kill that fat bastard one day. It seems the time has come to rid the world of his presence.” Vulture cursed Drax out loud.
It all became clear to him that Drax had been the one to let one of his targets escaped. In this profession, such negligence should never be condoned.
As Vulture lamented in his mind there was an instinctive need to dodge having felt his life was at risk. His sense of danger had been honed for decades and it has never been wrong before.
He quickly ducked to his right…
BOOOOM!!!
Where Vulture previous stood was like a wasteland after countless battles. He then saw a large chunk of iron molded into a spike ball with a brace chain 5ft long attached to its end.
The flail was still embedded in the earth as he saw a fiery-haired robust man pulling at its chains.
In quick time the flail was free and with seeming ease Malgrey once more swung it at his last remain ally.
Seeing the impending hit from the assault of the flail the ninth stage cultivator flipped backward. Doing his best to avoid being pulverized while fortifying the front of his body with the earth as a precaution.
He smirked at Malgrey who had apparently failed in his bid to cause him harm. He wasn’t some easy cannon fodder to killed with seeming ease like his compatriot. However, as the thought crossed his mind..
PuK! Puk!
He then looked down on his chest as blood ran from the sides of his mouth. There pierced through his chest was a saber and thin sword riddled in his blood.
Bap!
On his knees, he fell before another…
Puk!
An arrow pierced the back of his skull resting him for good. How sad it was indeed he didn’t even see his killers?
Would he perhaps laugh at the irony at surviving the strike of a peak ninth stage cultivator, to then be killed by three mere eighth- stage qi condensation cultivators?
From his dead corpse, Lovren and Luke then pulled their saber and thin sword. They were both restrained, similar to Niesha this was the first time they had ever killed another human being.
Always hearing tales of others from the sect after a successful mission, they envied them. In some of the tales, countless were killed but that had its merit.
After all, it was good versus bad, at least from the story teller’s perspective.
So they always dreamt of one day being the person telling the glorious tale, especially Lovren.
However, there was no glory associated with death as they initially thought. If they were to describe it they might reference how it felt so final and irreversible.
A taint seemingly lingered on their souls when seeing the blood of their victim dripping from their blades.
In the future would they be rid of this blemish as it becomes the norm or will it just fester eating away at their souls.
“Good job!”
They heard Malgrey say as he made his way towards Vulture who was now the one significantly outnumbered.
This would not be known when looking at his expression. It appears he was resolved to fight.
His Alias Vulture wasn’t picked out of a hat but earned. He could go through the toughest conditions and only have one request, more.
How many years had he lived as a mercenary for hire to escape insurmountable odds? Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.com for visiting.
The problem he faced now was that a significant amount of his qi was expended on his previous battle with Ava’s squad.
Therefore his more powerful attacks couldn’t be used as they expended a significant amount of qi. Still, He had a plan to escape.
Malgrey was emotionless as with brute force he swang his flail creating cracks in the ground with each swing.
Wack!
Vulture once more dodged his attack and he countered by blastings rocks while ensuring to keep his distance for the flail.
Cling!
he attempted to smash the flail from Malgrey’s hand only to see it had little to no effect on the spiked ball of iron.
To the side, he watched the other four members of Malgrey’s squad who didn’t move an inch watching the battle.
Making sure he didn’t make the same mistake as his underling before. Though they did not move his eyes took note of their every action. It seemed the leader viewed him as a prize kill.
This he found worked in this favor as it gave him time to plot his escape fully.
With each swing of the flail, he took another step back. Until Malgrey apparently had enough giving his flail a final thrust as Vulture laughed.
In his head, he mused realizing Malgrey was a one-trick pony who became quite predictable. He only focused on brute force and had no sense of finesse or tactics.
He once more dodged but this time something odd occurred. At least ten razor-sharp metallic disks suddenly appeared from the head of the flail.
They spun with such force a zizzing 1 sound could be heard in the air. It was as if anything those disks touched would be shredded into mincemeat.
So sharp was the rotation of the disk that a piece of Vulture’s ear was sliced off as he barely evaded. Cold sweat overcame Vulture as he dare not stay in their path.
For three consecutive minutes, he evaded attacks from eight disks as blood continually poured from slices from their lightning-fast rotation.
” Amateur tricks, come better than that you overgrown buffoon! I can do this all day!”
The midget Vulture yelled in annoyance as he assessed his body riddled in wounds.
Yet Malgrey continued with his attack unrelenting before he finally uttered a few words..
” A youth once told me that the best thing one can do in battle is to be observative of their surroundings. In this, you have failed. Now die!”
Malgrey words startled Vulture as he looked all around him but didn’t see a thing out of place. He had been ensuring that all was within his sight.
The members of team Malgrey too were unmoving as he previously saw. Then what could Malgrey be speaking of?
He laughed in his mind as he thought it another ignorant trick from the overgrown clown.
Before his sense of danger once more triggered. However this time it couldn’t save him. As Vulture looked up there were two disks above his scalp.
The last thing he thought was how stupid he was for not ensuring all the disk that exited the flail were accounted for. There were ten but apparently the whole time he was focused on eight.
Giving Malgrey the opportunity of moving him around like a piece on a chessboard before finally striking as Vulture felt he had seen all his cards then…, checkmate.
Zing! Zing!
He was sliced to pieces and that was where the tale of Vulture ended.
????????????????????
There Selena stood in shock still having both short swords in her hand. Her grip slowly released as the sword hit the ground followed by her knees.
Cling! Blap! 1
She looked behind her to see Ava looking at the man with red hair.
For the past few days, all she did was ridicule this man every chance she got, yet here he was in her greatest time of need.
Her previous taunts echoed in her mind and all she felt was ashamed, then she heard a voice,
“This is unlike you Ava, to be all speechless.”
Malgrey slowly helped her to feet. She didn’t know where to start, apparently. How could she dare utter a word to him?
The last thing she said to Malgrey was not to get all of his squad killed but look around her.
Marshall, Ashley, and Shinzo were all dead. Yet when she looked at his squad all were accounted for excepting Taf and May. He managed to do what she couldn’t.
Which was to protect those under his command. At least that was what she had assumed. She dared not look Malgrey in the eyes as he spoke.
To be continued…
