“Ugh! What is this now……”
Fortunately, there was no need for me to hit Siegfried again as he quickly came to his senses. He flopped down on the floor as he lost strength in his legs. The focused look in his purple eyes returned as Siegfried blinked. He then patted his cheek and muttered softly.
“It hurts…….”
“…Please forgive me, there was no other way. If I don’t do this, then Your Highness might be dead just as I warned you.”
Though the other way to do that was to hit him on the back of his neck, but let’s just move on from that. Siegfried looked up at me blankly, with a hand on his cheek. It looked like it was really painful, his eyes were slightly red.
“Did you save me… again this time?”
It was embarrassing for him to say that after I had hit him, but I nodded my head. He was no longer looking for the siren who had disappeared but at me. It was then that the appearance of him raising his head felt a little unfamiliar. I rubbed my eyes, then a terrifying realization rang in my head. Where on earth did that pretty boy disappear, and why did a handsome young man come into my sight?
‘….uh?’
His hair was dark with a tear mole under his eye. It was obviously Siegfried, but he had the appearance of an adult man. He stared at me, still fiddling with his cheeks, with a faintly dramatic expression on his face.
Wow, this is crazy. He is really handsome.
He was even hotter with a slight frown. I just stared blankly at him, then at some point, a large hand shook my shoulder violently.
“…up! Wake up!”
The singing voice of the sirens started to drift away and there was only the urgent calling of Siegfried. I felt a strong hand shaking my shoulder violently.
“I can’t slap you on the cheek, so hurry and…!”
“Huh?”
Wait a minute, is it Siegfried who was shaking my shoulders right now? So who was the man sitting in front of me? As I tilted my head, I realized that I was being hypnotized.
I was trying my utmost to save Siegfried, but I was hypnotized by a siren. If I mistakenly behaved, I would have gone with that handsome young man to the sea while holding hands. No wonder the adult Siegfried was reaching out his arms to me in a half-loose shirt, as if tempting me. I would’ve rushed to that illusion if it weren’t for the strength I felt on my shoulders.
I have never been charmed by a siren in all my time subjugating monsters. This happened after relaxing for just a moment. Now, I understand why I was drawn to the Siren’s singing voice. Tell me, how can I come back to my senses if I saw an illusion like that? But now I had to close my eyes.
I chewed hard on the insides of my cheek, then the adult Siegfried gradually grew hazy and disappeared into a mist. What I saw in front of me was the young Siegfried again – a young boy whose cheeks were swollen and red because I slapped him just a moment ago.
“You told me not to be charmed by them, but how did you end up in that situation instead?” Siegfried said in a relieved voice when he confirmed that my eyes returned their focus. That’s it, I have nothing to say even if I had two mouths.
“…… This was also my first time. Thanks to Your Highness, I had a great experience and I also saw something great.”
“What did you see?”
“Um, that’s……”
Something that I shouldn’t tell you.
There was a myth that a siren shows you your ideal type in its illusion, but I don’t know why I saw Siegfried. Did the Ariel in the novel like Siegfried that much? The real me now thinks of him as a cute young boy, so why did the adult Siegfried appear?
“What did you see? I’m curious.”
It looked like I was just ignoring his words to make him lose his interest. His face became serious.
“What did Your Highness see?”
“You.”
…it seems to be true, not a myth. Then that’s a bit of a problem. It was obvious how he would react if I had told him that I saw the adult version of him. I must keep it a secret.
“So what did you see?”
I could feel his ardent stare at me. While his gaze wasn’t that bad, it’s not actually the time now to chatter like this. Now that Siegfried was safe, I had to go check on how Milliard was doing.
“We don’t have time for this! We should kill more of them.”
“That doesn’t matter. If you could just tell me.”
No, that would be trouble if I told you that.
“Later. Let’s go back to our positions first.”
He stared at me with dissatisfied eyes for a moment. He stepped back when he lowered his hand on my shoulder as if he couldn’t do anything about it. Then he looked around searching for his sword.
“Ah, I picked up Your Highness’s sword and put it there.”
I pointed under the tree a little away from the rock we were standing on.
“Go back first, drink some water, rest, and then you can come back here.”
I smiled broadly and pushed his back. He looked at me as if he had something to say while biting his lips. But he swept his head forward and walked towards the tree I was talking about.
Despite the fact that we were both hypnotized by the singing voices of the siren, I don’t need rest as I have more experience in subjugation.
I found Milliard disposing of the remaining sirens nearby after sending Siegfried back. He was struggling a little bit, but he was holding on well–as expected of an Ellifritz. I approached him and praised him for his hard work.
How much time had passed already? I had no time to pay Siegfried attention, so after killing dozens of sirens, I decided to change my location slightly. I was planning to kill a siren that was sitting on top of a steep rock. I climbed up and made the siren that was singing with all its might roll down after I kicked it.
“Kiiiiiiik…!”
There was no VIP seat for a siren. I sat down on the rock and looked down.
“Wow…….”
A sound of admiration automatically came out of my mouth.
Siegfried seemed to have developed a tolerance for the siren’s song as he slaughtered almost all the sirens and Demonic Crows. Three to four monsters were split in half whenever he slashed his sword, it was to the point that the corpses of the monsters began to pile up around him. He seemed to have killed more than what I and Abbysion had.
The knights in the vicinity stared at him with stupefied expressions, as if they had forgotten their purpose here of killing the monsters. They watched him with surprise. Siegfried was strong enough to be unmatched. He was at a level that no one can compare to him.
How did you do that despite being so young?
Swordsmanship wasn’t the only thing that Siegfried is good at. He helped a wounded nobleman and quickly fired an arrow at an attacking siren. The siren was shot directly in its heart, and fell to the floor. Siegfried was relaxed enough to protect the wounded.
He was also the male lead, so of course he is different from the rest. But why does he sulk like a child whenever I teased him slightly?

Our party returned to the inn we were staying in when the sun went down. Throughout our trip back, Siegfried’s name was continuously uttered in the groups’ conversations.
[‘Did you see how His Highness saved my life?’
‘I saw it clearly, of course. He ran quickly and slashed the crow into two.’]
(T/N: Conversation inside the [] means that it was just a background convo of the other people in the scene. )
Yes, that’s right. I nodded as I listened to the voices of the nobles. Indeed, Siegfried’s movements were surprising that it could only be explained by the sounds from his sword.
As of now, Siegfried was exchanging reports regarding the current situation with Abbysion while still covered in the blue blood of monsters. Honestly, I expected him to run to me as soon as the subjugation finished today. It was only natural for me to think that considering how he acted to me until now. Surprisingly, however, he seemed to know how to properly separate public and private matters. He occasionally glared at me, but he didn’t interrupt Abbysion’s report throughout our trip back to the inn.
“Send hot water to the room where Young Lady stays first.”
One of the nobles (oh, was it Count Paresa?) asked the owner of the inn. There was a little bit of monster blood on me but not as much as the others. I was so embarrassed that I wanted to wash quickly, so I was grateful to the Count for his consideration.
“Thank you, Count Parera.” I said to him with a slight smile, then the Count smiled bitterly.
“I am Count Paresa, Miss Ariel.”
“Oh, I said Paresa. My tongue was slightly short.”
Though it was clearly an excuse, Count Paresa couldn’t hide his upset expression.
…I think it was also too much of me.
Of course, I didn’t have a good impression of him when we first met because he already planned children ahead of time.
