The Greatest Sinner - Chapter 263
“Lucifer’s Shackles and Mammon’s Gaze?” Rave asked Rave puzzledly.
He hadn’t expected to hear those exact titles. Rave was surprised, this situation seemed very strange to him.
Evan nodded.
“You say you got these spells from an ancient book, right?”
“Yes,” Evan answered quickly.
<I see, so their idea wasn’t so bad. There really are various demon spells hidden in this world that we don’t know yet. This guy was lucky to find two spells, but there are some things I still don’t understand.>
“Evan, I’m not going to kill you, torture you, etc. You’ll be joining us soon and as far as I’m concerned you’re a very promising newcomer. You’re lucky you found that grimoire, don’t tell anyone but me about it, at least not until you join the Demonic Tree. I know you want to do some kind of experiment, but first, I want to know more about you and where you found that spell. We’ll go to my castle, after which I’ll bring you back.”
The next moment Rave whistled, and a couple of seconds later, a massive wyvern landed beside him. Its aura was as strong as Lightning Wolf’s when he opened his third eye.
Evan used Mammon’s Gaze.
[Ice Wyvern
Race the Beast
Rank – 3, two flames on the platform
Warp – Purple]
Beasts and monsters also had Warp because otherwise, they could not absorb mana from the environment. Beasts absorbed it from nature, and monsters gained it by devouring others, all of which required Warp. Normally, finding out what Warp a monster or beast had was extremely difficult. For Evan, it was no problem, all he had to do was look at his target.
Rave climbed the wyvern, and Evan did the same. He had no other options, he had to follow Evan’s instructions, but Evan was actually pleased with the situation.
For one thing, if Rave didn’t show up, Evan would surely die. He wouldn’t have had time to draw a sigil strong enough for a demon to escape from a mage in the – Three-Pointed Star stage. Even if he could, he would have to sacrifice 300 to 400 years of his life. It was practically the same as dying.
Second, Evan was able to trick Rave partially. He didn’t tell him about the 72 Demon spells and how he got Lucifer’s Shackles and Mammon’s Gaze. Rave thinks Evan found these spells in an ancient grimoire.
Third, Evan would soon learn more about the Demonic Tree and its spells from one of the most influential people in the organization. Evan hadn’t expected a meeting like this to happen today, but he had to take advantage of such a fortunate situation.
Evan and Rave remained silent. The journey should have taken very little time, for the Ice Wyvern was an extremely fast beast. Rave forced the Ice Wyvern to use one of his abilities to get to the battlefield in time.
When this ability was used, the wyvern’s wings were covered in various blue runes, and a blue plume began to emanate from its wings. The lower the temperature was in the area, the faster the wyvern became, looking like an ice comet.
“Rave, how did you tame this beast?” Evan asked.
He, too, had a riding beast, the basilisk was in Vextin, and Evan could use it at any time. But, he bought it, not tamed it. Evan also had Reykar, but it was a unique situation, and it was more like mutually beneficial cooperation than the subjugation of a monster to a man. Moreover, the giant rat had a great influence in this case, and it was because of it, Evan was able to make an unusual contract with Reykar.
“It’s simple, you have to find the right beast for you and then get into a fight with it, but there are some very important points here,” Rave said calmly.
He didn’t mind having a conversation with Evan and answering a few of his questions. Rave didn’t see anything wrong with that, moreover, Evan could practically be considered a member of the Demonic Tree by now.
“If you want to tame a beast, you have to have a completely fair fight with it and be a worthy opponent yourself. Even if the beast loses to you, he will not want to obey. He would rather die than go after someone he doesn’t consider worthy. During the fight you must not use any tricks, outside help, and so on. Only your own strength, in which case when the beast loses, he will accept you as his master.” Rave explained in detail.
Evan nodded. He hadn’t expected it to be so easy and so difficult at the same time. For those who had always relied on themselves and their powers, such a condition was no problem. But, for those who used others or overly resorted to artifacts, it would be difficult to tame the beast.
“But, what about the beasts you can buy in a simple store. They cost quite a bit, but you said the beast would recognize the man it defeated as its master.” Evan didn’t understand this illogic.
“Well, you can brainwash beasts with some spells, but that only works on rather weak and therefore stupid beasts. You can’t do something like that with a second-ranked beast or higher, they’re too smart to succumb to such spells.”
“Can’t you just use a stronger spell?” Asked Evan looking at the snow-capped mountains around him.
They were flying at about 3,000 meters, and the peaks of some of the mountains were below them. At that altitude, the temperature was very low, and a normal person would probably freeze in a couple of minutes.
“No, many tried to do what you suggested but then gave up on the idea. If the beast is smart enough, its brain overloads and fails. In that case, the beast would just die, which means it’s impossible to tame the beast forcibly except in a fair fight. Of course, strong Summoners could summon a flying beast, but that was a temporary solution.”
