The Grandbell Legacy - Chapter 32 Mariotte 6
Ci-ci stared at the two attendants. “I’ve seen shameless individuals before, but I have to admit, this is a first, even for me.”
“You can only blame yourself for being too hateable.” The quick-witted attendant sneered. “So arrogant and above reproach, did you ever think you’d have such a day?”
“Interesting.” Ci-ci’s eyes grew colder. “At first I thought about forgiving you since you were only following your manager’s orders, but it seems like you aren’t a person who deserves the benefit of the doubt.”
“Even if our Manager hadn’t asked us to do this, you would suffer for your deeds one way or another.”
Ci-ci didn’t respond. Instead, he looked past the quick-witted attendant and toward the five approaching, burly men. He didn’t seem surprised to see that they were the very same men he had just been in the VIP room with, minus Abram.
Seeing their sinister expression, it also didn’t take much for Ci-ci to understand what they came for. However, even still, his cold look gave way to a cold smile that made the quick-witted beauty involuntarily take yet another step back.
“I wonder, to what do I owe the pleasure?” Ci-ci asked. “Did you miss me already? We just separated.”
The five burly men blocked off the hallway, sneering at Ci-ci.
“What a fool.” They spoke to each other as though he wasn’t there. “Does he believe that he’s protected because we’re in public?”
Another burly man laughed, continuing on in a thick Russian accent. “Someone should tell him that there’s nothing my Latka family doesn’t dare to do!”
Ci-ci couldn’t help but laugh. Could this really count as “public”. It was quite obvious that they only dared to do this because they had pocketed the Manager of this branch.
That wasn’t all, either. This hallway completely lacked the gravitas that greeted Ci-ci when he walked in.
Instead, it was quite plain. Not only was this hallway located on the basement floor of the branch, it looked more like a path leading to a secret base than the hallway to the employee quarters.
Simply put, this was the most isolated and private area of the Mariotte, yet these “gangsters” puffed their chests out, pretending as though they had balls of steel. It was truly too funny.
“Let me guess.” Ci-ci ignored the two women, stepping forward toward the burly men. “Your young master told you to come after me, probably saying something along the lines of “I can’t come and go as I please”, hm?”
The burly men frowned but didn’t respond. This was just fine with Ci-ci because he planned on continuing to speak anyway.
“Then he probably said, “You don’t need to worry about the manager, I’ve already bribed him”, or something to that effect.”
Their expressions became even more sinister, “Since you know, then accept your punishment for angering Young Bear.”
Ci-ci laughed heartily, continuing as though he had heard nothing. “And the funniest part is that he probably told you just to harm me. Probably break an arm here, a leg there. Do you know why?” Ci-ci grinned evilly, a cold glint lighting in his eye. “Because he’s too much of a pussy to tell you to kill me.”
“How dare you!”
The burly men could no longer hold back. Their sinister intent seemed to burn the atmosphere alive as their experience as battle worn veterans shone through.
Although a semblance of peace had taken over Earth over the last several hundred years, it was just that, a semblance. In truth, wars were raged everyday in The Ghettos, and these were the men on the front lines.
When the two women saw Ci-ci being attacked like this, they felt a wave of relief before they started inwardly gloating. The pressure they faced just speaking to Ci-ci alone was enough to suffocate them. Everything they had said and done up until now was false bravado.
Of course, they didn’t believe Ci-ci could win. Although he was tall with a wide chest and back that made them swoon, just looking the part didn’t mean you were powerful. Plus, Ci-ci was an Inventor in the 26th Century, this wasn’t ancient times, why would he ever believe that he had to learn to fight?
However, the next few moments would shock them.
Facing attacks from five sides, Ci-ci became like a leaf in the wind. Winding and bending flexibly to narrowly dodge an avalanche of fists.
Instead of taking a step back, Ci-ci came forward, closing the distance between him and the middle man in an instant.
His actions seemed completely unconceivable. Why would a single man facing five willingly enter an encirclement? Yet, that was what Ci-ci did.
Ci-ci’s fist flew forward. It was simple and without tricks, yet it was so quick that the burly man couldn’t react.
250 pounds of muscle flew backward, keeling over in the air as he felt his ribs shatter.
Ci-ci’s assault didn’t end. His head tilted backward, dodging the second rage fueled pursuit of the Russian men, only for his leg to whip outward, cracking one of their knees to cause an audible and sickening sound.
for visiting.
The battle ended in a flash. Ci-ci’s momentum was unforgiving, nor did he allow them a chance to retaliate.
A flurry of punches and kicks ended in just as many cracked bones, leaving Ci-ci’s handsome, warlike figure standing in the center of five groaning, overgrown men.
Ci-ci turned and walked past the two women. One was stunned into falling back, while the other, who had just still been pretending to cry on the ground felt real tears welling up in her eyes.
“Consider yourselves lucky that you didn’t come to kill me, otherwise I wouldn’t have held back.” Ci-ci waved as he continued unperturbed down the hallway. “Oh, and you two can release that news story of yours if you want, I’d really like to see how that ends for you.”
