The Hero System - Chapter 18

“Brother” Kiwi said in a low voice.

“What’s wrong?” Jonah furrowed his brows.

“Are you going to leave after we reach home?”

“Uh Yeah. I need to go back to my home too.” Jonah didn’t know how to respond. It seems that Kiwi was quite attached to him. Kiwi pouted and was feeling down. To Jonah’s shock, tears were in his eyes!

“Hey, hey, hey” Jonah panicked. He didn’t know what to do for this sort of situation. As Jonah was thinking of a way out, he heard a shout from ahead.

“Kiwi!”

It was a female voice. Jonah was happy because it seemed someone recognized Kiwi. He was about to tell Kiwi to cheer up. However, a sword came slashing his way.

‘Fuck! Is this a way to greet someone?’ Jonah reacted instinctively and his needles blocked the sword. However, when Jonah’s spiritual energy came into contact with the attacker, he couldn’t figure out his cultivation!

This can only mean one thing. The attacker was above Jonah’s stage! An Energy Materialization Stage cultivator or stronger!

Cling!

The needles came out of nowhere and the attacker was caught off guard. Thus, Jonah was able to stall him for a second. He used Evade to grab Kiwi and roll over dodging the sword.

The needles then scattered and Jonah lost control of most of them. He rolled over and bumped into a house. With his back to the wall and Kiwi in his embrace, Jonah looked at the attacker.

Now that Jonah was able to see who attacked him. He couldn’t help but be momentarily dazed. It was a female elf! Plus, she was super beautiful. Jonah could swear that he can see some sparkling in the background!

Her blonde hair landed on her shoulders. She had deep blue eyes that seemed like they’d swallow you. Her lips were pink that made her quite seductive. She had a pale white skin that made a contrast with her blue eyes. Her long ears didn’t seem out of place, rather, they made her look more elegant! The girl had a well-developed curvy body that many men would fall for. She was definitely a drop-dead gorgeous beauty whether in this world or the other!

However, her expression was icy cold like she was looking at a dead man. Jonah couldn’t help but drench in sweat. Would he be killed today? He had no way of defending against a cultivator this strong!

The elf prepared for another attack. ‘Fuck it. I’ll die fighting the beauty with dignity!’ Jonah didn’t try to reason with her. Before he can even explain, he’d be dead.

The elf disappeared from her place. Jonah can only feel her presence through his spiritual energy. He lifted his spear and shot it toward the elf.

The elf effortlessly parried it and the spear flew away. However, several rocks started attacking her.

“Hmph!” The elf flicked her sleeves and the rocks turned to powder. She was only three meters away from Jonah and raised her sword for another slash!

Another four rocks flew toward her. She also demolished them effortlessly. However, one of the rocks had a needle behind it! She couldn’t see or sense because it was hidden very well!

She used her Spirit Skill and wind surrounded her sword. She slashed toward Jonah who was pale-faced. He knew his needle wouldn’t do shit to her. But he can only try!

The needle was sent to the side like it wasn’t even there. The sword surrounded by wind descended.

“Sis, stop!” Kiwi stood between the sword and Jonah. When the elf saw this, she quickly diverted her sword and demolished her skill.

“Kiwi! What are you doing?” The elf was shocked.

“Sis, brother Jonah saved me!”

“He saved you? Wasn’t he the one who kidnapped you?”

“What are you talking about?! No one kidnapped me! I ran!” Kiwi was out of breath as he said.

‘Holy fucking shitty fuck, what the fuck is going on?!’ Jonah was pale-faced. He was so close to death, then the whole scene turned into a family reunion.

“You” The elf seemed to have understood as she sighed. She then turned to Jonah and apologized sincerely while bowing. She thought this man kidnapped Kiwi that’s why the latter was crying.

“I’m really sorry!”

“Your Highness!” The guard who followed behind were stunned.

“Uh. Yea… no problem?” Jonah was still in a daze. He still couldn’t process what was going on.

‘Somehow, I saved an elf from a spider. Then, I was attacked by a female elf who can kill me with her pinky. Then the elf I saved and the female elf turned out to be siblings. Then, to make matters worse, they were royalty?! Fuck!’ Jonah was mumbling in his head while looking at the two.

“Mister Jonah, can you please accept my invitation to the castle?” The female elf asked.

“There’s no need” Jonah just wanted to run away!

“Please!” The elf persisted. Jonah hesitated then he helplessly nodded.

“Very well. Uncle Mo, prepare a carriage!” A middle-aged man saluted and turned around and left.

“Mister Jonah, my name is Lia Elrin! You have already met my brother, Kirwan Elrin! You probably know his name as Kiwi.” Lia smiled and said.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Jonah Regon.” Jonah said as he stood up and patted the dust of his body. Lia seemed quite embarrassed that he ended up in such a state because of her. She lifted her hands and wind circulated Jonah cleaning him.

‘Is this energy materialization?’ Jonah thought. In mere seconds, he was good as new.

[Ding! Quest-completed. Would you like to receive the reward?]

‘Later.’ Jonah couldn’t receive an item in the middle of all these people.

A minute later, a carriage arrived. However, it was carried by a flying beast. When Jonah hopped in, he was amazed by how luxurious the interior was. The seats were leathered and looked extra fancy with the decorations. There was also some fruits and bottles inside. Jonah wondered if they’d fall off if they fly.

However, his worries were unnecessary. If Jonah didn’t look from the window and see the buildings getting smaller, he wouldn’t know they were flying!

The beast seemed well trained as it didn’t cause any shaking inside the carriage.

On the way to the castle, Lia asked him how he met Kiwi. Jonah told her about the event. He said he was exploring when he saw the spider cave. And he saved Kiwi just in time. Lia seemed really grateful as she thanked him and apologized repeatedly.

Jonah wanted to ask why would Kiwi run away, but he decided to not do it in front of him. He wouldn’t want to hurt the child.

Soon, they reached the castle. They landed in a field behind the castle that was empty. Attendants came over taking Jonah’s stuff and guided them inside.
