The Harukian Chronicler - Chapter 16
Like that, three months pa.s.s on by, in relative peace and tranquility… with me having done nothing of too much note… well, I learned how to walk in this time. I am no expert with it, but I am able to stand on my own and move my little feet until I am moving at a decent pace; this is also helping with my stamina regen. It was beginning to snow outside now, so we weren’t allowed to go out and walk too much, but I was given free reign to traverse around the house. According to mama and papa, we’d be moving into the main longhouse soon, so as to not be out here during winter. I had started to begin trying to speak to them…
“Ma…ma.” And at just THAT, Indra began to cry relentlessly, hugging me tightly to her and just giving me a warm and comfortable love. I decided to let my first words to try and be Mama, just because if I did anything else, she’d be… a little sad… but lord I did not expect her to do this. It wasn’t long before…
“Mama.”
“Mam..”
“Ma…”
Three babies each calling for the one person in their life and was more important than anything else; I had a better understanding for language than the other two, so they could only say so much. I did notice Yehai making better strides… did he seriously have a rivalry sense in him towards me? This was quite cute. Nihlis was taking him time, just following his older brothers… I could tell he was happy that he made mom happy with just that little bit. Boy… was she happy with having all three of her children each calling for her. I wondered if there was a limit to the amount of tears that she could produce from her body… but they just kept coming.
“My babies… they keep calling me… they want their Mama…” Indra cried so many tears at her boys calling her, saying Mama in their own ways. Her little Zeri was saying it fully, followed my little Yeh… he seemed to have a small rivalry with Zeri. Trying to eat the same as Zeri, speaking the same, even moving the same to try and catch up. Nihl though, he was happy moving at his own pace; which made her happy too. Each baby was special; “Little boys, don’t worry… mama is here, and she will always be. I’ll be here for you boys until you can’t see me; but I’ll always be here.” She smiled, kissing each baby on the forehead.
…
…
Zekiel came back one day with some bundles with him; they had been clothing their sons in light and simple clothes, but he got them some heavy warm clothes for the winter months… and some shoes for Yehai and Nihlis. It would be difficult to get some footwear for Zeri, as his legs were in constant Demonization, which was a curse of being a half-demon. When the other two showed their half-blood selves, then they’d have some permanent showings as well. Looking at the clothes; they were just simple pants and shirts, some jackets and fur lined gloves. There were also some wool socks and leather shoes with fure inside; to keep the little feet warm.
His wife had sent him out to get these, cause she wants to see the boys walking in thew snow. The demon gives a small laugh as he comes in to see his wife crying as always… she was an emotional woman, and enjoyed her many emotions. Giving her a kiss on the forehead, he pa.s.ses her the clothes and a smile;
“So why is mama crying this time?” A sly smile follows,
“Nihlis just started to be able to say Mama… his voice is so cute!” Indra cries due to the cuteness of her boys… Zekiel gives a small chuckle before kissing her temple gently; looking around for the boys.. Nihlis is on Indra’s lap and looking up at him, with a small Papa, filling the old demon with warmth. Yehai… he looked to be looking out the window on a chair, such a little explorer he was. Usually he would be found following his older brother… but where was he… Zekiel looked around for the horned little demon.
“Dear… where is Zeri?” Zekiel looks to his wife, a little worried about the child that would run a thousand miles if he was able to… he’d probably crawl the distance if he was forced to…
“Oh, I heard him in your study… if I had to guess he was looking for a book.” Indra just smiles, playing with Nihlis’s face and hands, being a cute mama with cute baby; “He takes too much after you, always looking for new knowledge…” She pouts, wanting all babies to be half and half….
“Ah, I’ll go see him there… try to dress the boys in their winter clothes so we can get them outside to play; being cooped up is not good for growing children.” Zekiel kisses his wife once more, getting a kiss in return… pulling away from those peach lips to go and hunt for the little individual. The old demon sighs softly as he walks to his study, the little room where the appraisal was done all those months ago; walking in to find his missing son on the floor with a rather large book open. From the looks of it, Zeri was trying to read through the book; but it would be surprising if he even knew the alphabet.
“Hey there sweet child. What are you doing?” Zekiel gets down on the ground with his son, looking at the book that the boy was looking so intently at… not being too surprised at the choice. Looking at the contents and the cover, one could tell that it was simply an alphabet book… but not for the spoken or written language; it was a runic alphabet book. This was for the Futhark style of runes that are prevalent within Handrak. Zekiel thought that the book was just a random pick from the shelf, and not at all chosen specifically by his son; after all, a baby picking this was very difficult to comprehend.
…
…
The young half-demon on the other hand, I was reading the book completely on purpose; this was something that I had asked Mala if there was something nearby that could teach him how to write runes. It was great that my father was such an avid reader and knowledge hound; I might not have to thirst for books for the long run. Without needing to look further than my father’s study or book repositories, then I would be able to learn everything I need.
I was learning this runic language for one main reason; this was the best runes in Handrak when it came to creating magical seals and circles for either enchanted equipment or… other applications. This was something that I was looking forward to doing later on; as one of the skills that would be easy to learn later on would be “Magical Enchanting”. This skill would require me to learn one of the many rune languages, which is a little bit harder than one would think… it’s actually a skill in itself.
Well, I had just started to read the book and try to get some of the runes in my head… but my father had decided to pick me up at this time and put the book away. He looked to have a rather proud look on his face, but he gave me a knowing smile;
“Little Zeri, that might be a little out of your league for the time being. Come now; your mother is waiting, we got you some new clothes for you to try on and go outside to play in the snow. Would you like that?” Zekiel smiled as he carried the little demon, happy that one of them had inherited his horns… a sort of pride amongst the demon clan he was from. Carrying his child into the other room; they both found that Indra had stripped the clothes off Nihlis, who was getting all giggly and wiggly when it came to putting on the fur clothes… Indra wasn’t helping the matter, smiling and laughing with her son.
Zekiel sighed as he stared at his cute wife… Zeri couldn’t help but follow suit and sigh with his father…
“See, he took too much after you!” Indra pouts at both husband and son combo sighing.
