The Gods Decree - Chapter 160 May I Tap In?
Seeing her demeanor Malgrey had an idea of the thoughts that ran through her mind at this moment.
” Now is not the time for all of that, What happened in the past, stays there. I’m sure you also would have assisted us if you could.”
He then uttered as Ava finally gripped onto her sword.
All this time a questioned lingered in her mind seeing that not one member of Squad Malgrey had even a scratch on them.
They were the weakest of the three squads so it was impossible for them to not have any sort of injuries. Even the three eighth stage cultivators were unscathed.
This was too good to be true, wasn’t? So then how did they do it?
Did they perhaps lose the missing Taf and May in their attempts to flee?
Then deciding to combine forces with her squad, fighting as one unit, perhaps?
“How are you all unscathed?” Ava then asked.
When standing she was so battered and bruise that her feet became wobbly and she could hardly endure.
Malgrey at that moment could only scratch his head when he heard the question. He then replied,
” We had received your request for assistance. In order to aid your squad that was in need, the squad separated into two groups.
One group took responsibility in providing aid to this location while the other..”
Malgrey paused while hearing the words he spoke. When spoken out loud he realized their actions would appear, ludicrous, to anyone hearing.
When looking at Ava it could be seen she held these sentiments. She was stunned by his bizarre actions of splitting his group severely weakening them.
Then something dawned on her as she once more assessed the members of Squad Malgrey. The two recruits were nowhere to be seen.
“You left them to fend for themselves against a team of bloodthirsty mercenaries?
What could possibly be the rationale behind such a decision?” Ava questioned in a serious tone.
Yes, she was grateful for his assistance but sacrificing his squad members should never be an option. Especially two who had such promise.
They must be scared out of their minds when they saw what they were up against.
” Quick let’s go and assist them.” She hurried gripped her sword but her feet were still wobbly as she once more spat blood all over the ground.
Malgrey could only once more hold her by the waist preventing her from falling over.
“Don’t worry about it. I have complete faith in Taf. Even the decision to assist you instead of Malnor too was his.”
His words made Ava momentarily paused as the image of the youth with dreads flashed before her eyes.
The way he carried himself unflustered by all around him did pique her interest. Though she felt he was somewhat big-headed.
However, she was still not convinced as she looked at Malgrey thinking his action was still quite rash for someone in his position.
She wasn’t the only one as Selena who finally mustered the strength to walk over too looked at him oddly. Her sister Ava had told her about Taf as she was quite curious about him from that night.
However matured he seemed, still didn’t supplement the fact he was a mere teen in need of protection from their elders.
What could he possibly do against such cold-hearted persons who dwarfed him in cultivation? Not to mention his little girlfriend with the odd silver hair.
Malgrey could only sigh in his mind. If it was anyone else that told him the plan prior he would have refused.
Taf, however, gave him the confidence he has never felt in another person’s ability. He just felt everything was fine.
This did not ease the concern of the two apparently as Ava pressed the side of her communicator.
To the north, Taf looked at the pins and emblems still pondering as to what they meant when a buzz went off in his ear.
“Ava speaking, Squad Malgrey members May and Tafari. We’re on our way to offer assistance. Go as far east as possible, we’ll meet you on the route.”
He was brought out of his train of thought by Ava’s voice…
“Oh, Ava I see you’re alive and kicking. Squad leader Malgrey has done quite the job, hasn’t he?” Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.com for visiting.
There was a seeming carefree tone to his speech that caught all off-guard. Shouldn’t he be out of breath fleeing for his miserable life as he awaited reinforcements?
They each stared at the other before Malgrey voice was heard.
” Taf you’re seemingly doing well. Keep them off and we’ll be there in no time.”
Malgrey then motioned for his white hawk.
” Oh, that might be a problem.”
Taf uttered as he walked within the rain while it soaked through his clothing, yet he was unbothered.
His words unintentionally caused a panic among the persons who heard it. Imagining an unfavorable state in which he and May were in danger.
Perhaps he was at this very moment in the hands of the enemy as they coerced his every word. This would explain his seemingly cool demeanor, wouldn’t it?
” There is no need to say anything more, we are on our way.”
Ava responded thinking he was talking in code as she and Selena readied to mount the last remaining swallow left after the battle.
