The Guardians’ Throne – The First Magic Swordsman - Chapter 484
While Zaos was thirsting for his fight against the demon god, he couldn’t do a single thing since he wasn’t there in physical form. Instead of that, he was planning to weaken everyone while using Milliendra as a vessel. He tried to smash Zaos with ice spears, but Zaos repelled them. When Drannor’s turn came, he did the same.
The demon god grew impatient while seeing those two swords and two humans that actually could wield them. They were his destined enemies of that era, but he didn’t have any intentions of fighting them for real until his body was completely restored. Without any other choice, the demon god attacked the others. Nyana repelled some of the ice spears by using her own Fire Arrows. Meanwhile, Cohnal protected himself and Melisse with his greatsword. Drian did the same and protected Dalyor and Laiex, but it was evident that they wouldn’t last forever…
“Millie! Answer me!” Drannor shouted. “We are finally here to free you from this monster! Fight back! Don’t let him control you!”
While Drannor was trying to wake up Milliendra with her voice, Zaos looked for Milliendra’s gloves and found them completely destroyed on the other side of the magic circle… that wasn’t good. Without them, he didn’t have any other idea of how to stop the demon god’s powers and influence over Milliendra.
The demon god grew impatient over the resilience of that small group and decided to change his tactics. Instead of ice, he made massive pillars of fire appear around the magic circles and made them approach the group. Zaos used Thunder Armor and swung and split those pillars in a single instant. He didn’t know if that would work, but it worked… his sword disturbed the flow of mana of the spells and made it dissipate.
“You monster… how dare you to use my granddaughter like that…” Dalyor said while clenching his teeth.
“Ah, the current king…” The demon god said. “What an irony that I didn’t expect… to think that the mage that would have the power to withstand my powers would be born in your family. I don’t dislike it… by using Milliendra, I will wipe out your entire family. If you want to blame anyone, blame your ancestors for the crimes they committed against me.”
Dalyor bit his lips in exasperation. He had heard from Zaos what apparently happened before and the fact that the demon god had once been a hero that saved the world. But the jealousy of his ancestors made him and his tribe get ostracized by the world as a whole. Dalyor wanted to say that he didn’t have anything to do with the crimes of his ancestors, but he couldn’t say that. Whatever they did in the past, it led to the current situation. It also led him to become a king… Not to mention, Dalyor only recently realized that he blindly followed in his ancestors’ footsteps and did several unforgivable things as well. He used Zaos as a tool to create a perfect legend for his family, and while things more or less worked for Ameria and Drannor for a while, there was a chance that it could have brought misfortune to them…
Dalyor also never questioned the things that he learned from his parents and grandparents… the fact that they used followers of the demon god to make focus amulets, the inconvenient truths that he hid to keep away from the eyes of the population, the ugly history of his kingdom.
“You don’t have anything to say in your defense?” The demon god asked. “Then die already. The others will quickly follow you.”
The demon god created a massive earth spear in the sky and fired toward Dalyor, but Drannor jumped and attacked the projectile. With a single swing of his sword, he destroyed the spear. Still, Zaos noticed Drannor’s body was starting to emit a lot of heat… unlike his powers with magic, Drannor could keep enhancing his body indefinitely, as long as his sword had enough blood stored in it. However, his body had limitations… he would soon feel the same effects that he had suffered when he enhanced his body with magic beyond the limits.
“Zaos… I have an idea,” Aleni whispered.
“You don’t have to whisper. While he is controlling Milliendra, his whole mana is surrounding us,” Zaos said. “In any case, I know what you are thinking… we will have to hurt Milliendra a little bit.”
“You won’t do that… I will kill you before you scratch her,” Drannor said.
“All right… Let’s wait for a while longer until you aren’t able to interfere due to muscular pains,” Zaos said while looking Drannor in the eye.
Something seemed off with that conversation. Drannor realized that because he could see in Zaos’ eyes that he would never hurt Milliendra. It was a trap to fool the demon god… Drannor clicked his tongue because he didn’t want to follow Zaos’ crazy ideas. He was infamous, thanks to them, after all.
Still, Drannor dashed toward Milliendra while pretending that he didn’t listen to Zaos. The demon god blocked his path with numerous Earth walls, but Drannor destroyed them with his sword. However, the demon god had something else in store for him… he didn’t use that until now for some reason, but he fired a Thunder Spear toward him.
Even Zaos was caught off guard. There was no mention of the demon god using that kind of spell on the scrolls, after all. It only mentioned that he could control the four basic elements… but it wasn’t impossible for him to copy Zaos’ spells… Nevertheless, Drannor blocked the attack with his sword, and while the massive projectile illuminated the area, Zaos used Thunder armor and approached the demon god instantly.. After deactivating the spell, Zaos used Cleanse on Milliendra by using the largest amount of mana he could control in a single second to enhance the spell’s effectiveness. When the demon god noticed what had happened, it was already too late, and Milliendra opened her eyes…
