The Gods Decree - Chapter 211 Rebel Perfume
Unaware of the sect’s number one genius sudden intrigue in him, Taf casually made his way down the ridge.
As he walked he saw all disciple hard at work seeking to get in the last bit of training the could. It was now the eve of the annual tournament and the sect was buzzing with excitement.
Yet Taf casually walked on his way unbothered by all the hassle. He had no intention of including any more training in his plans prior to the tournament.
At this juncture, there was only one thing on his mind and that was visiting the sects library in order to make himself more knowledgeable on certain matters. This was important with him having to fulfill his elder’s obligation.
As he walked he lamented within his mind about some of his decisions,
‘I really should have taken the easy route like May, opting to be a mentor. Damn I even completed some parts already having given pointers to both Lovren, Luke, and Cameron.
Yet I couldn’t get past the thought of the challenge. Maybe I do have an inflated ego.”
He laughed at himself yet truthfully there was no regret in his decision.
After a few hours of sightseeing Taf finally made it to his destination. Before him was a building solely made of brown bricks that were six stories high.
This was his first time visiting the library so while entering he took his time to take in the interior. One thing was for sure this was far from Senior Grace’s little books store within Marvel City.
Rather than a few hundred books, there were thousands of them on each self. Row after row of neatly lined up with their spines facing outward. Color-coded with dots and all sections arranged in alphabetical order. Evidently a lot of thought had gone into organizing with an obvious system in place.
While his eyes lingered Taf also noted the floor cushions. If that was not to an individual’s liking there were options of comfortable leather armchairs and the most popular tables for quiet study,
Inside he could see disciple searching reading quietly ensuring not to disturb their counterparts. In this place no one really cared to see their fellow readers having been submerged in books.
Soon he joined the fray hastily making his way from shelf to shelf. While his eyes explored he noticed almost all topics had a books with thousands of pages catering to them.
For instance he saw a book that dealt with the difference in soil and the varying impacts when used by an earth elemental. Highlighting the do’s and don’t when deciding to weave the earth to one’s benefit.
Taf had to admit he really didn’t think of the difference in soil when using his earth element.
Yet the further he thought about the more obvious it became that this would play an integral part in the amount of qi expended and the force of his attack.
‘Knowledge truly is power.’ He thought.
As Taf continued to look he saw that there were also books on mortals that he found quite amusing.
In one, the author spoke of mortals as though they were some alien lifeform. Obviously this person was truly removed from reality.
After a while searching, Taf finally found a few books to his liking. He then made his way to a vacant desk that was secluded from over in a corner of the library. Evidently with the intention of spending the next few hours dissecting.
While sitting by his lonesome he felt a presence hovering above him. By the smell of perfume he could tell this was a woman. Yet he knew this was a fragrance not foreign to his nose. He then heard,
“You’re not doing much for your fearsome reputation Sir Mouse. What would your fellow disciples think of this.”
Taking a glance Taf saw a seductively dressed brunette in purple and black clothing that was nearly skin tight.
“I’m sorry have we met?” Taf casually questioned noting this was the first time he has ever seen this lady.
Owww!
“Well that hurts. You should get to know your growing fan base. I am Laura your fan club president.”
The woman flirtatiously uttered while she smiled at Taf. Taf chuckled as a thought crossed his mind yet he responded,
“I didn’t know I had become so popular with the ladies. Tell me, Laura is it that you have been stalking me? I have never known the library to be a socializing hotspot.”
“I know it against the rules to fraternize while in here yet for you there are certain rules I wouldn’t mind.., breaking.”
As she spoke Laura seductively bit her bottom lips while smiling with her hands on hip. She was quite the side it could be said. Soon Taf found that Laura had made her way over to his seating.
“I hope I’m not imposing. ” She sat side by side with Taf. He did nothing to stop her and even encouraged it,
“A rule breaker huh? Tell me about this.”
His words caused a smile to grow on Laura’s face as she whispered something softy within Taf’s ear which caused him to raise his eyebrow.
“I think that is outlawed in some parts of Chu,” Taf uttered which caused Laura to smile,
“You’re funny.” She chuckled while saying,
Soon an hour had passed and Laura still would not give Taf a moment’s peace filling his young mind with wild thought while showcasing her bust.
Then when sure no one was looking she summoned two glasses to her hand. Being that their location was secluded not many persons could see her actions.
“You really are a rebel I see,” Taf uttered with a smirk as he saw a wine bottle being the last to be summoned.
Laura then responded with a wink,
“Well it’s not every day you get to meet your crush, is it? Who knows the next time we meet someone might have left a mark on you.
So I have to leave my own impression as to be not forgotten among the hundreds.”
“I guess there really is a need.” Taf once more indulged which was to her liking so Laura poured them both wine from the bottle.
“A cheer to rebels.”
She held her glass next to his while enticingly moving her fingers slowly from her neck to her cleavage.
So distracted was Taf two of his books on the desk were knocked out as Laura chuckled watching him hastily aim to pick them up.
“Damn that is so embarrassing cheers.”
Taf stuttered before clinging his glass while gulping down the wine. Seeing what unfolded Laura held her hand to mouth while she giggled drinking the wine.
“It’s cute seeing you embarrassed, here is my frequency number. I need to have my final preparations with my squad. So I must take my leave.”
She smiled while blowing a kiss at Taf making her exit. As Laura turned around however there was a smirk on her face. Yet if she were to see Taf’s expression the smirk would suddenly fade.
Seeing her hurriedly exiting the library Taf uttered in his mind,
“Guess that was the kiss of death, huh.”
He then went over in his mind the events that preceded the kiss.
In truth, it was all a bit of role-playing by the two, and unknown to Laura she had chosen the wrong mark. From the very second, she had made her way over to his desk Taf had suspected her intention.
That being the case he played into the hands of the woman. In fact, he knew before she uttered a word who had sent her. What he didn’t know was how far this person would go in a bit to get revenge.
Now he had gotten his answer. It seems this person wanted him dead.
This was confirmed when Laura poured the wine out in the two glasses. In a bid to distract Taf’s eyes the seductively dressed Laura drew his attention to where she knew no man could ignore.
While noting Taf’s boyish mind becoming lost for oxygen by the second her other hand sprinkled a red powder that easily dissolved in his find.
What she didn’t know was this was akin to an amateur magician walking up to a professional and asking him to choose a card.
With Old Man Ming’s constant teachings on the importance of observing one’s surroundings? how could Taf possibly miss such paltry tricks?
He clumsily knocked over his books which distracted Laura for a few seconds. While he switched around the glasses.
In order to be a hundred percent sure the whole bottled wasn’t filled with poison the moment the wine went on his lips he ignited his black lightning purifying it.
Now he knew what the next step would be after this attempt on his life. Remembering the smell of Laura’s perfume there was one person who wore the same sent which he has met previously. This was definitely no coincidence.
“Oh, Darwin.., Darwin, you really should make your woman use her own amenities. Instead of borrows yours, Now she has only but confirmed your death.”[1]
Taf wickedly smiled as he once more gathered his books once more continuing his reading.
To be continued.
