The Heiress - Chapter 19
“Mr. Cheng?” she asked again
“..yes?”
” I was wondering how to handle the situation regarding Mr. Julian?”
“who?” ‘is he playing with me?’
“Mr. Julian, the person you sent off, the guy who was going to cheat the money for the silver ring project?” she reminded him
“ahh him, right. as you said, he has been eerily silent with his current situation” ‘I have never said that though?….maybe this is the way the rich really talk? but I’m rich too…yet I don’t talk that way..maybe it’s different for other people… ?’ she thought
“just let him be for now. I will be back in 3 months” he said, not knowing on what the girl was thinking about him.
“yes, Mr. Cheng. Good bye then”
“en”
They cut the call and both sides continued staring. One was staring at the ceiling while the other, the view of the city in Myanmar.
Three months passed by in a blink of an eye. It was now Christmas in America. Blinking lights had surrounded the cities and snow piled up almost everywhere.
Hui Yin was now standing at the arrival area, waiting for Mr. Cheng.
“Anna!! You’re Anna..right?” hearing someone calling her ‘name’ with such familiarity, she turned towards the sound of the woman’s voice and saw her with Mr. Cheng. With the fiery red hair and violet eyes, she guess that the woman was the famous Lai Lily. She bowed her head and greeted them.
“yes, that’s right.Welcome back Mr. Cheng, Miss Lai”
“ah greetings to you too. Ming-ha gege must have told you about me right?” her arms snaked on Cheng Ming-ha’s as her eyes held on to Hui Yin’s
“yes, Miss Lai” her gaze didn’t falter nor did her expression change, she didn’t feel that it was right for her as she was just a secretary but it didn’t stop the light sting she felt.
“hmm how sweet of you Ming-ha gege” she cheekily grinned, still staring at Hui Yin. Once they got into the black Toyota Century Royal, everybody sat in place. Hui Yin stayed seated at the driver’s seat while both Mr. Cheng and Lai Lily sat at the back.
“Where would you like to go, Mr. Cheng?”
“Where do you want to go?” he asked Miss Lai
“erhm, I don’t know…where do YOU want to go?” she asked back
Hui Yin was getting tired of thier public display of affection but nevertheless she was just a secretary, she had to endure.
“To Old Amsterdam Resto & Bar”
“yes, Mr. Cheng”
They arrived in the said location after an hour drive, during that one hour they were driving, Hui Yin was bombarded with questions, all were which she answered politely and to the best she could.
The restaurant had an old fashioned look, the exterior looked like an old and tattered shack. There were wine barrels by the posts and an antique bench on wooded plyboards.
“wow” Lai Lilly gazed in awe once they arrived inside. The interior design of the place completely changed. Instead of old wooden floorboards, it was replaced with obsidian flooring which created a galaxinian look, there were high chairs and leather couches and a long table. Some lights were dim and some were well lit, as they looked at the menu, the prices for each dish were skyrocketting as it was made clear that only the rich would fancy this resto.
They spent the time eating and chatting peacefully while Hui Yin just sat silently, and was attentive to Mr. Cheng’s likes and dislikes as she adjusted the dish to his liking. By the time they were done, the stars dawned the night sky.
Hui Yin brought Mr. Cheng and Lai Lily to his condo. Since miss Lai fell asleep, Cheng Ming-ha carried her. Hui Yin bid farewell and drove off, her look, well, it was haggard.
He didn’t even talk to me in the end about anything, good job..boss
ding~
CMH: Good job today
AL: thank you, Mr. Cheng. Have a good evening
While she was driving home, Cheng Ming-ha on the other end threw Lai Lily on the bed.
“you can stop pretending now” he said
“awwww how mean, to throw a young, delicate and pretty girl like me roughly on the bed…or are you about to do something to me?” she teased
“you know very well you’re real identity”
“hehe she was a fine lass don’cha think?” the girl’s personality changed. She sat and talked like a street gangster took out a ciggar she placed in her pouch, lighting it and parted her lips as she puffed smoke. Her once polite and good personality was, in the end, a facade.
“what were you trying to do?” he glared coldly at her
“Now now mate, don’ ya gimme dat kind of killin eye, I’m shiverin ere can’tcha see. I was just tryin’na check if she liked you..” then she stopped and pondered for a minute before she laughed hard “hahahaha turns out she didn’ ”
the atmosphere became frighteningly heavy and although the heaters we working, the room chilled
“fine I’m sorry alright? I won’t do it again”
“make sure you don’t forget what you’re here for Ms. Lai, it was hard bargaining with you’re father for him to lend you to me”
“yes, Mr. Cheng~” with that she left and slept in her room

“Mr. Hui, are you sure about the surgery? Do you have a relative you can confide in, in your current situation? It is a complicated surgery after all.” his private doctor asked
“yes, I am Dr. Choi”
“think about it Mr. Hui, what about Hui Yin? what would she say once she finds out that you didn’t tell her?” Dr. Choi was his family’s private doctor, he knew about the existence of Hui Yin as he tended to her health while she grew up. Now that his patient was in this state where no one would know what the result would be…he couldn’t help but ask him again.
“she surely knows by now that I have kept something from her and is probably just waiting for me to tell her. If I die, wouldn’t you need to tell her everything by then?” Hui Han asked in the teasingly same manner he always had “hahaha don’t worry Dr. Choi, just make sure I make it alive”
“very well” sighing, Dr. Choi reluctantly agreed “I’ll have it scheduled four months from now then”
