The Hero System - Chapter 53
“Rose, I need these materials.” Edward smiled as he passed the paper listing several Talisman crafting materials.
“Are these for your disciple?” Rose skimmed through the paper and started to check the materials.
“Yes!”
“Edward About the bet” Rose placed the paper down and looked into Edward’s eyes.
“You should have realized them already.” Edward smiled helplessly.
“I I can never repay you enough for what you have done for me. If not for you, I’d have died since long ago. However I need time” Rose blushed and tilted her head down.
Edward smiled and wanted to say something. However, the shop’s door opened. As expected, it was Jacob. The two glared at each other.
“Miss Rose, I’m here for the materials.” Jacob ignored Edward and walked toward Rose.
“Okay, wait here.” Rose looked at the two and nodded. She then left to the back of the shop to bring the materials.
“How’s your disciple doing? He didn’t run away yet?” Jacob mocked Edward but the latter simply ignored him. Everything would be proven in three months so he didn’t need to waste his breath for unnecessary bickering.
Edward placed the materials in his spatial ring and left the shop. He didn’t find it odd that Jacob was here. However, he wondered why Jacob needed materials for a Grade 7 Formation
A couple of minutes later, Edward reached Mr. Ebro calligraphy workshop. It was only 8 pm now and he was sure that Mr. Ebro would scold him like always. The two days of training is over now and he was here to bring Jonah back to the shop.
“Mr. Ebro!” Edward knocked for the first time.
As always, no response. Thus, he was about to knock for the second time when the door suddenly slammed open hitting him in the face.
“Ouch Mr. Ebro, what are you doing?” Edward’s nose was hit and his eyes were tearing up.
However, Mr. Ebro didn’t answer. Edward wiped his eyes and looked at the fat old man. However, he was stunned when he saw his unshaved chin, red eyes, and the black bags hanging under them!
“How much?!” Mr. Ebro didn’t answer and grabbed Edward’s collar before shouting.
“How much what? What’s wrong?” Edward struggled free before looking at Mr. Ebro like the old man went insane.
“How much do you want for your disciple?!” Mr. Ebro humped angrily.
Edward went silent as he looked at the latter. He seriously started to doubt this old man’s sanity. Mr. Ebro’s face went several shades darker as he can easily figure out Edward’s thoughts.
“Come!” Mr. Ebro flicked his sleeves and stormed back into the house. Edward can only helplessly follow.
As the two walked through the corridor, Edward can see many calligraphy paintings lying around. There were even some on the dining table and the bed.
Mr. Ebro opened the door to the study room and Edward jaws dropped. Thousands of calligraphy painting were scattered around the room The floor, the table, the shelves There were papers everywhere!
“Master!” Edward snapped out of his shock by Jonah’s voice.
Jonah grabbed tightly into his arm and looked at him with his bloodshot eyes. Edward can see joy and despair in his eyes.
“This guy is nuts! You need to get me out of here!” Jonah didn’t hold back the slightest as he pointed at Mr. Ebro and insulted.
“Bastard! How dare you!” Mr. Ebro also flared up and stepped forward.
“That’s the truth, old man! How can someone like you be sane?!”
“It seems you haven’t learned your lesson!”
“Bring it on, old man!”
The two started bickering as if they were each other’s nemesis. Edward’s head started spinning before he interrupted the two.
“Okay! What’s going on?” Edward stood between the two and raised his hands to prevent them from tearing each other apart.
“This kid is an idiot! He has the talent to become an illustrious calligraphy master, but he’s wasting it on talismans!” Mr. Ebro’s face twisted with anger as he explained, forgetting that Edward was Jonah’s talismans’ master.
“You senile old man, I told I’m not interested!” Jonah pointed with his finger from behind Edward’s back.
“You don’t know what’s good for you!” Mr. Ebro roared.
“Mr. Ebro, you can’t be that unreasonable!” Edward’s brows twitched involuntarily.
“Shut up, you ungrateful bastard!”
“Elder, please, let’s talk this through!” Edward tried to remind Mr. Ebro of his age and it seemed to work as Mr. Ebro calmed down.
After the three of them calmed down, they took a seat in the living room. Mr. Ebro’s maid brought some tea but none of the three were in the mood to drink.
Jonah’s mood was the worst as he was locked up in this house for two days with this crazy old bastard. After Edward left, Mr. Ebro started teaching him the beginner’s calligraphy technique that most apprentices know of. With the assistance of the system, Spiritual Sense, and Foresight, Jonah was able to reach the mastery stage of the technique in a couple of hours!
However, this backfired as Mr. Ebro took him for an unparalleled genius and got him into an ‘intense training’ for calligraphy!
Jonah can fathom their difference in strength so he had no choice but to wait for Edward. However, before the latter arrived, Jonah unlocked the system’s new function, professions!
