The Heiress - Chapter 13
“Work for me” she repeated again, this time, her words were serious.
The man didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. On one point of view, this woman was typing away on her phone and was carrying a gun with a silencer that was ready to shoot him off at any moment, while on the other she was crazy to even hire him when he tried to stalk her. It was completely impossible for him to understand her therefore giving her a look.
“F**k off, just kill me” he said. He knew that nobody really wanted him for he was just a trash who found a job for being able to stalk people.
“I am serious Ex-commander Ji Tao Gin, work for me” she gave him her most sincere expression that made him feel like crying. No one has ever called him by his name ever since he left. He thought no one would be able to recognize him anymore
“how..how did you know?” he asked with an incredulous expression plastered on his face.
“why do you think I’m holding this phone? Just so you know, this is a phone I asked to be personally made analyzes DNA. Getting a drip of blood from you would tell me every information I need. It’s military work I tell ya” Hui Yin said while holding up her personal phone for him to see.
“besides, it’s not like I didn’t picked up a thing or two about you” she smiled as she reminisced her days there
“yo..you–” Tao Gin’s face was flushed in embarrassment as he stuttered, not knowing what to say.
He was surprised by the fact that this woman in front of him, not only knew his name but also his personal information. It was a fact that he was a commander in the army but he became crippled after the incident in Pakistan. Sighing, he looked up to the girl and said “I’m old goods, woman. You should just kill me, if not, torture me..but why won’t you?”
“I know you wouldn’t tell a soul about anything you come upon. Well..anyone except your employer. So it’s useless. Furthermore, you were part of the people who saved the county, why would I really want to kill a hero eh?” truthfully I could just kill him anytime but….
“Tell me, do you want to work for me or not? I’m now wasting my time as it is” thinking hard on the girl’s words, he hesitated. He really didn’t know what use he would be..unless…
“girl, are you thinking of using me as a–”
“no” Hui Yin cut him off. She hadn’t even thought of using him as a sacrificial lamb to kill. She didn’t need him for that.
“what will you have me do?”
“I want you to work for me in gathering information. No buts and the likes”
“what do I get in return?”
“you won’t die and I’ll pay you”
“okay” truthfully speaking, it was hard to pledge a person’s life to someone. Much less sacrificing themselves for their sakes, but what was he to do? All he could do is survive, he’ll just go with the flow and let this girl lead his life
“very well then, get in the car. Oh and I’ll be calling you Gin from now on” ‘really, this girl has no elderly respect at all’ he thought as he got in
Both drove in silence. Ji Tao Gin, not knowing where she would bring him couldn’t help but be curious, but as he was afraid that she would downright kill him and kick him off the road, he kept silent and waited. The car swerved right and they were driving up on a narrow alley. It was dark and trees covered them from the view of the stars, only the car’s headlights lead them along the path. The car drove up on a large villa. It was the same villa she went to the first day she arrived. As expected no one was there, the old gate suddenly opened as she pressed a button in her car.
She let grandpa Mark and everyone else vacate and stop maintaining the place while he was staying there.
“where are we?”
“at my villa, you will be staying here in the meantime”
“what do you mean?”
“it means what it means” she said as she opened the door of the villa. “welcome” although she said that, the vibe the house gave off wasn’t friendly. It was now cold and quiet, different from the warm and homey vibe it gave when everyone else was still here. She wished for them to be, but seeing as she needed to give him a place to stay, she didn’t.
Although it was true that his arms weren’t as functional as before, at least he wasn’t decapitated. It meant that he would heal somehow.
“what do you mean by I’ll stay here? I thought I was supposed to work for you? Why give me a place to live in?” he gazed at her questioningly
She yawned as it was already late at night. Taking no heed to his questions, she looked at him “if you’re hungry, there is some food in the fridge. You will sleep in the room next to mine in the meantime, and there are unused clothes in the closet room for guests. It comes in different sizes so you need not fret. We will talk tomorrow morning as it is my day off” without waiting for him to reply to her, she strode off and left behind a stunned man. He never knew that in this world, there really was someone so ‘uncaring’ to strangers in all aspects. She didn’t care if he wanted to rob her or kill her as she slept, truly it was a different perspective he saw. In a little while, his thoughts came back to reality as he walked up to where Hui Yin went and found a room beside hers. He also found the closet she talked about and other than clothes, he found toilettries as well. Ji Tao Gin laid on his bed feeling it’s softness. It had been a while since he felt comfortable, though it was only a bit, at least he still felt it. He was about to close his eyes and drift off to sleep when he suddenly thought of a question
‘who was she?’ it seemed as he wouldn’t be getting answers to his questions until tomorrow, so he let it go and went to sleep.
