If only Kanae was the only one fighting, then he could just charm a large number of the demon army to fight each other, then bang the higher level ones for a boost. But he had worked hard keeping his identity of being a succubus secret, and Duke Kroenig provided a golden opportunity to clear any doubts. No one would fathom that he was a demon after this.
Unfortunately, things had to start off at a disadvantage right from the get-go.
“Let him go, you oversized goblin! Or so help me I will smite you with every fiber of my being!” Arenade shouted.
The demons snickered amongst themselves. Two flying imps tormented the boy named Potts by poking him with their tridents.
“Hmm. I think not.” The demon ogre chortled. “He will serve as a fine ration to sate my hunger after we have subjugated this puny town.”
Some of the more anxious adventurers and soldiers were one flinch away from firing their spells, shooting arrows, and charging in.
“Who cares about a single orphan! Let’s kick these bastards out of the city already!” someone yelled, rallying up the rest of the city’s forces.
Although some were uncomfortable at the prospects of letting an innocent get hurt, the contagious cheers in the face of a terrifying enemy lifted their spirits in spite of this. Arenade, horrified and disgusted by their reactions, could do nothing to stop them.
“What is wrong with you people? How could you… guhh…”
“Arenade!” Kanae cried upon seeing her race out to the horde of demons.
The cheers stopped, and the demon ogre, who Kanae was beginning to think must be the army’s current leader, watched with interest.
“Take me as hostage instead!” Arenade offered, voice cracking with each word. “Let him go and take me. Look, there’s a lot more meat on me, see? Just… please, let the boy go…”
Kanae’s heart broke, seeing her beg like that. He had no idea she had it in her to be so compassionate and selfless to the point of sacrificing herself.
“Haha! Trading an urchin for a priest right before a battle? You cripple your own army doing so. Very well. You will be enslaved by Lady Dahlia after we’ve razed the city anyway.” The ogre handed the child to the flying imps, and Arenade was escorted by demon hounds, swapping both to the respective sides.
When the imps dropped the kid off, Kanae pushed past and drew him into his arms. The boy buried a tearful face into his chest, all the while apologizing. When Kanae glanced up, he locked eyes with Arenade, who was looking over her shoulders with a relieved smile.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to… I just wanted to show Miss Aren how much we loved her!” Potts cried.
“She’s going to be fine. I’m going to save her and beat the demons back, so hurry inside and wait with your friends, okay?” Kanae ushered him towards the city.
Over by the demon’s side, the ogre placed a meaty arm around Arenade.
“Hehe. I’m going to savor fucking you after the battle. Once I’m done, you go to the grunts for public use to be breeding fodder.” He grinned.
“Hmph. I have enough demons in my life.” Arenade turned her nose to the air. It was then that Kanae saw a glint in Arenade’s eyes as she winked at him from across the field. The ogre noticed too late that she popped open a potion to chug down, then raised both hands that brimmed with magical energy. “Empowered Plant Growth!”
Since the demon army’s backs were to the forests, they didn’t see the massive vines and roots that flooded forth, breaking their ranks and sending them into disarray. Many imps were whipped out of the air, hounds and foot soldiers were knocked to the ground, and the ogre was entangled by a thicket of vegetation.
“Attack!” Kanae shouted at the top of his lungs and led the charge.
Spells and arrows were flung from both sides. Adventurers and guards alike ran alongside him. With the demons having been taken by surprise, Orturic’s forces seized the upperhand from one little trick.
The ogre raised his giant metal club to attack Arenade. “You elven bitch!”
“I don’t think so!” Kanae cracked his whip forward to snatch the demon’s wrist, pulling it taut to keep him from hitting her. “Nice work, Arenade! I’m seeing you in a better light now.”
“Heh. Keep those praises coming.” Arenade’s chest swelled with arrogant pride.
“Okay, don’t get too full of yourself, or I’ll knock you down a peg…” He rolled his eyes.
“Your resistance is meaningless!” the ogre growled, pulling Kanae instead and flinging him into Arenade.
The difference in strength was too much. Especially being a succubus whose strength attribute was at a paltry D-grade.
“Look around you.” The ogre raised both arms to the battlefield. The demons were beginning to overwhelm Orturic’s forces after recovering. There were just too many to fight. “Your trick has been played, and it has achieved little. I will make you both my personal cocksleeve, one for night and the other for morning!”
Just where was Edina at a time like this?
A horn sounded from within the city. Everyone turned to the direction of the gates where a giant cerberus hound, Carrion, was racing out from it, and riding on top of the skeletal beast was Edina and Rosaline. Attached by a rope to each rib were glass cages, containing mana-vamp starfishes.
“Reinforcements have arrived!” Edina declared, summoning a large army of undeads to sick on the demons.
One by one, Rosaline cut loose the cages which broke upon hitting the ground. Freed from their prisons, the parasitic monsters leapt at the nearest demons to suck them dry.
“Woohoo! Go, my children!” Kanae instinctively shouted like a proud mother. One starfish jumped at him, but he caught it before the suction cups stuck and threw it back into the fight. “Not me! Get them!”
The tides had turned. Kanae used his whip and Arenade grew stronger plants to entangle the demon ogre still for Carrion to knock down. Seeing their leader defeated, the remaining demons retreated into the forest.
Orturic had come out victorious.
“Edina, I thought you left us!” Kanae threw his arms around her.
“There’s no way I’d leave you.” Edina flashed a toothy grin. “Besides, I make too much money being with you!”
The squirreling wriggled out of his grasp and began filling her pockets with the mana crystals pooped out by the starfishes.
“Some things never change.” He sighed with a smile of his own, relieved nonetheless that she stayed.
“What do we do with him?” Arenade asked, pressing the heel of her foot on the ogre’s face.
