The Greatest Sinner - Chapter 319
Evan’s duel with the Jade Serpent ended in a real cataclysm that changed half of the Glass Forest beyond recognition. These changes and massive energy fluctuations didn’t go unnoticed.
The mages who were near the Glass Forest at the time headed into the area to find out what had happened there.
The black, massive serpent headed towards Evan and weakly bowed, accepting his defeat. Evan had not defeated the serpent by inflicting mortal wounds on it, but he was able to change an entire area and make the Jade Serpent stronger. This spoke volumes about his true strength and hidden potential.
Moreover, in Jade Serpent’s opinion, Evan’s spirit suited the serpent to submit to him. It was a fair fight, with unique events and a fair ending.
Evan put his hand on the serpent’s head and calmly said, “Your name is now Zith. Our fight was one of the best of my life. I can state that with certainty.”
Zith just hissed back, and Evan jumped on his head and said, “Reykar!”
Simultaneously, a purple raven flew in and sat on Evan’s shoulder. All the while, Reykar was watching their fight closely. Moreover, at some points, he was almost seriously wounded.
Evan’s fire and the storm of chaos were truly formidable and unpredictable attacks. However, Reykar was far from an ordinary monster, albeit with difficulty, remained unharmed.
<I ended up with my riding beast. Like Rave said, if I defeat them in a fair fight, they will accept defeat and acknowledge me as master. That’s good, but I’ve given up too much for this. I need to get ready to summon the 65th demon.> Thought Evan was looking at the altered glass forest.
During this battle, he had better learn how to control the chaos energy. But, there was one big problem, he didn’t know how to emit it at would.
Evan was sure that if he practiced a little, he would create similar whirlwinds in the future. Moreover, now he could partially control the chaos energy. But, it only appeared during Splash.
<Hmm, I need to learn more about the mage’s hidden power that manifests itself during Splash. I need to learn how to create chaos energy at will, not just when Splash happens.>
Evan has learned and gained a lot during this battle. But, he also lost a lot, and Evan was also overwhelmed by the power of the Jade Serpent.
<I had to use every spell I knew, sacrifice 300 years of life to the demon, enter Gust, and even create a storm of chaos. Only after all that was I able to win. Moreover, I received a huge number of wounds. Most likely, the blood of some mighty being flows in Zith’s body. I have no other explanation for its abnormal strength.> Evan thought.
They both have to use only their power during a fight between a beast and a mage. Some might say that Evan won unfairly because he used the demon’s power, but that was not the case.
Many spells in this world hurt the mage for their power. Demon spells were somewhat similar. Only the stakes were hundreds of times greater.
Evan looked around and saw his scythe sticking out of the ground in the distance. He said quietly, “Zith, over there.”
Whoooosh.
At the same instant, the black serpent came into motion, and Evan moved Magma Blood into its spatial ring a second later. Fortunately, nothing happened to the weapon. It was intact, without a scratch.
Evan was about to leave, he needed to get back to the tower, but suddenly he saw several mages heading for the border of the altered part of the Glass Forest.
<They are dressed in white robes, but they don’t look like members of Golden Glow. It’s probably some weak light organization. But it doesn’t matter. They made a big mistake coming here.> Evan thought.
He looked coldly at the mages walking in his direction and said, “Zith, after our fight, you are wounded and must be very tired and hungry. Would you like a bite to eat before we hit the road?”
It was a rhetorical question. The serpent hissed and the next moment turned into black lightning.
The mages in white robes had no time to understand anything. They did not know why the serpent suddenly attacked them or how it had even noticed them at such a great distance. Some of them tried to defend themselves, but Zith swallowed them.
A loud crackling and muffled screams were heard next. Evan did not look at these mages using Mammon’s Gaze. But judging by their auras, Evan assumed they were at the One-Pointed Star stage.
“Alright, now it’s time to go home. I have a lot of work to do.” Said Evan pointing in the direction of his tower.
Evan thought that Zith was about to start crawling, heading at breakneck speed toward the tower, but instead, the kite stopped in place. Evan didn’t understand the reason for this strange action, but then he felt Zith’s aura increase rapidly.
Zith decided to use his special ability, which had undergone significant changes after his body changed. The chaos energy changed not only his appearance but also his characteristics.
Some of the scales opened up, and mana emanated from beneath them. Evan began to guess what the serpent was about to do.
“Huh, this is incredible. It looks like we won’t have to go through dangerous terrain. That’s real luck.” Mumbled Evan.
The next moment the amount of mana emanating from the scales increased, and Zith abruptly soared into the air and flew. A plume of black as the abyss was left behind him, and the dark scales with the outgoing mana looked like black, tongues of flame.
The kite’s speed was tremendous. In just a few hours, Evan would already be at his tower.
…
As Evan flew home on top of Zith, many mages showed their interest in the changes of the Glass Forest. Informants sent their subordinates to gather information, and heads of all organizations tried to find out what happened there.
This situation was unique, not because of the amount of destruction but because of the transformation of an entire area.
