The Immortal Ruins - Chapter 93 The Defense Position In Yungang
Lin Yuetao, the burly and skinny soldiers, Liu Guang and Chen Anguo arrived at the shelter at the head of a convoy of ten heavy-duty trucks.
As Liu Guang got out of the vehicle, he threw his arms on Jiang Shaoliu’s shoulders and grinned, “Mr. Jiang, now that the Wan Yao Restaurant is so famous, Lin Yuetao said the headquarters in the shelter ought to be more luxurious, so we brought some stuff.”
Jiang Shaolu smiled and greeted everyone, then led them to the restaurant, where Mr. Li had prepared fifty different dishes for them.
This time, Mr. Li cleverly prepared the food in large quant.i.ties, to the excitement and delight of the guests.
“Do you know what’s on the trucks, Jiang Shaoliu?” Lin Yuetao shot a mysterious grin as they drank. “Guess.”
Jiang Shaoliu laughed and replied, “Oh, stop the suspense and just tell me, I’ve already fed you all!”
“It’s a gift of military equipment from General Xu. He will send you the full inventory list via the smart watch later.” Lin Yuetao sighed and said, “Chi Xiao has been asking General Xu for support for a while now, but he’s decided to send all this to you instead, even though you didn’t ask.”
Jiang Shaoliu nodded pleasantly.
The Yungang League had come a long way. Now it was supported by him, Xiao Bai and the Monkey King, not to mention the 400-odd elite masters who were training hard and improving quickly. Now, with the financial support provided by the restaurant, the Yungang League had a solid foundation.
The new icing on the cake was having the support of the military.
“Mr. Jiang has eliminated Chi Xiao and become the leader of the Yungang League. We’ve very impressed with the progress he’s made. I propose a toast!” Liu Guang raised his gla.s.s and smiled. “Now I can take rewards tasks from both the military and the League. Well, I’ll be the first one to do so, hahaha”
After they finished their feast, Jiang Shaoliu said: “I’ve reserved rooms for you in the shelter. You can come and go as you wish.”
After the dinner, Liu Guang, Chen Anguo and the rest tipsily staggered off to their rooms to rest.
Jiang Shaoliu called Ruo Feng, and they went out of the shelter together with Lin Yuetao and walked around.
“What do you think?” Jiang Shaoliu asked, “Check the terrain; is it possible to build some proper defenses here?”
Lin Yuetao nodded and replied, “I think you can pull it off with the materials I brought you, but who are you defending against?”
Jiang Shaoliu had already thought about this. “Human masters.”
“Got it.” Lin Yuetao thought for a while and carefully said, “The existing defenses can hold off enemies up to two silver rings, but they may not be do against stronger ones.”
“You probably want to focus your defenses on repelling eneies with three silver rings or four bronze rings, but don’t worry, the Yungang League is just getting started.” Lin Yuetao waved an arm theatrically and said in a relaxed tone, “Something really big will have to happen to get anyone that powerful to come poking around here.”
Jiang Shaoliu thought about it and said in a low voice, “Mr. Lin, I need you to help me with the defense schematics. Make sure to leave some s.p.a.ce for future development.”
“No problem.” Lin Yuetao agreed heartily. “I’ll take care of it personally and keep the plans top secret.”
Jiang Shaoliu relaxed, shook hands with Lin Yuetao and said seriously, “Sorry to trouble you so much in this matter. Call me at any time if you need me and I’ll try my best to help.”
Lin Yuetao laughed, “That is what I should be saying to you, Shaoliu. Call me whenever you want, and I’ll do my best!”
After the equipment and materials were all transferred to the shelter’s warehouses, the guests left.
Jiang Shaoliu continued training, and everything in the Yungang League was running smoothly.
Lin Yuetao designed a fan-shaped defense network covering an area of five square kilometers in front of the shelter, which was much better than the previous scattered defenses. The drawings were handed over to Ruo Feng, who was in charge of overseeing the construction. The last of the contribution points from Yin Manshu were exchanged for construction supplies and equipment.
Shortly after, Yin Manshu called Jiang Shaoliu via his smart watch.
Jiang Shaoliu frowned, “I’m in a hurry.”
