The Imperial Gods Daughter - Chapter 21 My name...is Ke YongAn
The main six(no, it’s not Mlp) in charge of the operation all exchanged looks. Eyes softening with pity, they ordered the others to bring the food from the carriage.
For some odd reason, the aroma was able to reach the boy, despite the fact that “he” was quite far away. Instantly, the boy could feel saliva fill “his” mouth while the stomach rumbled in unison.
Sitting up abruptly, the boy did not care for “his” image, quickly snatching the food away and wolfing it down. However, one would choke easily from such an action, reflected by how “he” started to flail “his” hands around.
Hurriedly, someone passed a flask over, and the boy downed it, not caring that the water had also leaked down “his” chin.
“He” breathed a deep sigh of relief. “He” then turned toward the whole entourage and bowed deeply.
“Thank you so much for saving my life.” The boy said this solemely, yet it was ruined by his dirty face and clothes, his face not yet mature, as well as the water that had not dried on “his” chin. Thus, with the stoic image, it only made it more comical.
Feeling amused, coupled with pity, a girl wanted to help out more. She stepped forward and offered a handkerchief. This girl was around 16 years of age, and had a sweet and pure vibe. Her conteurs were not that extreme, nor was it thin. Just right. With a pretty face that was above Princess Huang Xing, the boy was a little surprised, however, a little bitter at the same time.
“Thank you.” The boy muttered, taking the handkerchief while being a little embarrassed. “I’ll wash it later.”
The girl merely sweetly smiled. “No need to. I can always buy a new one.”
The boy paused and stared at her blankly. Is this a rich person or something? Hmph, even when I was rich, I never indulge in this sort of stuff. “He” thought, feeling indignant. The thought suddenly caused “him” to be depressed.
Seeing “his” saddened face, a sense of protectiveness like a sister toward a little brother appeared. That 16-year-old girl turned to the entourage and spoke with a clear voice,
“Are there any spare clothes, and room for this boy?”
Realizing the 16-year-old girl intended for the boy to stay with them, some showed signs of hesitation.
“RuSu, this…” The man in the lead spoke. “Where we will be traveling to will be very dangerous. We absolutely do not need an extra burden.”
“Don’t call me RuSu! It’s Yan RuSu. Du GuYung, don’t you have any compassion? It won’t be that much trouble to bring along one more person.” The girl named Yan RuSu glared at that man.
Du GuYung sighed and shook his head helplessly. It was evident that he was more experienced than Yan RuSu in matters of handling situations.
At the name “Du GuYung”, the boy was surprised. That “du”? Or a different one? “He” inadvertently linked it with Du Jian, wondering if they belonged to the same family.
Coming back from the train of thoughts, the boy watched the show of the two squabbling. In the end, Du GuYung gave in, sighing, “I can’t beat your sharp tongue RuSu. We can let him come with us. But, he can only ride with us as far as getting to the city. You must also make him promise that he can’t leave one step out of the back carriage.”
Already delighted, Yan RuSu did not mind the condition and beckoned the boy over. Perking “his” ears that “he” might be able to freeload, the boy also had no qualms in the matter.
Grabbing “his” hand, Yan RuSu commented to herself that “his” palm was quite soft and delicate.
“Little brother, what is your name?”
At this question, the boy paused. Should “he” trust these strangers and give “his” real name? Analyzing the situation, and judging by how although some were against “him” staying, there was no true ill intent.
“My name…is Ke YongAn.”
Yes, “he” was Ke YongAn. Sorry for the late introduction with 700 words in already. XD Ahem,
Ke YongAn had been wandering down the confusing rice farms, begging for scraps of food. However, it seemed many were stingy, and the farmers spared not even a grain of rice. Ke YongAn, being unwilling to steal, only continued to beg. This continued for several days, until she decided to hunt for herself. Unfortunately, she had no strength left and thus her current state.
Why didn’t she reveal her cultivation?
(Well…here’s your bullcrud…)The taxes were abnormally high(anyone wanna guess why? :D) and they could not spare much or else they would be hacking down their living. Ke YongAn was only at the Nine Passages stage, and would not be much use to them and besides, they would have another mouth to feed if Ke YongAn worked for them. Everyone wanted a better life. Such was the greed of humans.(here’s your bullcrud that there are no kind hearted people. Guys, I ran out of ideas okay?)
Seeing the kindness of the entourage(ignoring all those other gazes), Ke YongAn was moved.
She was increasingly curious to where such a group was headed.
“Hey, sister, where are you guys going?”
Yan RuSu had her guard down against Ke YongAn. Thus, she answered truthfully with a smile,
“We are under the Du Clan’s orders to deliver these tributes and negotiation gifts to the Great Floating City in the middle of the Eastern Desert. But first, we’re going to find our backbone in this forest.”
Great Floating City? Ke YongAn furrowed her brows. She was always unable to have patience studying geography, and therefore did not know many places in the continent.
Ke YongAn did not wait long until the carriage stopped. Curious, yet knowing she couldn’t go out of the carriage, Ke YongAn sneakily pulled up the blinds.
There stood a small hut in the middle of this nowhere, and a greedy middle-aged voice spoke out,
“10 000 gold coins!”
Hey guys! I’m back! 😉 I’m kind of out of the swing of things so it’ll be hard for me to get back into updating frequently. If I miss one or two days, don’t kill me! >.<
Another thing…I feel as though I’m writing Spirit Awakening Stage experts like cabbages on the ground XD
