The Idol’s Wife - Chapter 310
As soon as Sunye informed KJ about the meeting, he had insisted for her security to be increased. He sent Riggs and Hyun Jung to her apartment right before she was to depart for the meeting with Tamlin for their plan to keep an eye on her. Even though Song Tamlin would be there, KJ wanted to personally take care of his sister’s safety. He did not even get the time to inform Mirae but she was still sleeping so he decided to inform her later.
Hyun Jung and Riggs rushed to Sunye’s house with their instructions. Sunye was wary but her brother was damn paranoid.
“I can handle this!” she protested when Hyun Jung and Riggs appeared at her door.
“I’m sorry, noona,” Hyun Jung apologized. “But orders are orders. KJ has given us strict instructions to keep you safe.”
“But the President might recognize you!” Sunye pointed out.
“He might,” Hyun Jung agreed. “But we’re not going inside with you. Song Tamlin is enough to protect you. The President won’t dare to mess with him and it will ensure your safety.”
“Then why will you two go with us?” she frowned.
Riggs held up a small black button. Sunye took it and examined it. Upon closer look, she realized it was a tiny microphone.
“How did you make this?” she asked, marveling at the little mic.
“Our CEO designed it,” Riggs replied. “Attach this button to your coat. We’ll be right outside the building, listening in to everything that will be discussed in the meeting. Song Tamlin’s guards will be outside the room anyway but if anything happens, we’ll be able to take quick action as well.”
“Nothing will happen to me,” she said, rolling her eyes. She really regretted calling her brother. He was such a worrywart!
“Does Mirae know about this?” she frowned.
“Not yet,” Hyun Jung said. “KJ said she was still asleep since she is sick and he did not want to disturb her. He took a day off from his schedules today. He’ll inform her once she’s awake.”
Sick? Sunye frowned. It seemed that they have not broken the news of her pregnancy yet. If it landed on the wrong ears, then the Cartel would become more aggressive in their pursuit.
“Fine,” she agreed, taking the chip. “I’ll attach it on my coat.
“Sew it under the helm of your collar,” Hyun Jung suggested. “To hide it from plain view.”
She nodded and went into her room to change her clothes. Half an hour later, she emerged from her room in a black suit with a knee length skirt.
“I sewed it to the collar like you said,” she stated, showing them the hidden button.
“KJ will be on my speakerphone,” Hyun Jung informed her. “He’ll also listen to everything. This is a one way microphone so we’ll be able to hear you but you won’t be able to hear us. Whatever you do, do not touch it frequently nor give away the hidden mic. Otherwise, the President won’t hesitate to kill you on the spot.”
“I know!” she exclaimed in frustration. “Can we go now?”
“You go ahead of us,” Riggs said. “We’ll follow you in our car.”
Sunye shook her head and exited the house. She got into her car and from the rearview mirror, saw the two men get into the cars. Even though she showed full confidence in front of them, she was very nervous. What if the President found out about the hidden mic? Will Song Tamlin stand by her and protect her? Or will he ditch her to save himself?
Knowing what kind of man Song Tamlin was, Sunye suspected the latter. The only reason he was helping Abyss was because of his soft spot: Soyeon. If Abyss had not helped Soyeon, Song Tamlin would not have cared about the battle between the two groups. He would have gladly sold KJ to the Cartel if it was beneficial to him.
Taking a deep breath, Sunye hit the pedal. Here goes nothing, she thought.
….
An hour later, she pulled up in front of Aroma Inc. From the corner of her eye, she saw Hyun Jung and Riggs parking in front of a cafe a few meters away from the building. They exited their car and went into the cafe.
Sunye got out of her car and approached the building. She flashed her card to the security guard who eyed her suspiciously. He took her details and made her walk through the metal scanner. Another guard took her bag and checked it thoroughly, rummaging the contents.
“Are you done? Or should I strip as well?” she snapped at them.
“You can go,” he said curtly. She snatched her bag and went into the large building. Song Tamlin was calmly sipping coffee at the waiting room. Sunye went up to him and bowed.
“You are late,” he commented. He knew precisely why she was late but they kept up the ruse.
“I’m sorry sir,” she apologized. “I was stuck in traffic.”
“No excuses next time, Ms. Han,” he said in a cool tone. “I hate late comers.”
Sunye hung her head low, and waited for him to go ahead of her. They stepped into the elevator. Tamlin pressed the button of the eighth floor.
Once the doors opened, they walked straight towards the only office room on that floor. Tamlin stopped and knocked on the door.
“Come in,” a smooth voice came from inside. Tamlin pushed the door open.
A young man stood there in full professional attire. He was standing next to a chair which was turned away from them. If Sunye had not smelled the cigarette smoke coming from behind the chair, she would have though no one was sitting on it.
“You have summoned us?” Tamlin stated. He did not bother to address the President. For all he knew, he was a nameless man with no existence.
“How is your progress with Kwon Jiwon?” Junhyung asked. “The President demands to know.”
Tamlin raised an eyebrow. “The last I’ve heard, he is the President of the Cartel,” Tamlin sneered. “Not you. Why is a kid like you talking between the a.d.u.l.ts? Don’t you know it’s bad manners?”
“I have been ordered by the President to represent him,” Junhyung said in a cool tone.
“For small fries maybe,” Tamlin shrugged. “But you’re way beneath me in status and class. I do not take orders from puny punks like you.”
Junhyung was slighted by the insults. Tamlin did not care and instead leaned back on his chair. He took out a box of his fresh Cuban Cigar, lit it and began to smoke casually from it. He motioned at Sunye to talk.
“Our boss is very close to Abyss,” she said. “They think he’s working for them whereas he is done using them for his benefit. The truth is, he was merely playing them as pawns to get revenge on Shun Oguri. Unfortunately, Shun Oguri was handed to the police instead and he died in their custody. Our boss was insulted when Abyss did not hand over the culprit to him instead.”
“Yet, Kwon Jiwon and his wife are living happily,” Junhyung shot back.
“We are trying to lure them into a trap,” Sunye said. “Kwon Jiwon’s next comeback will be his last.”
“He is too well protected,” Junhyung scoffed. “His fans beat up a top level assassin to a pulp! Attacking him at concerts is futile.”
“Then what are you up to?” Sunye demanded. Tamlin calmly smoked his cigar, carefully observing the faceless man behind the chair.
“You focus only on getting us information,” Junhyung snapped. “There is no point in attacking Kwon Jiwon anymore.”
Tamlin’s hands paused midway smoking the cigar. He tilted his head slightly, interested in what Junhyung was about to say.
“What do you mean?” he questioned.
Before Junhyung could answer, a raspy voice beat him to it.
“It means,” the President said. “It’s time I face Kwon Jiwon myself. I won’t attack him. He will come to me himself.”
The voice sent a cold shiver down Sunye’s spine. Her heartbeat sped up as the familiar voice hit her ears.
It’s him! she realized.
