The Guilt Of Chrysanthemum - Chapter 4 Alliance
I am practicing alone right now because Guidon is busy with the others. Esmeraldo is also doing some paper works that he can’t leave because of the reason that I have no idea what it is. All I can do now is build up my physical strength more and arrange my plans.
Maybe it would be better if I poision him.
“Where would I even get it?” I muttered to myself.
“Get what?”
I immediately turned at my back and saw a man. He is taller and much less paler than me. He has pair of brown eyes which is beautifully presented by the ray of the sunlight. His built is strong and his black hair is what makes him more attractive. Wait.. what am I saying? I don’t even know this man!
“Who are you and why are you here?!” I said and pointed my sword at him.
He chuckled and put his both hands up.
“Relax milady, I won’t hurt you.” he said. I frowned on his smiling face. He became more charismatic.
“Answer my question!” I commanded.
“Magnus, your highness.” he said and bowed.
“What brings you to—”
“Magnus! Nice to meet you.” I heard a familiar voice.
“You must be King Anahaw! It’s a pleasure to be finally able to meet you!” Magnus replied and bowed.
“Yes, and this is my sister, Chrysanthemum.” Anahaw said, looking at me and back to Magnus.
“Oh what a beautiful name milady has, why would someone pretty like you hold a sword? Your hands are more dazzling with roses held by you.” he said and I rolled my eyes. My brother and Magnus chuckled.
“Why is that man here?” I asked. I saw Magnus’ face turned disappointed when he did not hear his name.
“There have been some complications with the North and we need an alliance. Magnus is one of the representatives that King Jacob send to help. He also brought some finest men with him to accompany.” Anahaw said. I know that complications means they’ll be going for a battle.
“Oh! Can I-”
“No.”
Darn, I rolled my eyes and swung my sword at my brother. Of course the show off he is, he blocked it with his armor. I saw Magnus’ grinning face. Darn you both.
“Let’s go, shall we?” dear soon-to-be-dead brother Anahaw said to Magnus and they both walked to the palace.
It was a gloomy afternoon and the rain started pouring. I just finished my book and was about to go back to my room when I saw Magnus with his men. He saw me and gave me a smile.
“Hi milady!” he said as he passed by me. I rolled my eyes and walked opposite his direction. That is the fourth time seeing that guy and he’d been annoying me with that dazzling smile of his. The hell am I blushing at?
I tried hiding my smile as I walk back to my room but that just made look like an idiot. Some are asking me if i’m alright and some are delightful about my expression saying that it looks good when I smile.
I went inside my room and saw Breath bowed down.
“Milady, you seem happy on this gloomy weather.” she said. I can see that something is wrong with her expression.
“N-no, it’s nothing.” I replied.
“I hope you didn’t mind if I clean your room earlier.” she stated.
“Oh thank you but are you alright Breath? Is something wrong?” I asked. I have known Breath since my teenage years, I can see that something is worrying her.
“I know that you love your brother very much, milady. I hope that your motive with your brother can change. You can tell your brother your worries and wants so you can fix everything.” I suppose she found out about my plan. My joyful expression turned into blank.
“It isn’t that easy, Breath. I have been doing that for the past 5 years and the only thing that happened is that you and your mates learned basic fighting skills.” I said. She sighed and sat down beside me.
“I know that you have your reasons, I am sorry to have found about your secret but I ensure you milady that I won’t tell anyone.” Breath said.
I felt relieved. I know that Breath is trust worthy so I am not going to doubt her promise. But i’ll still be ready for anything that could happen. People change.
“Why would you keep my secret?” I asked. It was for assurance, I need to make sure she sticks by my side.
She shrugged. “Well, you treat me like i’m not a slave. You give me time for myself and I am very thankful for everything you’ve done for me. I wouldn’t mind keeping in another secret other than you escaping and hunting deers in the woods without your brother knowing.” she said and we laughed.
“But your majesty.”
“Yes?”
“I will not help you with it, I hope you understand me. I am still a maid of this palace and a loyal maid to you and the king.” she said and looked down.
I smiled at her. “It’s okay, I don’t mind. He is still the king, isn’t he?” I said and she smiled back to me.
I hope my brother is scrunching his nose right now.
