The Hero System - Chapter 33
“Dammit! I shouldn’t have teamed up with him!” Sira yelled as she ran faster.
Following her was a horde of Silver Fur Wolves. This monster lived usually in packs and not alone. They usually hide their tracks so well that no one can find their den. However, they were attacked by this human suddenly.
Since the human kept throwing arrows and mocking them, they were enraged beyond words. Thus, they decided to eliminate this human once and for all. Another reason was that no other person can find their den.
Sira had sweat on her forehead. She couldn’t believe she allowed herself to be used like that. However, since he wanted her to prove her ‘sincerity’, she couldn’t say no. But who would have thought that this horde had more than 30 wolves in it!
Thankfully, these monsters were only at the Fourth Level Energy Condensing Stage. If not, she’d be dead long ago.
Her eyes shone when she saw that she reached her destination, with a light jump, she dived into the bushes not far away. When the wolf pack saw this, all of them surrounded the bushes.
Beep.
Leo furrowed his brows. This was the third time that he called Jonah but still no signal. He sighed and decided to leave it be. Hopefully, he can meet him during the test. At the very least, he found another First Level cultivator to team up with.
“Done?” The black haired youth turned around and asked.
He was about 1.8 tall with a black leather jacket. He had a black hair and eyes that seemed quite lifeless. The youth’s face was as expressionless as it can be. The only thing that seemed special about him was his spear. When Leo looked at it, he felt the spear was a part of his body. It laid so naturally in his hands that he’d feel that something was missing if he let go of it.
“Yeah. No signal. We should start hunting too.” Lao shook his head and walked over.
“Un.”
This youth’s words were as few as they can be. Leo, with difficulties, learned that his name was Ben. However, he didn’t know anything else.
The two dashed through the forest and looked around. Sadly, most of the monsters nearby have already been hunted. They had to run for another five minutes before finally finding their first prey.
This would be the first monster Leo kills. Luckily, he wasn’t alone. The monster was a Savage Horned Boar that was quite difficult to fight alone. It was a Third Level Energy Condensing Stage monster.
Ben didn’t say anything and dashed toward the boar. The Boar also charged toward him. Ben raised his spear and thrust. Leo could hear a slight buzzing sound as the spear cut through the air. However, he had no time to admire Ben’s skill.
Cling!
The Boar blocked Ben’s attacks with its durable horns. Ben didn’t delay as he retreated his spear and attacked again. The boar kept blocking and Ben kept attacking. The boar was frustrated as it knew that his opponent was only at the First Level but was this strong.
Leo dashed toward the side and aimed his two guns. The two bullets were aimed at the boar’s eyes but one of the missed. With its eye injured, the boar let out a shrill cry of pain.
Using this opening, Ben pierced through the boar’s neck and blood started gushing out.
Ding!
A notification appeared one Leo’s and Ben’s bracelets. Ben got 15 points and Leo got 5. This Savage Horned Boar would be sold for 20 credit points! That means 2000 dollars!
“Next is for you.” Ben turned toward Leo. Leo understood what he meant and he nodded. Then, the two went on a killing spree.
Five hours later, Ben had 461 credit points and Leo had 424. Their credit points from before the assessment didn’t count with these. The two were tired as they been hunting for three hours so they went to rest.
However, enemies were sure to meet. As they were looking for a cave, they met the two youths that Leo and Jonah had a fight with this morning.
“Well, look who’s here. I didn’t expect you’d survive till now. After all, useless people are destined to be ‘taken out’.” The black haired youth mocked with glee. He was happy that Leo wasn’t accompanied by Jonah so that he can revenge the two separately.
“So I guess you need to prepare yourself.” Leo sneered.
“We’ll see.” The black haired youth said as he took a step closer.
Leo raised his gun and pointed it at the youth. Ben also raised his spear and prepared for battle.
“Don’t worry, I won’t dirty my hands.” The youth said before he dashed toward Leo.
Since there was a 5 levels gap between them, Leo had no way to respond in time. Before he can move his guns, the black haired youth has already thrown a flask with a green fluid in it. Leo thought it was an acid so he prepared for the burning sensation. However, there was only a stench smell when the flask broke.
“Well, good luck surviving. Hahaha!” The black haired youth laughed and sprinted.
Ben and Leo had a confused expression as they didn’t understand what just happened. However, that didn’t last long because they heard beast howls not far away. Furthermore, they were getting closer.
Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng! Peng!
Ten needles pierced through the wolves’ neck. Before they can realize what happened, they were already dead!
The rest of the wolves were stunned and looked around for the enemy. However, the needles changed their target and killed another ten! There were only fifteen wolves left and they decided to make a run for it. However, the needles chased them and cut down their tendons!
“Go ahead,” Jonah told the dumbstruck Sira as he walked out of the bushes.
“Damn Being a bait was worth it!” Sira happily leaped and took out her knife. Soon, all of the wolves were killed.
Beep!
Jonah looked at his bracelets. Just for this one pack, he received 562.2 credit points! Sira also received 337.5 credit points. Even though they were less than Jonah’s, she was more than happy! If just being a bait can bring her this much, she has found her lifetime job!
“Okay, let’s go,” Jonah said. They had wasted 40 minutes already and he needs to pick up the pace to get first place.
The system was right. Using his telekinesis, he had a chance of scoring first. Sadly, he had a weight limit for his skill. Thus, he can only wound the wolves’ neck, and not pierce through them. But that was more than enough.
Guilt filled Jonah’s heart as he looked at the gory scene in front of him. However, he shook his head to dispel such thoughts. ‘To hunt or be hunted.’
The two then started on a killing spree rushing to score on the top. However, they didn’t know that they caused an uproar in the command center.
“This kid sure is something!” The young woman’s mouth twitched as she looked at the scores screen. Even though this youth showed some potential, she didn’t expect him to be this capable!
After another two hours, Jonah decided to rest. His points were now 2956 and Sira’s were 2123. He didn’t know if this was enough to score first, but he needed to rest. After all, he was out of Spirit Points. After it got leveled up, Telekinesis now needs 2 points per minute to use. However, his points now regenerate by one every 10 minutes.
The two lied down in a cave and Jonah used his Spiritual Sense. When Sira came in contact with his spiritual energy, she was speechless beyond words! After all, she didn’t expect such a powerful guy to be only at the Third Level! A level less than her! For some reason, she felt defeated.
The two of them started to cultivate. After all, it would replenish their spiritual energy faster. After two hours, they stopped as their spirit capacity was filled. Even though his spirit points needed six hours to replenish, that was only if he didn’t cultivate.
Per usual, Jonah checked his map before heading out of the cave. However, his face paled when he saw a green dot and a yellow dot running from a hundred red dots!
This chapter is for 7/14.
Sorry for not updating for two days. The chapters are written but no internet connection. Riot is spreading in my city and the government has shut down internet access to stop panic and riot planning (foolish).