The swallows weren’t effective as battle companions, therefore, Vulture couldn’t have cared less about them at the time. So too did squad Malgrey who mount their white hawk.
” Guess I was too vague in my response, my bad. What I meant was all has been taken care of. Therefore your assistance is unnecessary.”
They all thought they heard wrong as Malgrey was the only one to utter anything in response.
“What do you mean ‘taken care of’? What happened to the bandits and mercenaries?”
As Taf idly walked he took a small stone embedded in the muddy dirt before flicking it with his fingers into the path of a tree.
Wack!
” The bandits, well they all had changes of hearts and decided to go on the righteous path. Being the forgiving soul I am I encouraged their journey to self-fulfilled.
It seems we’re all virtuous souls underneath. With just the right motivation our path can be indeed altered for the better.”
Taf grinned as he continued,
” As for our mercenary friends, it seems they would not alter their ways. Thus they’re all unfortunately dead.”
Taf listened for a reply only to find not a voice responded at the other end.
” Damn thing must be busted. You would think the sect wouldn’t go the inexpensive route.
How about waterproofing their equipment? I hope they don’t charge me for this because quite frankly I am not paying for it.”
Taf cursed out incessantly not being aware that it wasn’t the equipment that was damaged but what words could be uttered from the others at the other end?
They all looked at one another speechless before Malgrey’s voice was heard,
” You killed them!? They died?”
” Yeah, Malgrey people tend to die after being killed. Being a bit redundant, aren’t we? Told you less brawn, more brains. Don’t be embarrassing me over there, man.”
Taf jokingly reprimanded Malgrey but still, they all were speechless. Especially Ava and Selena as they looked at their squadmates’ bodies scattered in the mud.
What strength could two teens have to contend with individuals who could do such damage? From the conversation Vulture had it seemed the other two were of equal strength and personnel.
Therefore Taf and May had fought and actually won, Doesn’t it mean those two alone are stronger than any one of the squad.
This was impossible, ar at least it should be.
” So is May ok?” Niesha then asked worriedly. Not hearing her speak in the communicator.
” Yeah, she is fine. I take it at this very moment she has arrived at her destination, I might have a look also.” Taf replied as he slowly made his way westward.
This was too much, wasn’t it? They all thought. Here Taf was telling everyone not only did he obviously do all that by his lonesome, but May too was on a similar mission.
“I’ll be going now, We’ll have a chat when the mission is complete.” Taf hanged up his communicator as he looked to the west.
” Hmmm, Let’s see if i can make it in time for the show.”
As he spoke black bolts of lightning wrapped around his body.
Still speechless as to what to say the remnants of squad Ava and squad Malgrey hurried unto their demon beasts. This they had to see for themselves right? Their ears might not believe, but how about their eyes?
They all headed west ensuring their demon beast were moving at their quickest speed possible.
????????????????????
At the location which gained all interest recently, Malnor was a beaten and defeated man. He looked as five red wolves howled to the skies as they ripped Atto to shreds.
One gripped Atto by his jugular and then burst his throat.
There were tears in Malnor’s eyes as he saw one of his closest friends killed before him without him being able to offer any form of assistance.
He then heard an uncaring voice uttering,
“Look at my little puppies feasting. Eat up and be strong, don’t overeat however at there is still dessert to be had.”
At Sarabi’s words, the five wolves paused before they each slowly turned around eying Malnor as truly prime meat for the taking.
Arh-ooooo!
They charged at Malnor who could only look on defeated but still he gripped onto his battle-ax. He knew he was a dead man yet he would still fight till the very end.
In unison, the five wolves lunged at him as he prepared for the afterlife. He could smell their breath which wreaked with the blood and flesh of Atto.
“I have no regrets, death is promised to all. I’m just making an early journey.” He uttered.
Swish!
Arwf!
One after the other the wolves whimpered as an arrow pierced through their skulls with seeming ease.
“I really hate wolves.”
All looked up as a young girl with silver hair was surrounded by a vortex of wind after descending a slight distance from a red feathered eagle’s back.
The raindrops all turned to ice and the temperatures plummeted.
” May I tap in?”
May smiled as she looked at Sarabi who was fuming at the deaths of her wolves. Her two underlings shivered as the cold winds blew.