“h.e.l.lo, Mr. Jiang,” she said conversationally. “Why can’t I speak to you after you’ve purchased so many things from me with the contribution points I’ve given you? Aren’t you afraid I’ll change my mind and don’t transport the products to you?”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Jiang Shaoliu humphed. “Those points were the price to dissolve the grudge between us. If you back out, the Monkey King and I will come and kill you.”
With the smart watch touching her lip, Yin Manshu smiled and whispered, “I will not back out, why would you say that? Actually, I have good news for you. I will lead the team and oversee the transport personally, so please ask Mr. Li to prepare his famous delicious food for us.”
Then she disconnected.
Beside her, Yin Lianjiang looked at his daughter and said with a smile: “You’ve changed a lot since your little quarrel with Jiang Shaoliu. I’ve heard it’s been over a month since you last lost your temper. You’ve also made greater progress and condensed your forth life ring,”
“Who told you?” Yin Manshu said icily as the temperature in the room suddenly dropped, covering the windows in crystalline frost. “I’ll kill ’em.”
Yin Lianjiang put a hand on his chest and pretended to be in shock, but said with a mischievous chuckle, “Oh, you scare you old father, how terrible! Oh, I can’t stand this.”
Yin Manshu turned away from him exasperatedly.
Yin Lianjiang shook his head and slowly went to the window. “It’s such a nice day outside and the windows are frozen over. Now I can’t see anything…”
He stretched out a finger to tap the gla.s.s, and the frost immediately melted away and ran down to the floor. The frosty fog hanging in the room lifted and the temperature returned to normal.
“I’ve seen Jiang Shaoliu before on the internet. He had some quite interesting martial arts, and so did that Monkey King.” Yin Lianjiang looked at his daughter lovingly. “He’s now the leader of the Yungang League and manages the restaurant quite well. I think it’ll be great if we can invite him for dinner.”
Yin Manshu pouted angrily. “h.e.l.l no! He just threatened to come and kill me! I hate his guts.”
“How dare he!” Yin Lianjiang pretended to be angry, clenching his fist dramatically. “He’s only the leader of the Yungang League, no match for the Gangxin Group! If he touches you, I will obliterate the League immediately.”
Still pouting, Yin Manshu turned and went toward her room. “Dad, I’m going to the Yungang League. I’ll be back tonight.”
Seeing his daughter leaving, Yin Lianjiang felt relaxed and said to himself: “Manshu’s really changed a lot, but it’s better if she doesn’t like Jiang Shaoliu.”
“Jiang Shaoliu, is this the best your chef’s got?” Sitting in front of Jiang Shaoliu at Wan Yao Restaurant, Yin Manhsu glared at the juicy roast pork with fried rice on her plate disappointedly. “Why are you serving me this after I’ve come all this way to bring you your supplies? Where’s the monster meat? I love monster meat.”
Jiang Shaoliu silently lowered his head and chewed on some rice.
The young woman looked beautiful, with light make-up on, wearing a chiffon dress, crystal high-heeled shoes and a pearl-encrusted string hair ornament, like a princess from a fairy tale.
“Why the h.e.l.l is she dressed like that? It’s just a dinner” he thought.
“Jiang Shaoliu, I came today to talk about cooperation. You should pay attention to me.” Yin Manshu pushed away her plate and looked at him coldly. “I came here as a show of good faith, and I will not be treated like this!”
Jiang Shaoliu finished his rice and swallowed with satisfaction. “Have you even seen the film ‘The G.o.d of Cooking’? Rice is good for you. I especially asked Mr. Li to prepare this for you to the highest standards. Even Lin Yuetao ate this on his last visit.”
“I don’t believe you,” Yin Manshu spat. She put one chopstick-ful in her mouth, and her eyes lit up.
“The meat comes from a wild boar with two silver life rings,” Jiang Shaoliu said casually “and preserved in a special seasoning blend made by Mr. Li. The fried egg in the rice is from a bird with three bronze rings; it was the size of a beach ball, but we extracted only the most nutritious part of the yolk to make this fried rice.”
Yin Manshu took tiny bites, tears running down her cheek.
Yin Manshu finished the rice and wiped her eyes. “Why am I crying?”
Jiang Shaoliu looked at her and said in a low voice, “There’s onion in it.”
