The Guilt Of Chrysanthemum - Chapter 1 Esmeraldo
I have thought of a painless yet sinful plan to execute my brother. Do not judge me easily for I have my reason. I cannot also bear the thought lingering above, running through my mind everytime I see my dear brother Anahaw smiling at me and telling me about his adventures outside the palace. I could feel the guilt stinging on my chest everytime he teach me how kill a deer and praise me for accomplishing it. I always felt like demolishing my plan but everytime I hear and see females being treated unfairly, I think that if no one else is going to do it for me, I might as well do it myself.
“My dear sister! I have a surprise for you!” he shouted and opened my door that swung, with the sound of it banging on the wall.
Oh, there he is.
“What is it might be, brother?” I replied placing a smile on my face after I put my pen down, I was writing my summer adventure. I love Anahaw, don’t get me wrong. Being him as my brother has been always nice.
He swayed his hands at the doorway, making an entrance for someone.
“Esmeraldo!”
Esmeraldo is our childhood friend. He and my brother have always taught me fighting skills and building traps. We always hang out and pull pranks on each other. After our parents died, Esmeraldo told us that he’ll be going to the South for an errand and don’t know when he’ll be able to come back. He told us that cannot tell us what that errand is until he gets back. And right know, he’s back!
“Surprise!” he said and rushed forward to hug me. I hugged him back and felt a huge comfort and familiarity. Anahaw also reached for us and we all hugged each other being bunch of idiots like we already are.
“Now that you are back, mind telling us about your errand?” Anahaw said and I immediately gazed at Esmeraldo.
We all sat down and the surrounding became more serious. What is it might be?
“Nipa, your father, asked me for a favor before he died.” he said and looked at us.
“He told me to go to Drako and study there.”
“But we also have a school here.” I replied.
“It was also for another purpose. The late king told me that he had been feeling that Drako is going to do something horrible to the palace. He took interest in the bread industry that we have been producing and trading successfully. He didn’t know when Drako would do something so he needed someone to keep an eye inside their kingdom. Nipa said that it is not suspicious when I go for I have always been interested in archery and their kingdom is the best and known for it. They have been always in good terms with each other but when the late king talks about the bread produce, Drako seems very interested in it.” he said.
“During my stay, I realized that Nipa was right. I learned that they had been planning on stealing the kingdom for past few years now. I have been gathering information and immediately went back here when I heard about the day they’ll attack.”
“When will it be?” Anahaw asked.
“Tomorrow night.”
Anahaw and Esmeraldo hurried off and told the soldiers about the plan for tomorrow night. They gathered their men and went for an intense practice to prepare for the battle. I hope I could convince Anahaw to let me join. Esmeraldo was the mind of the plan and Anahaw will be the fist. They have been always the perfect duo. Nothing could beat them easily that is why I do not worry. Besides, being in this family made me immune to worrying about family members going out for battles and thinking if they would come back safe and sound. It could make my plan to easily be done actually.
