The Hero System - Chapter 27
“Kill him!” Daniel shouted as he walked in and saw his father being healed. His face turned white and his lips were trembling when he remembered what he did to his father. Seeing his father cursed, he laughed and mocked at him. If his father awakens, he’d be dead!
The guards were at a loss. They didn’t know what to do. It was obvious that Jonah helped their king, so why do they need to kill him? They couldn’t imagine that Daniel just wanted to take this human down with him.
In a moment of insanity, Daniel bolted toward Jonah. The fringes were visible in his eyes. He threw everything just to have his revenge.
“You dare?!” Before can Daniel reach Jonah, a roar filled the entire city. The ground shook due to the roar. Daniel nearly pissed himself.
The prince was sent to the ground crashing by the overwhelming pressure. Even though the pressure wasn’t directed toward him, Jonah couldn’t help but hold his breath.
The king appeared next to Daniel and he gazed at him coldly. He woke up several seconds ago and saw what was happening. Since he already knew that his son was the one who plotted against him, he naturally figured who helped him. When he saw his son attacking Jonah, he knew that his son’s plan had failed.
Now, he needs to decide what to do to his son. With no hesitation, the king’s aura intensified as a saber appeared in his hand. Only the dumb couldn’t realize what he was about to do. However, not all of them knew why. Of course, Jonah and Lia weren’t included.
“Father! Please spare his life!” Lia rushed over as she said.
“Lia, if we leave this trash live, there will be more harm than good!” The king said with an icy cold voice.
“But” Lia hesitated. She was in a difficult position. She knew that her brother has done something that cannot be forgiven. But he was still her brother that she used to play with when she was younger. She didn’t know why he changed!
“However, you’re right. I shouldn’t kill him now. I want the whole kingdom, which he wanted to rule, to witness his death.” The king’s gaze went several times colder as he withdrew his pressure.
“Take him away!” The king ordered the guards. The guards snapped out of their shock as they hurried toward Daniel.
But who could have known that Daniel was stupider than everyone thought, and tried to escape the chamber!
The king huffed with disdain as he took his saber and launched it toward Daniel’s legs. Jonah couldn’t follow the saber as it disappeared from the king’s hand.
“No! Almighty one!” Just before the king launched his saber, Daniel held a black pearl and crushed it. Like before, space deformed and a black whirlpool appeared.
“He’s escaping!” Jonah shouted.
Before he can stop him, the king was already at it. Even though he didn’t know who was helping his traitor son, he knew they were capable. However, if he left his son live, that would only be courting disasters for his kingdom.
The saber already reached Daniel but a black hand appeared and stopped it. However, the hand was also pierced through but the saber stopped.
“Hmph!” The king took out another saber and slashed toward the other hand that was grabbing Daniel. However, Daniel was already sucked in and the slash only cut off his arm!
“Ahhhh!!! You’ll regret this! All of you! Especially you, fucking human!” Daniel’s roars could be heard and the whirlpool disappeared.
“Dammit!” The king was enraged. He didn’t think his enemy to be that capable.
The whole scene went silent. Jonah could already see the troubles Daniel would cause him. If he had known, he’d have attacked him before the king was already awake.
Alas, there is no medicine for regret. The king also realized this and calmed down. He then turned his gaze toward Jonah and it instantly turned to one that is filled with gratitude. If not for this human, his youngest son, his life, and his kingdom would have perished.
“Little brother Jonah, sincerely, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.” The king said as he bowed his head. He also referred to Jonah as ‘brother’ as a sign of respect. The rest of the people around were shocked.
“Your majesty, I’m a friend of the elves, am I not?” Jonah smiled. Even though he suffered when he decided to help them, all’s well that ends well.
He got an Ultra-Rare skill that was so powerful. His Fear Resistance skill leveled up to Level 9, which was a threshold. And he also matured.
The three trials were indeed difficult, especially the last one. However, they only firmed his heart. He no longer hesitates to make decisions and wouldn’t rush any. And he realized that he can at least, be a hero, to a certain extent.
‘Somehow, I feel that it’s my duty to help others now However, this is also what I want.’ Jonah thought.
[Ding! Hidden requirements have been met. The system will now upgrade. Please wait for 48 hours till system reboots.]
Jonah was stunned. This was the first time the system upgraded itself! He couldn’t help but wonder why. However, he didn’t have time to think about.
“Hahaha, you surely are! Come, we have a feast tonight!” The king roared with laughter and patted Jonah’s shoulder.
Jonah felt his shoulder getting dislocated so he hurriedly agreed. That night, the castle has seen a lively feast even though the king was almost murdered by his son. The king didn’t think it would be inappropriate since he didn’t want the city to be disturbed by panic.
The next morning, Jonah decided to head back to Zoras city. He had been away from it for almost five days and he needed to head back. However, the king insisted that Jonah asks for something so Jonah asked for a certain item. Even though he thought to obtain it by himself, he didn’t think he’d be able to get it. The sooner he delivered the item to Leo, the better.
Nonetheless, the king was quite generous. He gave Jonah a spatial ring with many weapons, gold, and the item he requested. Jonah was touched but he refused. He didn’t help them for the reward and he didn’t want to look like that. He helped them because he considered himself as their friends. When the king saw this, he didn’t insist further. However, he promised himself that he would comply any requests this youth had in the future.
“Brother…” Kiwi said while pouting.
Jonah was glad that he wasn’t harmed. After the whole incident was over, Lia finally told him why Kiwi was so heavily treasured by the whole kingdom. It turned out that Kiwi had an affinity for four natural elements! This means he’ll have an easier path cultivating. This was also the reason why Daniel was threatened by Kiwi. In the future, Daniel would be surpassed by Kiwi in no time.
“It’s okay. I’ll visit.” Jonah patted his head.
“But… I also want to travel with you!” Kiwi had a reluctant look on his face.
“Then… we’ll travel when both of us are stronger!” Jonah said and it was true. Daniel was on the loose so both of them were targetted. If they didn’t have sufficient strength, they’d be giving him a chance.
Kiwi nodded with tears in his eyes. For the first time, he wanted to get stronger.
Jonah bid his farewells and left. He didn’t realize that his words would bring a fearsome existence to Terra later on.
On the way, Jonah couldn’t help but think about the system’s upgrade. He didn’t know what the hidden requirements were, but nonetheless, he was overjoyed. He couldn’t wait for the system to finish its upgrade.
Jonah was stronger and faster than he was when he came to the city. Thus, he was able to reach Zoras city by sunset. He took a Spirit Vehicle toward the E55 courtyard and reached it shortly after.
Jonah scanned his bracelet and the door opened. He walked in and saw one person sitting in the living room reading a book. However, Jonah didn’t recognize him at first sight. The youth was brown-haired and looked quite handsome. His features were distinct and sharp. His brown calm eyes were especially enticing.
“Jonah? Where have you been, man?!” The brown-haired youth put the book aside and stood up.
“Leo? Where are your glasses? What the hell happened?” Jonah had a ‘what the fuck’ face on.
