The Greatest Sinner - Chapter 313
Evan had prepared a sigil of the 70th demon – Prince Seere, but there was no point in him even using that sigil and wasting his energy. Evan realized that he wouldn’t be able to handle that many Rainbow Beetles using this demon’s sigil, at least level one.
“Reykar!” Evan said loudly, and a purple raven appeared beside him.
Evan gave the sign, and Reykar began furiously flapping his wings, creating a massive vortex. Evan didn’t know if this attack could kill or hurt the Rainbow Bugs, but the monsters had to be distracted from fighting him.
Evan needed no more than five seconds to draw the right sigil.
As Evan expected, the Rainbow Bugs were distracted and began to attack Reykar. Raven had to fly aside to avoid being attacked by dozens of bugs. Reykar won for Evan only a few seconds, but more than enough.
When the Rainbow Beetles turned their attention to Evan, he grinned at them, holding his palm over the sign drawn in his blood.
The monsters came at him sharply, but Evan only muttered quietly, “Sigil 66th Demon, Marquis Kimaris, activation.”
The next moment Evan found himself in Nirvana, where a demon was already waiting for him.
Kimaris looked human. He had long black hair and snow-white skin. His face was half covered by a helmet as black as the abyss, leaving only his mouth open. He wore black armor that gave off a black aura.
In his left hand was a dark bow, and around it hovered a multitude of dark arrows. Each one looked menacing and deadly. But, that wasn’t all; Kimaris, like some people, had a faithful partner: his horse.
Evan heard the clatter of hooves and saw a black horse galloping toward him. The horse galloped through the air defying all the laws of gravity.
“Give me the power to destroy every one of these vile insects!” Evan said loudly.
Kimaris smiled and said, “You don’t like the light that much? Isn’t a rainbow one of nature’s most beautiful phenomena?”
Evan didn’t answer anything. He looked at the demon with a cold stare.
“I agree with you, though. Light is necessary to keep the darkness from consuming itself. However, when there is too much light, the darkness only gains its power. I will grant your wish. Twenty years.” Said the demon.
Evan nodded. A price like that suited him. He thought Kimaris would ask for at least thirty years, so in some ways, he even thought it wasn’t enough.
Kimaris smiled and reached forward. The next moment, many arrows flew toward Evan and instantly pierced his body.
They took Evan’s life force and returned to the demon with a snap of their fingers. Evan held out his hand, and the demon’s bow headed towards him, then Kimaris disappeared.
Evan exited Nirvana and returned to reality. The bugs almost got to Evan, but suddenly a dark wave of energy emitted from his body.
The monsters had to retreat to the side. Moreover, they sensed a great danger from Evan and signaled their comrades to attack him. More than a hundred Rainbow Beetles headed towards him, but Evan wasn’t worried.
He gripped his black bow tightly and pointed it skyward. A dark arrow appeared in his hands, and Evan slowly drew the bowstring.
The arrow flew upward. It was so fast that it instantly pierced the clouds and disappeared behind them.
The monsters didn’t understand what was going on but decided to take advantage of the situation. In their minds, Evan was defenseless now. But he had already done everything. This one arrow was all the power the demon gave him. After the shot, the bow disappeared, and Evan’s aura returned to normal.
Evan watched the monsters moving toward him with a calm face. He knew that in a second, they would all die.
Whooooooosh.
Suddenly there were many black dots in the sky. The dots were dark arrows, just like the ones Evan had launched into the sky.
Like an avalanche, they rained down on the monsters. Each arrow had no problem penetrating the beetles’ iridescent chitin. Moreover, even if the beetle survived the hit, it fell into madness. The monsters in such a state began to attack their counterparts or themselves.
It destroyed more than a hundred monsters of the second rank in just one attack. It was unheard of power for a mage who had only recently entered the Two-Pointed Star stage.
Evan calmly looked at the dozens of corpses around him and muttered, “I’ve already wasted a third of my life on demon power. It’s a little depressing. I need to increase my lifespan urgently. I can already summon the right demon, though, but that not bodes well for me…”
Evan’s life was, in some ways, his weapon. He could summon incredibly powerful demons if his lifespan were ten thousand years. He could spend thousands of years on a single attack and destroy entire mountains.
Of course, the stronger Evan was, the lower the price was, as his power and energy increased. Moreover, when Evan broke through another Barrier or moved to the next stage, he increased his lifespan. But, this was very different from if Evan could regenerate sacrificed years of life.
After the attack was over, Reykar flew up to Evan and returned to his Nirvana. Evan was not happy with the situation. He did not expect to summon such a powerful demon now and spend twenty years of his life doing so.
Besides, he still needed to find a beast he could fight and tame. Evan had to get out of the Glass Forest somehow.
Some monsters continued to fight the Rainbow Bugs, who were far away and out of the hail of arrows.
Evan paid no attention to this and went on his way. But, suddenly, he felt the ground shake. Evan didn’t understand what was happening, but he saw a huge, white snake come out of the ground the next moment.. It was big enough to curl around the tall tower.
