The Heiress - Chapter 8
Huh??? S..st..stay?!?!?
“It’s too late for you to go home, you should stay here”
” I’m a grown woman Mr. Cheng, I can take care of myself”
he turned his head and looked at her
“…no”
“t..then, I will book a room Mr. Cheng”
“No, stay here with me”
Her eyebrows furrowed as she glared at the floor and she stayed silent, not allowing him to know her thoughts, but the darkness in her eyes spoke volumes.
No, don’t come back… it’s not going to happen again.
Sensing her mood change, he rephrased his sentence.
“There is another room behind the closet. You can use it.”
Snapping out of her trance, she nodded then proceeded to go in
“Thank you” she sniffled. Fear clearly flashed in her eyes and it didn’t escape Cheng Ming-ha’s vision. Although it wasn’t his business, he couldn’t help himself and just asked.
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s nothing Mr. Cheng, have a good rest” she was about to close the door when a hand stopped it.
“I am your boss. The health of my employees are important to me”
“are you still not feeling well, Mr. Cheng?” she asked politely. She was bewildered by the thought that he seemed to speak a lot tonight.
“I am” he grunted.
“I’m fine as well Mr. Cheng. I am just tired, so I would like to rest now if you don’t mind” seeing that she had no plans on telling him, he retreated
“good job today”….!!!! he compliments people?
“Thank you Mr. Cheng, see you tomorrow”
When she closed the door in the suite, she sighed in relief. She didn’t want to tell him her past, it wouldn’t be right to talk about her past with her boss. Hui Yin tried to sleep but she couldn’t, afraid that dreams might haunt her again. In the other side of the door, a man laid on his bed, staring blankly on the ceiling, he couldn’t sleep as well
He wasn’t sure himself why he was suddenly talking to her a lot. It was still her first day, and she probably thought that he was a stanger..well he really was but he felt comfortable around her. When he saw her tear up, he didn’t know why but it didn’t irritate him like it did when other girls did it, probably because it was genuine. She did not even try to flirt with him… was he not good looking in her eyes? Will she tell me what was wrong someday? The porridge she made was delicious…. He thought
While it was a long night for them, it was a different situation back in Taiwan. Hui Han was sleeping comfortably in a hospital bed while a cold looking secretary, paced back and forth holding her phone waiting for the results. Earlier that day, the president had a heart attack. He told her not to call Hui Yin so as to not disturb her from work. Being his friend and close aide, she of course wanted to call Hui Yin but her professionalism as a secretary hindered her from doing so. The door suddenly opened and by it was Xia Lan and Bai Feng, Hui Yin’s two bestfriends.
“Mom, what happened to lo Hui?” she asked her mother worriedly
“he’s currently fine. He had a heart attack”
“shouldn’t we tell Hui-”
“no” Bai Feng’s words were muttered rather loudly that both mother and daughter looked at her, suprised
Bai Feng went forward and took out a vase and place the freshly picked tulips in it. Though confused to what he said, they proceeded to watch him, their gazes were as if to urge him to explain further.
“Xiao Yin would only be worried for him but wouldn’t be able to do anything. If she broke the agreement of her contract, even he couldn’t save her. I bet the chairman knows of this.” he started
” what contract a-Feng?”
“Cheng Corp’s contracts aren’t like the common ones you see in other companies. Being the world’s greatest marketing company, they wouldn’t want a single slip up so they could keep the place. Like Chairman’s company, they also let their employees sign a confidentiality agreement but there is another one that is only insider information”
Xia Mei: “the two-year residential stay contract?”
“yes”
looking at Xia Lan, he continued “this contract would allow communication outside but the employee would not be allowed to go back to her main family for two years”
“but what will happen to the lo Hui now?” Xia Lan asked but the question was left on air as all three looked at Hui Han, they too, didn’t know what to do.
“… I guess we’ll just have to wait until he tells us” Xia Mei finally said
knock knock
“the results are here”
