The Hero System - Chapter 55
However, Jonah’s shock didn’t fade away. In fact, it increased to a degree where his jaws literally dropped. After all, the Talismans’ crafting profession didn’t only contain skills It also contained items! Not any items, of course, they were Talismans! It took Jonah a while to realize what’s happening!
“Damn, this is an instant crafting function! I can instantly craft the Talismans that I master if provided the materials! This would save me the time and the increase the probability of success! However” Jonah knitted his brows as he read the first item.
[Spirit Arrow Talisman. Mastery: 0/100%. Consumption: 5 Spirit Points.][Craft]
‘It seems that I need to master the crafting process at first This would take a while given that there’s a chance of failure. Furthermore, there’s a spirit consumption to be considered Nonetheless, this is an advantage!’
Spirit Arrow was one of the Talismans Edward taught to Jonah. Although the latter has yet to craft any, he was rather familiar with its engravings. If he can master this Talisman in the short term His crafting process would soar and he can start making money.
‘However, this crafting function doesn’t exist for calligraphy. But that isn’t weird since Calligraphy is just an art rather than a profession in a sense.’
[Grade 9 Talismans Crafting. Mastery: Apprentice.][Rank Up: 30 Upgrade Points.]
[Spirit Talisman’s Crafting. Mastery: Apprentice.][Rank Up: 10 Upgrade Points.]
Jonah currently had only these two profession skills. He picked up the first one after his general lessons with Edward. The second one probably came from learning the Spirit Arrow talisman.
Without hesitation, Jonah ranked up the two of them instantly. After confirming it, the panel turned into a dazzling yellow light and pierced through Jonah’s forehead.
Following which, Jonah felt a throb of pain going through his head before disappearing and being replaced with knowledge about Talisman’s Crafting!
Sitting there for a couple of minutes, he was able to organize the knowledge he just gained. He felt that he can now more or less craft a Grade 9 Talisman and especially Spirit ones.
If he were to craft any Grade 9 Talisman now, he estimated his success rate to be around 20%. And it would be 30% for Spirit Talismans
However, it should be noted that this meant he can achieve this without using his Spiritual Sense and Foresight skills. That should raise his success rate to a new height.
Jonah felt that Talisman’s Crafting became easier than he thought. He wondered why people didn’t rush to learn the profession since that was the case.
If others heard Jonah’s thought right now, they would curse his ancestor to the ninth degree after vomiting a bucket of blood. How can people not think of that? Although Spiritual Sense was a common skill, it was still difficult to master As for Foresight, a rare skill was even harder
It can be said that people who treated skills for granted like Jonah didn’t exist in the world. Yes. They literally didn’t exist. After all, how can someone learn a skill just by saving a beggar Or scoring top Hate! Envy! If anyone knew about Jonah’s fortune, they would be consumed by these two things!
Of course, with such fortune came a greater responsibility. Jonah couldn’t do as he wishes most of the time. After all, even if he was fascinated by this world, who would willingly be a part of it?
Lying down on his bed, Jonah’s resolve wavered. At the end of the day, he was just a normal high school student. He was suddenly pushed out of a rooftop and then burdened with the world’s fate.
‘Sigh I wonder why I was so unfortunate to encounter such a thing. Was it meant to be? Why was it me? I don’t understand If there was a god, is this his plan?
‘However, those things don’t concern me. Heroism is nothing but recklessness if it isn’t backed by strength! Only strength is absolute in this world! If I had strength, I wouldn’t have been killed like an ant! If I had strength, I wouldn’t feel helpless in front of evil! Only with strength shall I prevail! And when that happens, anyone who has ever crossed me shall perish! Those self-centered people who care only about themselves at the expense of others shall turn into dust! This is my justice! I shall bend the world to what I see fit! I was given the opportunity to be powerful, and only the powerful can bend evil to his will and bring justice!’
A spark of determination and resolve ignited in Jonah’s heart. All those people who mistreated him or his loved ones shall be revenged on. All of those who do so shall be turned to bones under the rotten soil! Justice is only attained by the powerful!
He didn’t know if his ideas were right. They could be wrong, they could be half-right. They might change and they might last forever. However, for now, this is his resolve. If the heavens deemed him as mistaken, they can just claim his life if they can! He’d rather break than bend! He can never go anywhere if he lived by others ideas about right and wrong!
‘The first goal in my life, I shall conquer the world and cleanse it! I shall reshape society to what I see fit!’
On a quiet night in a parallel world, an ambition that would shock the world has just been born. If the world came to know of it, some people might laugh, some people’s blood would boil, some would think it’s overbearing But at the end of the day, each and everyone has their own ambition. Those who realize it can mend right and wrong!
