THE HERB KING - Chapter 346 Casualties
Chapter 346 Casualties
The armies of Gozgel and Xymera clashed on the fifth day since the allied army marched. The soldiers from both armies tore each other apart. They showed no mercy to their enemies as they waved their weapons around.
The nearby magical beasts were scared by the battle and they immediately fled into the distance.
Gozgel stared ahead as he tightly grabbed the giant sword that looked like a huge lump of metal. “After so many years, you are still alive, Xymera!” He muttered in the human language. There was a hint of surprise in his voice as he looked at the peerless beauty whose body was covered in divine light.
He had participated in the ancient war back then so he knew a lot about Xymera. She was one of the leaders of the Regalis Continent, a Transcendent expert who left a deep impression on him.
Xymera narrowed her eyes while staring at Gozgel. This guy was one of the most formidable warriors of the Underworlders. His strength was only beneath that of the Underworlder’s Ancient Lord. “So you are still alive, Gozgel! You are truly like a cockroach!” She snorted.
“We failed to kill you back then, but now, I won’t let you escape again!” Gozgel lifted his sword as he lunged forward.
Xymera was already prepared for this so she wasn’t flustered. She summoned her transcendent powers and clashed with Gozgel in midair.
BOOOOM!!
BOOOOM!!
BOOOOM!!
No one could see their figures above the sky as they fought continuously. Everyone could only see the violent shockwaves in the firmament.
Among all the people present, only Aethelwolf could somehow catch a glimpse of their battle. They moved so fast that even with his perception skills, he could only barely see their movements.
Suddenly, a Level 5 Underworlder charged behind Aethelwolf.
As if he had eyes on his back, he pulled out a Divine-Rated sword from out of nowhere and sliced off the head of the attacking enemy.
Slash!
A big bull-head rolled on the sand while its large body collapsed with a loud thud.
More warriors charged at Aethelwolf. Their faces were filled with rage when they saw their comrade’s headless corpse beneath his feet.
“Kill him! Chop him into pieces and feed on his flesh!”
“Die!”
Aethelwolf didn’t even glance at the idiots who were throwing themselves at him. He conjured a thousand swords in midair and let them fall towards the Underworlders.
Suu! Suu! Suu! Suu!
“Ahh!!”
“Help!”
Hundreds of Underworlders were impaled by the swords and they all fell into the sand. There were a few dozen who managed to remain alive, but they could barely move their bodies.
Aethelwolf took one last look at the sky before searching for a Level 5 Underworlder.
***
The battle lasted for three days and three nights before the main army of both sides retreated. The Underworlders suffered huge casualties since the allied army had experts like Aethelwolf and Argus who were like killing machines on the battlefield. Just the two of them combined killed more than ten Level 5 Espers! As for the number of ordinary warriors who died in their hands, it was uncountable!
The Underworlders lost over two million soldiers in the last three days, while the allied army also suffered more than a million casualties.
Aethelwolf was in the command center with the other Level 5 Espers. Xymera was also there. She was sitting in the highest seat in front of everyone.
“How many Level 5 Espers died on our side?” Xymera asked in a calm voice. Two female Doctors were tending to her wounds. Although she didn’t suffer any major injuries, she still had numerous wounds on her body.
“Reporting to the ancestor, eighteen of our Level 5 Espers died in battle. Among them, six are Barbarian experts. As for our soldiers…” Eliazar provided the report.
Everyone’s faces turned grim when they heard the report.
“Where is General Gilbert Holt?” Aethelwolf frowned as he searched for the old general from the Zion Empire. His face fell when he failed to see the old man inside the command center.
Eliazar’s eyes flashed when he heard this. While looking at Aethelwolf, he sighed heavily and shook his head. “General Gilbert… He is dead…” He muttered with a heavy heart.
Hearing this, Aethelwolf leaned on his chair and shook his head. The others also turned silent.
“You guys should rest for now. We will return to the battlefield after we have rested.” Xymera muttered. Their comrades were still fighting on the battlefield. They didn’t have the time to take a long rest.
“Yes, Ancestor!” Everyone answered in unison.
“You may leave.” Xymera waved her hand and dismissed them. She had also exerted a lot of energy when she fought with Gozgel so she needed some time to recuperate.
The Level 5 Espers left the command center one by one.?Aethelwolf also stood up and left with the others.
Aethelwolf saw Amishta, the Barbarian Empress, waiting for him. “Are you alright, Sir Aethelwolf?” She asked with a hint of concern.
Aethelwolf forced out a smile as he nodded. “I’m sorry. Six of our Barbarian leaders had to sacrifice themselves.”
Amishta shook her head and muttered. “You don’t have to feel sorry for us, Sir Aethelwolf. If not for your help, those Underworlders would have already annihilated our tribes. We are now your people. We are willing to fight for you and protect our new home.”
Aethelwolf’s face eased up when he heard this. “Let’s go and visit our soldiers.”
Amishta nodded and followed one step behind him.
After a day of resting, Aethelwolf and the other Level 5 Espers once again went to the battlefield. However, this time, Aethelwolf no longer planned to hold back his power. He stood beside Xymera with his aura fully exposed to the world.
Peak stage Level 5 Esper!
Aethelwolf’s aura flowed out like an unsheathed sword.
“What are you doing, Aethelwolf?” Xymera glanced at him in surprise.
“Let’s kill that giant beast together!” He muttered coldly.
