The Guardians’ Throne – The First Magic Swordsman - Chapter 487
Zaos could imagine that Drannor’s sword could absorb the blood around them. It was the only explanation as to why he was retreating… Although Drannor was retreating, Zaos dashed toward the enemy.
“You take the right side,” Zaos said.
Drannor turned around and then realized what Zaos was talking about. A blue, muscular monster that had wings under his arms was getting closer to him, so Drannor dashed at the same moment Zaos reached him. Before the monster could attack them, they dashed toward it and swung their weapons. In the next moment, the blue monster lost both arms and wings and fell on the ocean of blood, unable to swim. While the creature probably will regenerate after a while, it wasn’t something that they could care about if the monster drowned first.
A few moments later, a group of demons with very pointy mouths resembling eagles and a skeletal body jumped over the rubbles and prepared their spears to stab Zaos and Drannor. It was the first time Zaos had seen a monster that could use weapons, but that could help them…
Zaos and Drannor split up again to make the enemies focus on two points at the same time. Zaos waited for two of the enemies to approach him, and he only reacted at the last moment. By enhancing his sword with wing magic, he beheaded the creatures with a single strike and took their spears. At the same time, Zaos completely cut into pieces the head of one of the monsters and left the other intact while they sank in the ocean of blood.
“Watch your back and conserve your strength,” Zaos said while he was looking at Drannor fighting the monsters and chopping them into pieces. “He might be waiting for us to grow tired or drop our guards to attack.”
The number of demons approaching wasn’t decreasing. Still, instead of looking at them, Zaos was looking toward the horizon… that world was too weird, the sky was completely dark, and there was no source of energy around, and yet, they could see things in the distance fairly well. It seemed like some light was coming from the ocean, but Zaos couldn’t exactly see any signs of it due to the density of the blood. Nevertheless… while Zaos waited for the monsters, they completely had taken the piles of rubble in the area, so Zaos wouldn’t be able to move without fighting them…
Those blue demons opened their mouths and shot Fireballs toward Zaos, but he repelled them by swinging his sword around. He felt like Guardian’s Heart had dispelled some sort of energy, but he didn’t recover any… it wasn’t mana. Still, the monsters had some type of SPIRITUAL energy source.
“It seems that you don’t know everything about this place, Elisius,” Zaos said. “While the swords can’t get their energy or blood, they still can do a few things.”
“… I am the demon god, you will refer to me like that, unless you want to suffer a terrible death,” Elisius said.
“Eww… I am so scared… can you do anything while you hide yourself like a worm?” Zaos asked. “I don’t think so… by the way, you sure like to hide, huh? Hiding behind a little girl, hiding in the north… using magic to hide. You sure are talented.”
Both worlds were connected in a way, so perhaps eliminating all the monsters was the best option. Still, Zaos and Drannor had limits, and it was impossible to know if the number of monsters was something they could. Hence, he tried to taunt Elisius… but the demon god didn’t do anything. Either he couldn’t attack while keeping himself invisible, or he was waiting for a golden chance to kill Zaos and Drannor at the same time.
The blue demons attacked Zaos with their Fireballs for a while and from all angles, but Zaos focused on defense while he waited for some results. After a while, he confirmed that the monster that cut their arms and wings drowned. However, out of the two he cut after, one returned… it was the one that he only beheaded.
“Focus on destroying their heads. They have something there that Grants them the power to regenerate from most wounds,” Zaos shouted.
Drannor had noticed that some of his enemies that he had cut down had returned, but only now did he understand why. In any case, it was a pain, and they didn’t have time to check with parts of the heads they had to destroy to completely kill the monsters. With that in mind, Zaos sheathed his sword and grabbed the other one. It would be harder to block long-ranged attacks since he could only use a single hand, but Zaos would manage…
When the monsters saw Zaos changing his weapon, they charged toward him, only those armed with spears, though. Zaos enhanced his right arm with magic and then waited for the last moment. When the spears almost hit him, Zaos swung his greatsword and then smashed the heads of the monster. Even before the bodies could fall on the ocean, Zaos grabbed the spears and fired them at the other enemies. At a fearsome speed and precision, Zaos destroyed the heada of other monsters, making them fall dead on the pile of rubble.
“No wonder you saved the world from these… they are too easy,” Zaos said. “You didn’t feel very accomplished after that and still wished to be praised by the whole world, huh. That is what I call a planet-sized ego.”
It seemed that Zaos’ taunting skills needed some work since he didn’t notice Elisius reacting in any way. Nevertheless, the monsters were starting to get wary of him since they were attacking mindlessly like before, but that wouldn’t help them unless Elisius stopped hiding and came to fight.
Zaos looked toward Drannor once more, and he noticed that despite that he wasn’t going all out, he was beginning to sweat a lot, and his movements seemed sluggish… Zaos recalled that his group spent the night awake trying to open the path from the snow, and knowing him, it was safe to say that he didn’t wait for his soldiers to do that, he helped them as well, and now he was paying the price for it….
