The Heiress - Chapter 15
By the time she arrived at Princeton Gates, it was 11:35. She stared at the view of the place with astonishment, it was the first time she ever went to this district. It was popular for it’s large buildings and mansions which are each owned by a few highclassed entrepreneurs, including Cheng Ming-ha. The design of the gates itself excuded a majestic aura with the two lion statues in front of it. She roamed around the district in search of Block A, when she found it, she immediately got off her car and stepped inside the mansion, her professional look in place. As she rang the doorbell, she continued to observe her surroundings. Although everything looked beautiful, Hui Yin didn’t put to mind to buy a slot here, she knew that it would be dangerous to do so. She was welcomed by a smiling old chinese woman, around her 40’s. She guessed that this was the housekeeper and smiled politely.
“Follow me Ms. Lin, we have been expecting your arrival. Mr. Cheng said to wait in his office” the smiling old woman said
“Very well” ‘even this mansion has an office, what a workaholic indeed’ she thought. She was led to a room that had a grey and white interior, black leather chairs and a mahogany table. The room had a large glass window and she went near it to take a look. She saw her reflection and frowned at her attire, but she removed her frown for this situation was uncalled for.
“Mr. Cheng, Ms. Lin has arrived” said the old housekeeper
“en” he placed his files down and proceeded to his office. He flung the door open and was greeted by a beautiful woman. She wore a violet, knee-length flowy slip dress and a yellow cardigan coupled with a pair of ribbon strapped heels. Her golden hair was tied in a messy bun and a Pandora Heart bracelet accessorized her wrist. Her glasses didn’t get in the way of her beautiful blue eyes as she looked stunning.
“I’m truly sorry for my attire, Mr. Cheng. I was on my way home when you called, therefore I didn’t get ample time to change”
“en” he said while still staring at her
“what did you need me for, Mr. Cheng?”
“Business trip 5 AM tomorrow, alone. You stay as second in charge”
“en, should I book a trip for you Mr. Cheng?”
“Myanmar” she was curios on what the business trip was for but she had no right to ask.
“Right away, Mr. Cheng. Anything else?”
“no”
“then excuse me, Mr. Cheng.”
“hmm” she exited the office and was about to go out the mansion when she was called by the old housekeeper
“excuse me, Ms. Lin, have you had lunch?”
“No, but I’m fine thank you”
“ahh wait!!” the old housekeeper said as she tugged on Hui Yin’s cardigan
“I’m really fine, thank you though uhh?”
“ah, I’m Nanny Luo”
“then, Nanny Luo, good bye” she bowed and left, walking briskly since she didn’t want to stay in any longer. It was truly impolite to reject the old woman, but she had no choice but to do so.
“aiisshhh kids these days, they rarely eat any food” Nanny Luo sighed as she walked back in. Indeed, the people around her were too busy to even get a decent meal, only the staff huddled together in a corner and ate.
….
Xia Lan arrived in America holding her trolley while walking. This was her first time coming here since she wasn’t able to join Hui Yin the last time for it was a business trip. Looking around, she failed to see that a man was walking opposite her and bumped into him.
“ooff!! Hey! that hurt, watch where you’re going next time would ya?” she whimpered as her nose reddened and her eyes teared up. Seeing her, the man just stared before he grinned “watch where you’re going as well, child”
“I’m not a–” she looked up and saw the man she was talking to. He looked scary to her, his eye had a scar and he was really muscular. A sense of pity coursed through her as she touched his scar
“that must’ve hurt” she said as he flinched at her touch
“tough man I am, now get moving kid, I hope I don’t see yer around” he toussled her hair as it became messy and he continued to walk away
“hey! ughh seriously?? I used up an hour to fix this” she sighed as she looked at his wide back for a moment before she, as well, walked away. She failed to realized that a certain man who accompanied the person she bumped into was quivering head to toe
“se-senior.. are you okay?”
“what are you talking about little 4th?” he said while smiling
“no..nothing”
Xia Lan hailed a cab and gave the address to the apartment Hui Yin was currently residing in. She wanted to surprise her but when she arrived, she noticed that Hui Yin wasn’t home and so she had no choice but to wait for her in the comfy swing of her porch.
The girl being waited upon , on the other hand, was seriously working in her office although it was a weekend. She arranged everything for the president for his stay in Myanmar. She finished in a while and notice her stomach grumble. Hungry, she walked to her car and drove to the nearest market and bought ingredients for her favorite hotpot. She arrived home only to find a sleeping Xia Lan in her front porch. Surprised she was, indeed, but what about the peaceful girl who was awoken in the evening from her sleep? She woke up screaming, afraid that someone was molesting her, she had a wild imagination for a girl.
“Aaaaarrghhh!! Molesterrr!!! Helppp meee!!!”
“shut up LanLan”
“eh…huh? Ahh!!! a-Yin!!!! I forgot to surprise you!!!”
“hahahaha you surprised me alright, come inside, I’m sorry I came home late” Hui Yin said as she unlocked the door.
“no, no it’s okay” Xia Lan smiled, she was a sweet girl who gave way to people easily
“I’m about to cook up some hotpot, do you want to eat with me?”
“you know, for a rich girl, you sure love eating that. Sure thing then, I want some too” she grinned ear to ear. It was a type of bond for them to eat hotpot while watching movies, they used to do it a whole lot more than now. It was to the point where Nanny Zhang had to stop making it for them and gave them something else to eat.
