The Guilt Of Chrysanthemum - Chapter 2 Fight Of The Witties
I felt the warmth of the sun spreading across my arms. I peeked a little and saw Breath, my maid.
“Good morning m’lady, it is time for you to wake up.” she said with a beaming smile on her face.
“Good morning to you too.” I replied and prepared for the day.
After breakfast, I saw the soldiers gathering and practicing outside. I went down and changed my outfit.
I went to the ground and practice with other soldiers. They are used to me running around and practicing with some of them.
“Good morning your highness, are you coming with us to fight this evening?” Guidon said and swung his sword, I managed to dodge it.
“My brother won’t let me even if I wanted to.” I replied hitting him on his left thigh.
He chuckled and hissed a little bit, then jumped backwards. I would’ve been able to cut his left hip, darn.
“That’s a waste then.” he said and we circled around.
One of the soldiers that managed to cope up with me is Guidon. He’s been able to be one of my practice buddies because the others ended up losing or not even trying at all for they don’t see me as someone their “equal” or so they say.
A silver dagger caught my eye aiming from my right and gladly I was able to manage to jump out of it.
“Oh hey there you two!” It was Esmeraldo smirking. He withdraw his dagger and glanced at Guidon.
“This is Guidon, one of my practice mates.” I said and pointed at Guidon.
“Esmeraldo.” He said and placed his hand for a handshake. Guidon took it and smiled.
“So, mind if I join you?” Esmeraldo said and we practiced.
It is now evening and I can feel the tension outside and inside the palace. The soldiers are now in their position and so are my brother and Esmeraldo.
I heard the swords and grunts of the knights, it is killing time.
I went outside my room and saw the view from the outside, the arrows are perfectly aimed to our men. Luckily, most of them are able to dodge them because Esmeraldo already told them were they should be aiming at.
I can feel the itch on my hands to get a sword and fight. I ran downstairs and went to the bread production house.
I was catching my breath sprinting to the back door and Anahaw saw me.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” he was furious.
“I want to fight with you. I am here already so don’t go nagging on me or they might hear you.” I replied.
I saw Esmeraldo with the bread makers and he was surprised when he saw me. He gave me the look why-are-you-here, and I just shrugged.
Anahaw and the others went outside when he saw Drako, of course I joined.
“Milord, what a surprise visit to our kingdom!”
I can see the horror in Drako’s eyes aiming at my brother’s. He saw Esmeraldo beside Anahaw and realized about everything.
“Oh what a welcoming kingdom you have here! I can see that this little twat of yours is the little snake that you planted in ours. I hope he was able to learn a lot from us.” Drako said keeping his cool.
“Yeah! Just like you said A LOT!” Esmeraldo said and triggered Drako.
We ran and screamed to Drako and his army. I can feel the thrill and excitement resonating within me.
“Just wait for my men and you’ll see!” Drako shouted.
“Oh no, but those men are already dead.” Anahaw said and it made Drako more miserable. He might be thinking that he must be really a fool to think that our kingdom couldn’t outsmart him.
I slashed the throat of an enemy and instantly felt the momentum. I stabbed another at my back and hear the last scream of his. I can feel the blood on my arms and legs and smell the bodies of the freshly killed men. I turned around and saw an enemy aiming for my eyes, I immediately dodge it and aim my sword right through his chest after that I gouged his eyes.
“Ohh pity.” I heard Esmeraldo chuckled.
I smirked and saw that Anahaw already killed Drako.
After killing every enemy from our sight we screamed and shouted for our victory. Meats and booze were given to us and we went for a huge feast.
I went back to the palace and saw that some of our men were injured, but luckily they told me that none of our knights died. It must be really good to outwit your enemy.
As I walked to the halls of the second floor, I saw the feast outside where my brother, Esmeraldo, and Guidon sat close to each other with our knights laughing and drinking their asses out.
I went inside my room and saw Breath, she immediately gave me my change of clothes.
“Don’t you want to join the feast, your highness?” she asked me.
“Not until I get my bath.” I said and rushed to the warm tub.
