The Hero System - Chapter 43
“Jonah, we’re here!”
Jonah heard someone shouting his name and saw the group in the distance. Gorilla was waving at him wearing a heavy armor with a hammer on his back. The rest wore light-armor with only Leo being an exception.
“Morning,” Jonah walked over toward the group and nodded.
“Morning! Since all of us are here, we need to get going!”
Unexpectedly, Gorilla raised his hand and a Spirit Vehicle appeared! However, Jonah did not recognize its model since it was quite different from the ones TSO used. It looked more like a tank. Obviously, this was designed for rough terrains.
After hoping in, Jonah was further awestruck by the vehicle. Rather than a vehicle, the interior was as big as a villa!
“Haha, you wonder how this works?” Gorilla laughed sensing Jonah and Leo’s confusion.
“This vehicle utilizes the same concept of spatial items, space expansion. The space inside an item was expanded to be able to contain bigger things.” Norlan also got in and started to explain.
“That’s possible?” Jonah and Leo were dumbstruck. At first, they thought that spatial items were a mini-portal or something that moved the object to a different place. However, it seemed a completely different concept was used for this sort of technology. If this technology was spread in the modern world, property prices would decline!
However, that is just if. After all, this sort of space manipulation was obviously very difficult to achieve. Regardless of the resources needed, just the skill to expand space is something not a common cultivator can achieve!
“This beauty here is my passion! I call it Lolo!” Gorilla laughed heartedly.
After they settled, Jonah checked on Leo. “You’re alright? How is your arm?”
“I’m okay. There is a small scar but it’s already healed!” Leo smiled.
‘Lolo’ made the ride so comfortable that Jonah didn’t want to leave it. The vehicle had couches and a fridge. It also had a library and two gigantic bedrooms. If the group ever had to camp in the wild, they can just use this vehicle. Sadly, Lolo only took an hour before they arrived at their destination. However, the group had a meeting before they started their hunt.
“Okay, settle down. Here’s the missions information.” Gorilla said as he pointed his hand toward the screen. The bracelet made a brief ‘beep’ before the screen switched on. On the screen was a monster’s profile.
“Name: Blue-Eyes Bees.”
“Cultivation: Fourth Level Energy Condensing Stage.”
“Habits: Living in colonies. Moving in groups of ten or more.”
“Skills: Illusion Humming, Poison Synthesizing, and Telepathy.”
“Favorite Prey: The Seedless Plants.”
“Location: Gog Swamp and Little Flower Forest.”
“Mission: 100 Bees Corpses.”
“Due: March 10, 2018.”
Jonah didn’t need anyone to tell him. Gorilla obviously accepted a mission from TSO for their hunt today. Jonah had already read about the missions provided by TSO on the Life Network Forum. Although selling the bodies to a different shop can get you more credit points, it won’t raise your rank in TSO. Ranks allowed you to purchase things from TSO at lower prices. Thus, it would be more beneficial to accept a mission from TSO. After all, sacrificing a little bit of credit was nothing compared to having a wider access on items.
“The Blue-Eyes Bees are commonly seen in the northern area of the Gog Swamp. We can’t use Lolo to get there to not attract this zone’s boss. Thus, we need to walk from here for half an hour toward the south to reach the northern area of the swamp.” Gorilla started explaining and showed the group a map.
They were now to the north of the swamp to minimize the distance they need to cross. They were about 30 km away from the location of the Blue-Eyes Bees. The swamp was 200 km in length and 30 in width.
“Brother Gorilla, why did they call it the Gog Swamp?”
“That’s because it’s filled with green fog. This fog is poisonous to people at the First Energy Condensing Stage and lower.”
“Then” Jonah frowned and looked at Leo. The latter simply smiled and nodded.
“Leo, you?” Jonah’s eyes widened.
“Yeah, I broke through this morning.” Leo grinned happily. He couldn’t have imagined that the assessment would accelerate his breakthrough. It seemed he broke through his limits when he was fighting the monster horde chasing them.
“Even if he didn’t break through, we have some masks that would filter the poison,” Sana added.
The group then discussed their strategy. Jonah, being a spear user, would work with Gorilla on close range attacks. From the side, Norlan and Leo would help them out with the long-range attacks. Yan would sneak attack the monsters if given the opportunity, being an agile daggers user. Sana would provide support with the basic boosting and healing skills.
Gorilla parked Lolo behind a mountain and hid it well. He seemed extra-cautious of it although no monster below Energy Materialization Stage would damage it.
The group slowed down their speed so that Leo and Jonah would keep up. Jonah finally realized the group’s cultivation when he felt their spiritual energy. He couldn’t have imagined that the person with the highest cultivation would be Sana! She was actually an Eighth Level Energy Condensing Stage! Coming after her was Gorilla and Yan, being a Seventh Level Energy Condensing Stage. Aside from Leo and Jonah, Norlan had the lowest cultivation being at the Sixth Level of the energy condensing stage!
However, that would probably not determine their strength. For instance, Sana would focus on techniques that would increase her spiritual energy capacity, because she needed it to use support skills. On the other hand, Norlan didn’t need much spiritual energy so his cultivation technique would focus on intelligence and agility since he was a bow-user.
Yan and Gorilla would probably focus on spirit and another attribute since close combat skills required both spiritual energy and physical stats.
If the group didn’t have Jonah and Leo, they would probably reach their destination in less than ten minutes. However, Jonah and Leo were only at the Third and Second Levels. Jonah was also slowing down since he didn’t want Leo to be left behind.
Leo didn’t let this matter depress him. After all, everyone needs to start at some point. Furthermore, he was actually faster than most Second Level cultivators were since his cultivation technique focused on agility.
After half an hour, the group finally reached their destination. It was a part of the swamp with tall trees and fog blocking their view.
However, they didn’t encounter the first group of Blue-Eyes Bees for another ten minutes!
Jonah noticed that everyone’s aura changed when they prepared to battle. Jonah also had his needles hover around him and held his spear in his hand. Even though most of the group heard about Jonah’s skill, they were still astonished. After all, that wasn’t a skill that anyone can use effortlessly.
Leo was also confused at the beginning about how Jonah learned this skill. However, after a bit of research, he found out a reasonable explanation. It seemed that his friend had innate skills! These people were highly talented that they would receive skills from their bloodline the moment they awaken!
The rest of the group also thought this way and that’s why they wanted to rope Jonah into their sects or families. After all, such people’s potential was limitless!
‘It seems I need to convince him no matter what’ Yan resolved her heart.
Enjoy!