“Help— aaahh!” Someone fell to the ground, trying to pull a starfish off his crotch.
“Get these off me!” Another, a woman, was getting her breasts sucked by two.
With the demons beaten or drained dry, the starfishes started attacking adventurers now.
“W-We’ll figure that out later. First, let’s stop the starfishes!” Kanae exclaimed.
After defeating the demons, Elvira had arrived on the orders of Duke Kroenig to help the city guards clean up the mess. The demon ogre was placed in a pillory in the middle of the city to be ridiculed, then to be imprisoned in the dungeons later. Although Orturic was saved from the initial attack, Lady Dahlia, their true leader, remained a threat. Surely, she was going to be a lot stronger.
Until then, since Kanae and his party didn’t need to deal with the clean up or repairs, they had come to Dreizel’s to bathe away some stress and were joined by some younger guests.
“I swear… I’ve told you many times to stay away from the forests, and what do you do? There won’t be a next time, do you hear me? I won’t always be here to watch over you runts!” Arenade scolded the kids, especially Potts, who she had on her lap and was scrubbing his hair.
“I’m sorry, Miss Aren…” Potts hung his head, red up to his ears from being squished between the demigoddess’ enormous breasts.
Maybe out of a motherly-like worry, Arenade didn’t want them out of her sight after today. They practically had to beg Dreizel to let the orphans in with them. He was hesitant to let ‘filthy urchins’ in, but made an exception today because they had a big hand in saving the city and were willing to pay.
The kids of varying ages splashed in the water like they were at a swimming pool or lake. With all the grime and dirt washed away, no one would have thought them homeless.
A small elven girl who was playing with her friends, backed into Kanae’s legs and tripped into the water. He reached in to pull her out and was greeted by a goofy grin that was missing a tooth.
“Miss Aren, is it true you and your friends are leaving Orturic?” a human boy asked from the edge of the pool.
Kanae and Edina traded glances with her.
“Once we defeat Lady Dahlia… But don’t worry. I’ll make sure each and every one of you have all you need before I leave.” Arenade smiled, reaching out to pat the child’s head.
The children’s excitement waned.
“We’ll find time to visit,” Kanae said, drawing a surprised look from the demigoddess. “There are other demons out there that need a butt-kicking. Did you guys see how Arenade handled the monsters out there today?”
“I got to see Miss Aren summon plants to attack the demons!” Potts exclaimed, and the kids immediately brightened up, now asking for more details of the battle which he was excited to tell.
Letting Potts off, Arenade waded through the water to join Kanae and Edina’s side.
“Look at you, their little hero.” Edina teased.
“If only you could be half as passionate about doing quests as you are about helping those kids.” Kanae bumped Arenade by her waist as she sat down.
“Hmph. I’ll just pretend your patronizing is actually praise for the splendid ruse I pulled off today,” Arenade proudly boasted.
When they had bathed enough, it turned out that Arenade had been paying a room for the children at the city’s only inn. That explained why she sometimes up and left during the day, then returned to the adventurer’s hall later. While she chaperoned them back, Kanae and Edina went to check on the demon ogre.
He wasn’t there when they arrived. The pillory was unlocked and plenty of rotten fruits and vegetables littered the streets around it. They hollered to the poor worker who was sweeping up the mess.
“What happened to the demon?” Kanae asked.
“Ya just missed him. Guards hauled the bastard off to the dungeons,” he explained.
They went to Orturic’s guard barracks where the dungeons were located beneath the garrison. Since it was a small city, there was only one giant cage to put all the criminals who were normally petty thieves. Currently, it only imprisoned the ogre, who was sitting against the wall with chains on his wrists and ankles.
Elvira was inside with a group of guards when they arrived, and she recoiled upon seeing Kanae.
“Nice to see you again,” Kanae coyly greeted her.
“The feeling… isn’t mutual,” Elvira replied. “Good work today. Duke Kroenig was overjoyed to hear about the city’s victory. Unfortunately, you have come at a bad time. We are about to interrogate the demon, so I will have to ask you to leave.”
“Oh, I was hoping to do that. If you guys leave me alone with him, I bet I can squeeze whatever info you want out,” he said.
Only Elvira and Edina knew what Kanae was talking about, and the guards were confused by his offer to help.
“You don’t wanna be here when Kanae gets serious. It gets pretty bad.” Edina made a scary face that caused both the guards and demon inside the cage to gulp hard.
“Well, if you want to get into a cage match with the demon, be my guest!” a guard said.
“Shout if you need us.” The captain of the guard nodded and gathered his men upstairs.
The only ones left in the room were the demon, Kanae, Edina, and Elvira now.
“You’re not getting anything out of me. Come into the cage. I dare you.” He growled.
“We’ll see about that,” Kanae said, revealing his succubus form to the demon’s terror.
Evira opened the cage to let them inside, then casted a spell that caused the restraints to glow brightly. A shock ran through him and toppled the demon to the ground when he tried to lash out. It was as if all of his strength was being sapped away.
“Y-You’re a succubus?” the ogre stammered.
Despite most likely being higher level than Kanae, the demon regarded him with fear. It further lent to the evidence that succubi were rare in this world, and they likely existed among the higher echelons of the demon forces. Charron must not have expected Kanae to survive for as long as he did and level up to this extent.
Kanae pulled off the ogre’s pants and there laid a giant red, cock waiting to be serviced. If it was this big while limp, it must be able to grow larger when fully erect. A single lick on the shaft sent the demon reeling and raised the meat rod to its throbbing glory.
“You said you wanted to make me into a cocksleeve earlier, right? It’s time to put your money where your mouth is. While we get intimately acquainted, how about you tell me everything you know about Lady Dahlia?” Kanae asked, pressing the hot cock against his face.
