The Greatest Sinner - Chapter 269
The weapons that Giel chose and that were in the stands could be considered “Catalysts.” Rare metals, minerals, and monster parts were used to create these weapons. They could conduct mana through them, but that did not negate their strength and sharpness.
If someone gives an ordinary human and a mage each a weapon of rank zero, of course, the mage was much stronger. He would cast a spell along with the Catalyst and overpower the ordinary human. However, if you arm one person with a simple steel sword and the other with a sword made of parts of a monster of rank zero, the result would be obvious. The second man’s weapon would easily destroy the first man’s sword.
Evan didn’t ask any questions. He did not believe that an ordinary man could even wound a monster, it was something unreal to him.
The Ice Mutant attacked. First, he ran toward Giel and swung his clawed paws at him, but Giel was utterly calm.
He gripped the shield tighter and waited for the right moment to throw it in the monster’s direction. The shield was a strange, triangular shape with deep gouges. It was similar to a shuriken, which only made it more deadly in flight. Giel wasn’t going to use the shield for protection, he was going to inflict a serious wound on the monster with it.
Whoooosh.
The shield instantly reached the monster and easily severed its arm. Giel aimed for the shoulder and hit exactly where he wanted. The monster had not expected such a turn of events, it thought it was a harmless victim, but suddenly it was he who received the first wound.
Crimson blood gushed from the wide wound, but the Ice Mutant stepped aside and froze the bleeding wound with his icy breath.
“He was able to throw a shield at that speed, I’m sure that shield weighs a lot, that power is abnormal for a mere human.” Commented Evan on what happened.
“Yes, but it’s too early to conclude. Giel hasn’t won yet, the Ice Mutant could well crush him to pieces, just a few hits with those ice claws will suffice.” Rave muttered.
He watched their battle closely. This experiment was one of the most interesting he’d done so far. Rave was delighted with the results obtained in such a short time.
The fight continued with Giel tearing toward the monster. There was no fear in his eyes, only confidence, and strength. He knew that his weapons could kill this monster, and his speed was enough to dodge all attacks.
The Ice Mutant ran at Giel in response. When the monster got close enough to Giel, it swung its claws horizontally.
Giel reacted quickly and made a roll, and slid right under the monster’s claws. The next moment he quickly got to his feet and swung his sword to cut the Ice Mutant’s left leg off at the knee.
The monster didn’t understand what was happening. He went into a fit of rage and tried to grab Giel, this was his last chance to win. But Giel wasn’t going to give the monster that chance, he had one option to win with a hundred percent probability.
He bounced to the side a second before the icy claws were to sink into his flesh. Giel wasn’t going to risk getting close to the monster, his life was at stake in this battle. There was no point in showing off.
Giel walked over to the monster’s severed arm and cut three sharp, icy claws from it. He took the claws in his hands and threw them toward the monster like spears.
The three icy claws plunged into the monster’s chest. Blood gushed, and the monster didn’t even have the strength to stop the bleeding. Then Giel clenched his sword tighter and threw it at the monster. He didn’t take any chances, he knew he would hit the exact target.
Bam.
The sword blade pierced the monster’s head and stayed in it. The Ice Mutant fell dead to the ground, and Giel was the victor. The prize for victory was life.
Clap. Clap. Clap.
Evan slowly began to clap his hands. He was delighted not only with the battle, but also with the results of the experiment. He clapped to praise Giel for the incredible fight and Rave for the extraordinary experiments.
“Are all men as strong as Giel?” Evan asked.
“Unfortunately not, so far, he’s my best creation. This experiment has great potential, but I’m trying to solve a lot of problems. It takes a lot of time and resources.” Calmly said Rave.
“The blood and flesh of monsters are not digestible?” Evan asked.
“Yes.” Rave nodded and calmly said, “In the beginning of the experiment, about 95 percent of the people died. Some began to have cell mutations and overloaded their nervous systems. Some went crazy, and after a couple of days, their brain died, some had their heart explode. I’m trying to fix that. I created potions, matched monsters with blood types, used spells, and I managed to achieve something. Now only 70% of ordinary people die. Maybe someday I can get that number down to 0%.”
<95%, and now 70% is still a lot. But, the experiment is only in its initial phase. It’s really intriguing. Perhaps an ordinary person will be able to compare to a mage of the first rank or even higher. It will be something that will turn the whole world upside down. I’ll definitely have to join this experiment later.>
“What do you plan to do with these people? I’m sure a few people like Giel will have no problem handling a couple of rank zero monsters, even without such high-end equipment.” Asked the question Evan.
There were quite a few people, some were even as strong as Giel. Unfortunately, they had no choice but to fight here. Rave was using them as guinea rats, and he would have no qualms about disposing of the unfortunate specimens. However, Giel and his kind were hardly in any danger.
If they continue to fight, get stronger and win, they would not only stay alive, but they would start a new life for themselves. They would become something new, something in between human, magician, and monster. Such people would resemble vampires in some way, but they would be a very different race.
Rave adjusted his glasses and said with a sigh, “I have many plans for these people.. Their existence will change the whole world.”
