The Heiress - Chapter 29 So Thats Why Hes Sending Me Away?
“Who should we send there?”
“Ms. Lin”
“…..” they couldn’t mouth out a single opinion
“yes Mr. Cheng?” even she was confused.
“you will be the representative sent to Myanmar”
“….” She clearly was shocked to hear such a thing. Hui Yin knew that it had only been a year when she started working, she couldn’t figure out the reason why she was being sent away
“your answer?” Cheng Ming-ha’s cold voice sounded
“…yes Mr. Cheng” she couldn’t say no, could she? Now, she was merely a secretary who was still under the company. How could she voice out her opinion regarding this?
“Meeting adjourned”
….
‘was he sending me away because….he hates the way I do my job?’
‘maybe because of what happened?’
questions formulated in Hui Yin’s mind. She was currently alone in her office and had nothing to do.
She was indeed being sent away for a year and she felt slightly dejected.
It took her 5 whole years to be able to finally work for the person she looked up to only to be sent away after working for him…for a year. It was an advantage to her in a way, since it would gave her time away from her boss but she couldn’t help but feel somewhat…at loss from being away from him.
beep beep
Her phone rang and she saw that Mr. Cheng had called for her in his office
Immediately, she walked there and knocked quietly before entering.
“Your flight will be the by the end of the week.”
“yes, Mr. Cheng”
“You will be the temporary Vice CEO there. During this time, I would need someone to replace you”
“yes, Mr. Cheng”
“I have someone in mind…”
“yes, Mr. Cheng”
“before the end of the week, you will have to teach Ms. Lai Lily what to do here”
“yes, Mr. Cheng”
“She’ll be arriving soon….you may go after you brief her with what needs to be done. No need to come to my office”
“yes, Mr. Cheng. Well then excuse me, Mr. Cheng”
Hui Yin felt her heart become so heavy when she exited the office
‘…so that’s why I was being sent away..’
The man in the room chuckled when she went out. His thoughts..well, none could guess. Even if Hui Yin, who was so perceptive, were here, she herself would be confused on the current look he had
…
“we meet again, Ms. Lin”
“greetings Ms. Lai. Should I give you a tour around?”
“it would be a pleasure”
Hui Yin gave her the tour in the building. Walking around, the employees couldn’t help but ask for signatures while asking why an artist like her would work as a secretary.
“Who wouldn’t want to work for Mr. Cheng?” she threw in a retorical question
Hui Yin throughout all this just kept quiet, her thoughts well kept.
Hui Yin finished the tour and they arrived in her office. Her things were now in boxes, files on the desk were neatly stacked and the cabinets were arranged in ascending order.
Lai Lily observed the office that would soon be for her to use.
“Everything here has been arranged and ready for use Ms. Lai. Currently, there are no paperworks for you to input, only paperworks for the president to sign.
Here is the pager I currently have. It would vibrate whenever he is calling.
Mr. Cheng doesn’t like his coffee sweet. There should be no creamer nor sugar. He doesn’t like eating celery and ginger. His steak should always be medium rare, you could serve him ginger tea and porridge whenever he is sick. Furthermore, you should always arrive at his office in a minute as he hates tardiness.”
Hui Yin briefed her on what to do and what not to do. She didn’t give her the unnecessary details concerning Mr. Cheng’s sleeping habits because she thought that she already knew about it since they live together.
The thought of them doing so and working together made her feel a pang of irritation welling up again, deep in her chest but she quickly shoved what she felt down the drain.
“I see, thank you Ms. Lin. I have a question though..would you care to answer it?”
“what is it Ms. Lai?”
Lai Lily walked closer to her and stared Hui Yin. She leaned towards Hui Yin’s ear and whispered in an innocent voice
“do you…perhaps…like ‘Mr.’ Cheng?”
