The Heiress - Chapter 22
“Mommy!!!” the boy cried as he ran towards her at full speed.
Hearing this, Hui Yin opened her eyes in shock and stared at the young man hugging her tightly
‘!!!!!’ she needed to process what just happened and it took her a while to clear her throat and clear this misunderstanding
She stared at his trembling lips, chubby cheeks, and light blue eyes….
‘cu-cute!!!!’ she was about to hug the little boy tightly but she regained composure
“excuse me, little boy, who are you?” she asked, thinking the boy would reply but once he heard that coming from his ‘mommy’, he cried more.
“mo..mommy has *hiccups* fo-forgotten m-me because sh-she hit her head”
“hush now, don’t cry” she cooed, scooping the little boy in her arms. She gently pat his back amd rocked back and for disregarding the wounds on her body. She felt a gaze on her and looked up, meeting a pair of almond eyes staring at her.
“you must be Mr. Ling?” she asked
“yes, I am truly for my son’s rudeness. Ling Xinze, get down from there right now!” he commanded harshly to the poor little boy
“no! Mommy’s hurt because of me!! uwaahhhh!!” he cried once again
“She is not your mother, young man, now let go”
“Mommy!!! Uwahhhhhhhh!!!!” Hui Yin was starting to get a headache from all the noise but seeing the little boy calling for his mom, she felt helpless and couldn’t resist but hug him. She herself lost her mother..not being able to meet her…
“let him be for now, Mr. Ling, it’s fine”
“I am truly sorry Ms. Anna, xiao Xinze lost his mother at the age of 3 years ago. He was just 4 then, and you look so much like her” he said as he looked at her increduously. Truly, he was surprised when he saw his son in the arms of someone else who looked so much like his dear, beloved wife. It made him stop to look at her again.
Two days ago, while he was in a meeting discussing the expansion of their airline company, he received a call from the hospital about his son’s incident. When he reached there, he saw that there was only a slight wound on his knee which bewildered him greatly. His son’s bodyguards explained the situation and he was greatly relieved and thankful that the woman who saved his little boy did not die.
He wanted to compensate her and thank her, but before that, he needed to know her background to see if this wasn’t a ploy with her in it. To his great surprise though, the woman looked almost exactly like his late wife, if it wasn’t for the difference of their nose and facial shape, he would’ve thought that she was alive. This made him curious about her but his research came up null as he couldn’t find out about her family background. Nevertheless, he confirmed that she was in fact, not part of this incident and he wanted to compensate her for risking her life.
“Ms. Lin, may I talk to you privately?”
“alright” he signalled his bodyguard and secretary to get out of the room and they did
“I know it is not my place to ask of this…but..who are you really?”
“you’re right Mr. Ling, it isn’t your place to ask.” she chuckled “and I don’t plan on telling you. Not yet”
“Very well” he nodded “then..about the compensatio–”
“I don’t plan on asking for compensation from you Mr. Ling, I did it on my own free will”
Bu–”
“if you are so adamant on giving me one, then just put to mind that you owe me, and when the time comes, you help me”
“alright” after thinking about it, he finally agreed. “I guess we should get going, thank you again Ms. Lin” He stood up and leaned forward to get his son but he clutched Hui Yin’s hospital gown tightly.
“mommy…” he cried
“….” Hui Yin didn’t know what to do anymore, surely, she didn’t want to hear the little boy crying anymore.
“How about letting him stay here for a few hours, Mr. Ling? Just get him at around 8?”
“….very well” he complied “xiao Xinze, behave”
“….good bye daddy” the little boy said. Upon hearing this, Ling Chaun didn’t know how to react. His own son abandoned him for someone who saved him two days ago…
When he finally left, Hui Yin looked at the pair of round watery eyes and smiled
I finally meet you..
She took out her phone and took a picture of the boy and saved it in her drive.
“hello, little Xinze”
“mommy..”
“no” she smiled “I’m not your mother, but just call me aunt”
“….okay….aunt” he said reluctantly. He knew that she really wasn’t his mommy but he still felt comfortable around her
“Now, go to sleep for a while. You must be tired from all your cries earlier”
Hui Yin logged into her company account and scrolled through notifications. She saw 5 missed calls from Xia Lan and a message from her saying that she landed already and 20 missed calls from Mr. Cheng in total from the day she got into an accident and yesterday
Did he want something? I know that I set a timer for the documents to be sent ahead of time so there shouldn’t be problems…

-Same Hour-
“Ming-ha~~” a seductive voice sounded on the other room beside his office. A few minutes later, the person she called for still didn’t come to her
“Cheng Ming-ha!!!! she called again “come over will ya?”
….still nothing…
Lai Lilly stood up and walked towards his office. When she opened his door, her feet stopped.
“Holy mother of–” the room was dark and gloomy. She saw Cheng Ming-ha staring blankly on the phone that was thrown on the floor, seemingly awaiting for something
“Hey…are you okay?” she asked, her voice laced with concern. It was true that she would usually be called a tomboy because of the way she really acted but she knew when to stop acting like one…
She took a few steps towards him when the phone that was thrown on the floor suddenly rang
SWOOSH
like a gush of wind, Cheng Ming-ha suddenly stood up and paced towards his phone but…
BAM
“HAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHA YOU….HAHAHAHAHA ARE YOU REALLY THE CHENG MING-HA?!?” Lai Lilly laughed hard. Who would’ve thought that the feared president of Cheng Corps. would trip and fall terribly on the phone just because of a call??
“Get out” he said as he picked up the phone and stood up, acting like nothing happened
“fine-fine~~HAHAHAHAHAHA” She went out his room and closed the door but remembered that she still needed to tell him something important
‘meh, I guess Imma gonna tell im later’
Lai Lilly skipped happily towards her room, excited to spread the gossip between the Cheng and the Lai families.
