“Pardon me sir, but there is a man asking to talk you”
The man she worked for was currently writing something on his desk as he looked through a book that seemed a hundred years old.
“Send him away! Can’t you see I am busy?” The man said,
This man was Charles Hemminworth, the current Dean of the King’s College. His full head of short white hair was neatly combed to the side, he had a monocle over his right eye as he looked through the ancient book.
Though this man now carried a cane as he walked you could still see the shadow of them man as he once was; tall, fit and some point, handsome.
“He said his name Acheron Belau, sir” The secretary lady said,
“I don’t know any bloody Acheron Be.” The Dean’s voice trailed off as he remembered his escapade long ago in the forests of Central America, in search of the Chupacabra.
During his adventure in search of the beast, he had met a young man, that had was also searching for it.
Unlike him, who was searching for proof of its existence, the young man believed it already did exist and was searching for it for another completely different reason to hunt and eat the mythical beast.
“That son of a bitch is still alive! Haha! I haven’t heard anything from him in 50 years!” The Dean exclaimed happily,
The secretary looked visibly confused,
’50 years? That cant be right’ she thought,
“Um sir? I don’t think he” the secretary began to say,
“You don’t think what?!… Well?! Show me to him!” the Dean said,
The Dean put the stuff he was researching down on his desk and headed for the waiting area outside his office, the secretary quickly followed him out.
‘For an old man, he sure can move when he wants to’ the secretary thought,
Charles was excited to see an old friend; he was sure Acheron had been adventuring all these years and he wanted to catch up and hear his stories.
He arrived in his waiting area only to see it empty except for someone reading a newspaper, the front page depicting another terrible murder that had recently been happening lately in the streets of London.
Charles was confused, the only person here was a young man, he could tell by the how young the fingers holding the newspaper up were.
He looked to his secretary, as if asking were the old man he was expecting was, the secretary looked toward the young man holding reading the newspaper,
“That’s him sir, he introduced himself as Acheron Belau” The secretary said,
Still skeptical, Charles walked up to the young man and asked,
“What is your relationship with Acheron Belau, young man?”
“It has been a long time, Charles” the young man said,
‘This voice’ Thought Charles,
“It seems that aging has not been your friend in the past 50 years, old friend” the young man said as he lowered down the newspaper he was reading, revealing his face.
*Gasp*
Charles stumbled back shocked at what he was seeing, he was looking upon the same face that he met all those years ago! He hadn’t aged a day!
“How can this be?!!?” Charles exclaimed hysterically,
Of course, the young man he was looking upon was Acheron.
Acheron stood up, folded the newspaper and set it down on the chair next to him.
“Let’s talk in your office, I’m sure you have many questions” Acheron said with a chuckle.
Charles just stared at Acheron as he walked pat him and headed for his office,
After Acheron entered his office, he finally had the chance to calm down a little,
“Don’t let anyone bother me! Cancel all my appointments for the day!” Charles said to his secretary as he hurriedly headed towards his office,
“But sir!..” the secretary exclaimed,
“Do what I said, woman!” said Charles as he slammed the door to his office closed.
After closing the door, Charles turned around and stared at Acheron’s back, who was seating in front of his desk facing the other direction.
Charles slowly went around Acheron and sat in his chair still not believing what he was seeing.
“I need your help Charles, your one of the few who knows about the world behind the veil, and I came from information.” Acheron said,
It finally clicked inside Charles’s mind,
“You are a Mutant, that’s why you still look so young!” Charles exclaimed,
Without confirming or denying his statement, Acheron continued to speak,
“Tell me what you know of Vampires”
Still looking at Acheron weird, he knows of rumors of mutants and mutant creatures that are hundreds of years old, but this was the first time witnessing it with his own eyes.
“How old are you? Are you a vampire, is that why you are asking me about them?…. just to let you know, I have high cholesterol my blood wont taste that good” Charles said,
Acheron chuckled,
“Focus Charles, and no, I am not a vampire, but I am far older than them” Acheron said,
“How can that be?! Vampires are the oldest race, as far as I am aware of” Charles said,
‘Matters not, old friend, I need to know what you know” Acheron said,
“Surely someone as old as you claim to be, should know far more than me..” Charles said,
“Just tell me all you know” Acheron said,
“Okay fine, well, where do I start. Vampires don’t really refer to themselves as ‘Vampires’ anymore, they are 2 groups now, they split up around 250 years ago.
The ‘True Bloods’ are a Matriarchal group; they are ruled by the ‘Prime’ or ‘Originator’ of their race The Queen of the Night, who is said to be over 600 years old.
While the ‘Vamps’ are ruled by whoever is the strongest, a savage group that adores sucking people dry and eating their flesh. That’s why you are here! The murders match a Vamp’s mealtime!”
“Good observation! Please continue” Acheron said,
“Well, most of the what you read about in books is all fake, the silver, the garlic, the cross, all those don’t do anything to them.
The sunlight only effects the Vamps, they break out in these horrible hives and their skin melt off their bones, I hypothesize that the reason for that, is the over consumption of human flesh and blood, it increases their power but not without side effects.
The True Bloods usually live regular human lives, you know they have jobs and lives and all that, they consume blood too, but they usually prefer to drink out of blood bags or out of willing people that they seduced, of course, they are hypnotized or drugged and wake up none the wiser.. their beautiful and young appearances, unlike the Vamps, who have a sickly look and a purple tinge to their skin, really help with their hunt.
Their usual hunting grounds are night clubs and things like that, where they can hunt discreetly and won’t stand out too much.” Charles explained,
“Weaknesses?” Acheron asked,
“Let’s see. They’re not immortal but they do have a fast regeneration and long lives, making it really difficult to kill them and they have heightened senses that make it harder to sneak attack.
But, even then, if you cut their heads off or destroy the heart it is definitely an instant kill.
If you are going to be using guns, armor piercing is the way to go, it won’t kill them, but they will defiantly cause some blood to spill.” Charles said
“Anything else?” Acheron asked,
“Noo, not really, wait! it is said that a werewolf bite is deadly to the vampire race, but I don’t know how that would help you here..” Charles said, he was now pacing around the room in excitement as he explained, he really enjoyed talking about mutants.
“Why? What happened?” Acheron asked as glint flashed across his eyes,
“Well, they vampires had a war with the werewolves, just before they split, the werewolves were annihilated and are now extinct” Charles said,
“Do the Lycans not affect them?” Acheron asked,
“No, so that’s why they are left alone by the vampires” Charles said,
Acheron stood up and was ready to leave,
“Well, that’s all I needed to know, ill be seeing you around Charles”
Charles was bewildered, he wanted to know more about Acheron and what he was capable of,
“Wait! At least tell me somethings about you!” Charles exclaimed,
“Ill be around for a month I’ll come around before I leave and answer your questions about anything, take it as final farewell gift from me, it would probably be our last seeing each other, old friend” Acheron said, as he turned around and walked out the door.
