The Imperial Gods Daughter - Chapter 24 What Are You Afraid Of?!
Sending a strand of consciousness, Ke YongAn appeared before that lightning snake. Sensing Ke YongAn’s presence, that lightning snake lifted what seemed to be its head and the lightning strands on its body flared.
Geh! The sight was intimidating, and Ke YongAn could help but back out cautiously…and ran. Ke YongAn retrieved her consciousness, shaken by what she saw. It seemed she had a trauma of lightning. The searing pain as limbs spasmed…Ke YongAn couldn’t help but shudder at reminsensing the inhuman pain.
For now, Ke YongAn couldn’t bring herself to cultivate.
Why is it so dark? Is it night? Ke YongAn wondered at the dimness of the carriage. Peeking her head outside, Ke YongAn was stunned by the millions of stars above her head. They glittered, enrapturing Ke YongAn within.
“Oh? You’re up?”
Snapping out of her daze, Ke YongAn turned to see Yan RuSu smiling at her. Ke YongAn then noticed that the carriages had stopped and there were several fires lit with many laughing and joking around.
Suddenly noticing the aroma of food, Ke YongAn’s stomach growled and her saliva began to churn.
Embarrassed, Ke YongAn instinctively turned her head to see Yan RuSu still smiling at her, although the small amused laughter in her eyes gave her away. When Ke YongAn opened her mouth to say something to elevate her awkwardness, only rumbling sounds continued.
“Come over and eat! Big sister will introduce you to everyone.” Yan RuSu spoke, helping Ke YongAn out of the carriage.
Ke YongAn did not like being treated as though she was less than 10, but she only rolled her eyes and said nothing.
Many noticed Yan RuSu go by and spoke casually to her, which Yan Rusu replied to. It seemed she was on good terms with everyone.
She finally made it to the last campfire. Saluting to everyone, Yan RuSu sat down. There was still some large chunks of flesh being warmed. Handing one to Ke YongAn, Ke YongAn didn’t even bother any manners before wolfing it down. This caused some displeasure to the ones sitting around, especially the one called Elder Cai.
“So…who is this little brother?” Du GuYung spoke to dispel the odd atmosphere to disappear.
Ke YongAn glanced at Du GuYung. Swallowing the piece of flesh, with some hunger sated, suddenly became self-aware.
She immediately shot straight up and bowed, apologizing over and over.
“No problem.” Du GuYung waved his hand(Do ancient chinese people do this?) signaling Ke YongAn to stop.
Yan RuSu explained,
“This is Ke YongAn. We found him starving along the road so now he is traveling with us.”
“And what use does he have?” One of the teenagers around prompted, not appreciating Ke YongAn’s presence. But that was to be expected, as Ke YongAn really was a burden right now.
“Yu Mo, don’t say something so rude!” Yan RuSu snapped at the boy who just snorted in return.
Ke YongAn just shrugged and continued to eat.
Another boy that was tall for his age and possessed a strong stature looked at Ke YongAn amicably and said,
“How’s the centipede meat? I cooked it myself.”
At this, Ke YongAn almost choked from shock. she looked at the half-eaten piece of meat she had been happily gorged on, wavering on if she should continue or not. Seeing Ke YongAn hesitate, the boy hastily spoke,
“Don’t worry, I already boiled out the poison. It shouldn’t have any side effects.”
That’s not the thing I’m worried on…
“Ke YongAn, that is brother Hai Dong.”
Ke YongAn said her hello to the one who cooked the centipede flesh.
You already met Du GuYung.” Yan RuSu gestured, successfully distracting Ke YongAn from becoming queasy.
“This is Yu Mo,”
Ke YongAn turned to see the boy who had questioned her use. He snorted again and rolled his eyes. Yan RuSu shot him a glare and carried on.
“Lo Feng.”
The youth heard his name being called and nodded his head, shyly retreating his head into his cloak.
“…And this is Lan GuEr.” Even though lan GuEr didn’t seem to possess any remarkable abilities, Ke YongAn couldn’t shake the feeling that he was extremely dangerous. In fact, Ke YongAn almost produced sweat. Looking at his face, there was also some sort of familiarity at the features. The name too. Have I met him before?
“Finally, this is the extremely powerful Esteemed Elder Cai.”
Soaking in the praise, Elder Cai swept his gaze across Ke YongAn, as if establishing his status.
I can see he’s pretty narrow-minded…Ke YongAn deduced, seeing the immature antics of Elder Cai. Hearing Yan RuSu showering praises to Elder Cai made Ke YongAn feel awkward and irritated.
Finally, getting sick and tired of the constant flattering, Ke YongAn interjected,
“Elder Sis, everyone, thank you for letting me stay. I will go and leave you time together.” Speaking humbly, she stood up and walked away.
Sitting in the coldness and underneath the cloudless sky, Ke YongAn crossed her arms, mulling over what Yan RuSu had told her. It was a constant itch on her heart.
A sudden constant chorus of voices cheered in the background. Distracted, Ke YongAn curiously listened.
“Drink, Drink, Drink, Drink, Drink!”
It turned out they were having a drinking competition.
“I-I don’t think I can.” The voice belonged to Lo Feng, who was shrinking himself deeper into his cloak. It seemed he wanted to disappear from all the watchful gazes.
A booming voice sounded out of nowhere,
“What are you afraid of?!”
It was Elder Cai, with a grim look on his face. He currently had a cup of wine in-front of him.
The voice was loud, powered with his cultivation base. However, to Ke YongAn, it was if a thunderbolt struck her.
It seemed to answer her question to her cultivation.
Yes…What was she afraid of? It didn’t matter if she was almost shocked to death by lightning. That was in the past.
With renewed determination, Ke YongAn circulated her Qi and confronted that lightning snake once more…
Guys, I am too lazy. Tooo laazzzzzyyyyyyy
