The Idol’s Wife - Chapter 319
Sunye was at Song Tamlin’s office, attending a private and confidential meeting with him. They were at their wits end, trying to figure out what the President of the Cartel was up to. There was an eerie silence from their side, which only made the issue more grave.
“He will definitely attack KJ and Mirae,” Sunye stated. “But how?”
“We’re assuming he would attack at the anniversary party,” Tamiln said thoughtfully. “If he attacks them.”
He was leaning against his chair, deep in his thoughts. He was rotating his chair, oblivious to everything else but the doubts in his mind.
“He will,” Sunye frowned. “They’re his biggest target! Isn’t it obvious he’s gonna somehow lure them into a trap? I’ve heard that his secretary, Junhyun, had tried to harm Mirae at your party but you managed to have your men take care of it.”
Tamlin pursed his lips, choosing not to reveal who really saved her. If there was someone more dangerous than the President, it was Ash Park. That man was unreadable and unpredictable with no loyalty. Sometimes, Ash reminded him of Tamlin himself. Both of them were ruthless and cunning when it came to what they wanted.
“He will definitely try something again,” Sunye guessed.
“He will,” Tamlin agreed. “But is he going to repeat the same mistake? I doubt it. This time, the party will be at Mystic Entertainment, Abyss’ main business at the moment. Even with high security, there will always be a lapse. Although, we are putting that lapse on purpose to ensure that Junhyung or his men can enter the party thinking everything was going according to plan…”
“Isn’t that dangerous?” Sunye asked in shock. “Wouldn’t it be better if we manage to nab them at the gate?”
“You won’t be able to do that,” Tamlin said. “Last time, their men entered a highly secure stadium without detection. If the fans had not helped, we would have lost. It was KJ’s wit and the fans’ determination which saved him. Otherwise, KJ would have definitely died that night.
“But we are now prepared,” Sunye argued. “We can catch them at the gate! Our security is stronger and-”
“But if we catch them early on, they might end up killing themselves like that hitman did,” Tamlin pointed out. “The Cartel members are famous for carrying a vial of poison. If they ever get caught during a mission, they kill themselves. Death is better than ratting out the Cartel.”
Sunye was not convinced. She did not like the idea of letting the men in through a security lapse. What if they fail to protect KJ and Mirae? If anything went wrong…
“I still can’t be convinced,” Sunye sighed, shaking her head. “Song Tamlin, can’t you use your men to find out more info? If we knew exactly what the President was planning, we could be better prepared.”
Song Tamlin could not argue with that. But the President was not an easy man to spy on. Tamlin had to be careful not to give away his position as a spy. If he was not indebted to Abyss, he would never have bothered in this mess. However, he gave them his word and he intended to keep it until the end.
“If I am being honest,” he said. “I also feel something is amiss. Something is not fitting in.”
Would the President take the huge risk of attacking KJ and his wife? If he did then how was he going to do it? Would he be able to strike in the midst of such heavy security?
Sunye was also thinking on the same lines. Would the President really take the risk? But then again if he could attack KJ in his own concert then he could do anything. She still needed more information and unfortunately, there was only one way to obtain that.
She groaned inwardly. It was time to call SD. Suddenly, she stood up.
“Sir, I’ll take my leave for today,” she announced. Tamlin was a little surprised but nodded.
“See you tomorrow, Ms. Sunye,” he said. Sunye bowed and left the office, scurrying towards the exit. She took out her phone and reluctantly dialed the number.
“Hi honey,” SD’s sly voice came from the other end. “I’ve missed you. Are you still up for the dinner date?”
“Save it SD!” she snapped. “I need you to find information for me. Urgently.”
“You know I would do anything for you my dear,” SD mused. “I’ll text you the address to my new home. You’re welcome to stay the night-”
Sunye hung up before he could finish. She dashed towards her car and drove towards the address SD had texted her. It was time to find out what the Cartel was really planning.
….
An hour later, she pulled up in front of an old, dilapidated building. The walls were completely stained brown while a strange smell of fungi and dead rats. Sunye scrunched her face, trying to hold down the bile in her throat as she approached the entrance which was a heavy metal door. It has an electronic lock which needed a code to open.
Sunye sighed and pressed her birth date. If there was something she knew for certain about SD, is that all his passwords were connected to her. Last time, it was the code of her favorite perfume and this time, it should be something related to her as well so she started with her birth date.
The door clicked open on the first try. Sunye walked in. The place was dark but she could see an elevator in front of her. She entered it and pressed the button to the highest floor. Once it reached the sixth floor, she got off and made her way towards the only apartment on the floor.
She took a deep breath. Meeting SD was something she always dreaded. The man was unreliable since he only cared about getting paid but when it came to her, he was surprisingly lenient. That only made her suspect him more because she knew a man like him would never do something without a reason.
The door slowly opened and SD’s brooding face peeked from the door.
“Hi honey,” he greeted lazily. “Missed me?”
“We need to talk,” she said curtly. “I…I need your help.”
