The Heiress - Chapter 6
Once they got off the jet, they rode the limousine waiting for them
“where to mademoiselle?” their French chauffeur asked
“Collins Bell Chambre” she replied with a perfect French accent. She noticed Mr. Cheng’s gaze on her again.
“I learned it” she told him. Hui Yin noticed that he looked pale, different from how he did a few hours ago. She took her medicine pouch and took the unused bottle of water from her bag and handed him the medicine.
Once again, he gave her a stare
“it is for jetlag, Mr. Cheng. The bottle is unused.” he nodded and took it. After he drank, he returned the bottle for her to keep.
Even though he drank the medicine, he still looked pale so she put her hand on his forehead..
Mr. Cheng disliked being touched, he was about to push away her arm and to warn her, but he saw that there was no malice in her eyes just…concern..so he disregarded the thought. Seeing the scene behind him, the chauffeur broke out a cold sweat. There were a lot of times when girls would ‘accidentally’ touch him to get his attention and they ended up crying. He would harshly push them away like they were a threat to his life and ask for disinfectant as well as a change of clothes.
“You’re observant” not expecting him to say anything, she was uttered speechless
“ah? what?” when she realized she said something unnecessary again, she covered her mouth and her cheeks were flushed. She felt embarrased again. Her make up was always light to none at all that it was impossible for him not to notice it, but he didn’t say anything
but clearly he was thinking. After a few seconds, she was able to control her emotions and went back to her usual poker face. She would never allow her emotions to shadow her professionalism.
“Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Cheng” she said with a calm voice then looked away, ‘being observant was one of the training I had in the military after all. She then focused on the view of the streets they passed by, not taking a glance at him. If she did look at him though, she would notice that his eyes were smiling at her. But his what he was thinking was unfathomable.
They arrived at the hotel earlier than expected. She wanted to rest after sitting for so long but things didn’t always go as planned.
“I’m sorry mademoiselle, there is only one VIP room left. We have made a mistake in the rooms.” hearing this, she frowned.
“are there any other rooms near it?”
” No miss, they are all occupied. All we have left are the common rooms”
“then book me a-”
“no” a cold voice cut her off
“Mr. Cheng, there are no other rooms available. I can make do with it”
He was silent for a moment when he again said “no” she found out a new fact about him that his grandfather left out: he was picky
“very well, Mr. Cheng. I have an aunt here in France, I could stay with her” she lied
“communication?”
“you have my work number, Mr. Cheng”
“Go”
“yes, Mr. Cheng. I will be back later to pick you up for the meeting” she gave him the key card for his room and settled his things before hailing a taxi
“to Highland Road please” this was where her villa was located. It wasn’t a place normal rich people could live in. Each house was distant from each other and was very quiet, it had a very tight security and high maintenance too, furthermore it had an overview of the sea. These were one of the reasons why she bought it.
It was just a 20 minute drive from the hotel, and she arrived at 7:30. Althought she left it for a year, the place was still clean. There weren’t dust anywhere. The first thing she did when she was in the house was to go to the garage and check her favorite car. It was a car her dad bought for her on her 18th birthday. A personalized Lamborghini Veneo roadster. She loved speed and sleek designs in cars. Ever since her brother’s death, she first feared riding cars but eversince she studied about it, the more fascinated she was of it to the point of dismantling one with the help of a mechanic. Missing the feel of riding the car, she got on it and took it out for a drive that she completely forgot about resting. She needed new clothes to wear anyway. She drove fast and was able to reach the mall in 3 minutes. Her car was gazed upon by a lot of people, eyes filled with amazement and envy. Imagine how people felt when they saw a peerless beauty getting out of the car. She never liked bragging but she could never resist cars. She also wore clothes that were plain and never liked dressing up and putting on make up, only when she needed to did she do it.
Not wanting to be found by people who knew her boss or even the boss himself, she just hid in a VIP room in the mall and told one of the staff to get her the most plain clothes she could find as well as work clothes. After paying for everything, she took the bags and went out the room. She didn’t notice that someone saw her
“Wen Qianji, who are you staring at?”
said a girl.
“It’s nothing Weiwei. I just thought I saw someone familiar.”
“ehhhhh you have to tell me”
“hmmm I thought she was Anna Lin. The girl I told you about years ago” she sneered at the name.
“uhhh Anna who?”
“Nevermind”
Anna Lin was a name she could never forget. The girl never cared about dressing up and was dirt poor but was annoyingly good looking and had high achievements in the hospital. Out of jealousy, she used to bully her but never got anything from it except a till she resigned as a doctor. She smirked at the thought.
