The Harukian Chronicler - Chapter 12
Well… it’s been a few days now; and I can absolutely tell you that being an infant is quite boring. Nearly a week after our birth; we’ve been brought around the hut instead of being kept in that little room. Mama also brings us outside for at least an hour everyday; in intervals of course. It’s quite peaceful right now… but I am bored out of my mind. Though I learn more every day by talking with Hannash and Mala.
There are the occasional visitors; mama’s adventuring friends, from how they speak they’re part of the same “Clan”, which according to Mala is the name used for the Adventurer made Guilds. Then there’s Grandfather, he comes by to see his daughter and his grandbabies quite often; part of me wonders if he actually has any work to do since he comes by so often. Though my brothers are still slightly afraid of him, he has gotten to hold them more often, the crying becoming less and less.
Father, as the town’s strategist and scholar, is often meeting with many of the influential oldies from various aspects of life that the town oversees. He brought me with him to the main hall during the meeting to speak about what to do with the Appraiser; considering the offense that she did was to a main branch member of the Haruk Clan. My markings, and an appraiser from another city to do a proper appraisal; were all brought up with the Elders during the trial. From what I understand, she was to be exiled from Handrak completely, as she had lost the entire trust of the Clan.
Speaking of… my clan actually owns the frichen country… The Country of Handrak is owned by the Clan Haruk; holy f.u.c.king s.h.i.t, that’s quite a heavy burden. The town we’re in is actually called Freyjan, which my Grandfather is the Jarl of. The main capital is called Tigren, where the High King is currently living; who is my grandfather’s brother, so no pressure to make sure no shame comes upon the family name from me. Yeah… no pressure…
The land my family resides on is actually quite large; with the Main hall where discussions are had, also has the kitchen and a few bedrooms for the family members. There’s a servants quarters which houses a few people that help with daily life; they’re nice people, a few of the younger girls help mom out with keeping us babies entertained. Of course the hut we’re staying in, which is used for infant rearing during the first few months of life; up to a year. There’s even a private training ground where a few guardsmen hone their skills; but only the ones that grandfather has protecting the grounds.
Beyond all of this; there is of course the actual town of Freyjan, though I have yet to see it close up. The view from the hilltop we reside is breathtaking though; and I can’t wait to be old enough to go and explore everything that is there. Hunt within the plains and forest that are nearby, explore the mountains that are far off… just seeing all of this makes one yearn for adventure. Though… I think all of this, but from the map function that Mala has built into her Life’s Guide ability; woohoo, I am able to actually see just how ma.s.sive the plains are… and how many red dots are within it.

[“My map shows the enemies that are around; and if you concentrate on them, you can see their listed stats, seeing as you have the Keeper’s Eye ability. With the amount of points you put into us, with the two abilities combined you can get a 3D rendering of the creature, as well as listing of all Abilities, Traits, Stats, and Techniques the creature holds.”] Mala proudly states, letting herself get carried away with her explanations; [“The Red dots are the creatures that pose a threat to the Holder; as he is an infant, most are listed as such. There are also Blue dots which show weaker enemies, Green dots which show allies, White dots which show neutrals, and Black dots… which are dead bodies.”] She moves the map to the graveyard, which shows the corpses within as black dots.
Considering how useful that is… but it gets even better as she continues;
[“If you put in a certain criteria; I am even able to show on the map where certain ent.i.ties matching said criteria are. In example, let’s say you were to want herbs that can be used to make healing poultices, then I would highlight in Gold where these were.”] Taking this into consideration… I concentrate on the search function and begin searching for… well, let’s look for something stupid; ~Jackalope~…
[“Four ent.i.ties found within a four mile radius from the Holder; would you like to pull one up?”] Well… do I feel like I have egg upon my face now. I don’t really feel like pulling one up at the moment; so I’ll just leave it as such for now. This could be fun if I got a bit bored; especially since I can look around the town with the map, and see people real time.

After a month had pa.s.sed by, mother was allowed to bring in her soul beasts to the house; introducing them to us. By this time, Yehai and Nihlis have opened their eyes, but were still getting used to it; as opposed to me, Yehai has blue sapphire like eyes, and Nihlis is more of an emerald like green. They keep staring at mom when she holds them; which is understandable… same with crying when grandpa comes in, and being curious about dad.
Speaking of mom’s beasts; the oldest is a rather large wolf, her name is Jihara, and she’s a very motherly creature. When she first saw us, she came over and began licking each of us in turn; before laying next to us… and if I reached out my hand I could have pet her large head. I can see why my mother values her highly; they are pretty much the same person in separate bodies, wonder if that was how it all started.
Though if anything, her other creatures had differing personalities; in total my mother has around three different creatures that have their own function in her solo team. Members of a “Clan” can either work in a team with other clan-members, work in a solo party with their own creatures… or do both, no one really cares. Depending on if her friends are able to join her or not; Mother prefers to hunt with her contracted beasts, as they all have a different form of rhythm… or so as she says. I am an infant, I have nothing else to do all day but listen to my mother babble on about nothing in particular.
Looking at the different forms of her beasts; besides Jihara who is a wolf, she also has a Robin type bird for a contracted beast, and the final one is a… Bunny. From what she says, the difference between a creature that can become a contracted beast and a normal animal; is that they had “Evolved” to being able to use Mana. There’s also a visual change to the creature as well; as in they have glowing marks on their bodies… it’s different from creature to creature.
So her Robin is the scout of the party; her name is Londia, and she is able to pa.s.s her vision onto her master. The Bunny is stealthy, oddly, and his name is Yucka. What’s amazing is that he actually evolved a magical element, that being of Terra; so he is able to cast differing earth based magics.
Jihara is a damage type of creature; being able to break through most defenses with her tough fangs, and the ability she evolved of Iron Bones. This makes her bones as tough as iron, and thus makes it so the damage she takes from attacks is lessened, and much harder to break her. This does increase her weight; and she is able to deal quite a fair bit of damage if she was to body charge a creature.
Lord, I’m only a month old, and I am already in the middle of cla.s.s… teacher, I think your son needs a cleaning over there; please stop teaching long enough that you can clean him. I am busy trying to at least get the next stage of Regen open, so I can use things more often… or something else that could be useful… that I can train as a baby… Good lord I am bored!
