The Imperial Gods Daughter - Chapter 25 Attack!
The lightning snake flared its frightening lightning sparks, but Ke YongAn did not flinch this time around.
Lightning was very domineering and vicious. It did not accept its host because the host was too weak-willed to control it.
Breathing in deeply, Ke YongAn steeled her whirling heart and took a step forward. Her throat couldn’t help but constrict, and her palms were wet from sweat. In fact, it took all her strength to continue and walk forward one shaky step at a time.
The roar of lightning filled Ke YongAn’s ears as she came 50 metres close to the lightning snake. Suddenly, bright light flashed past Ke YongAn and banged against the ground of the meridian. It didn’t leave a mark, but Ke YongAn still winced from the pain since it still hit a part of her.
Ke YongAn didn’t dare imagine what effect there would be if it actually stuck directly at her strand of spirit consciousness…She already lived through the pain of lightning against her bare body…
However, despite shuddering at the memories, Ke YongAn didn’t stop advancing. She did not know why she was doing this. Why do I want to continue to put myself in danger? For what reason do I want to become stronger?
Ke YongAn looked back upon her life. Aside from Emperor Huang ZiYun, there really was no one that knew who she was. Though Yan RuSu was very nice to her. But they weren’t close at all.
So did it matter if she died or lived?
Sometimes, one did not need a reason for doing something. If they like it, they would continue to do it, even if they did not have a glorified story behind their decision.
Whatever. What happens happens.
Throwing all fear aside, Ke YongAn walked more steadily. She felt more courageous all of a sudden, as though a cage that she had not known existed, was broken.
The lightning snake sent more flashes of lightning that was uncomfortably close to her face, but Ke YongAn wasn’t fazed. Although, her face was becoming increasingly pale from the pain.
It was now, with fear dispelled, that Ke YongAn realized that the lightning snake wasn’t aiming to kill her. After all, it could have done so countless times. Or could it be that it can’t kill me?
Shaking her head helplessly, Ke YongAn finally stood a metre in-front of the snake. She looked up at what she assumed was the head and studied it’s body. Now that she was this close, Ke YongAn was able to notice that the lightning snake actually possessed several special lines running through its body. What was shocking that this snake, despite being purely made out of lightning, had occasional scales littering its body!
Just as Ke YongAn began to relax and focus on studying this special creature in-front of her, its maw had opened and several more lightning bolts has spilled out. Unlike the other whitish-blue bolts, this one was richly blue that had even almost looked violet.
By the time Ke YongAn was aware, the lightning bolts had already invaded her body.
On the world outside, through the chilly night, a rich blue-violet colour flashed across Ke YongAn’s body. She awoke with a sharp pain pulsating through her body.
Going through her instincts, Ke YongAn sat in a meditative pose despite her limbs starting to spasm. Her body was growing steadily stronger under this violent tempering. Ke YongAn could feel as though a new door had opened for her, and each time the lightning flickered, the more Ke YongAn understood.
It was not just about electrons and protons! The lightning itself had a will, a Dao, and a life.
However, this wonderful state did not last for long, for Ke YongAn had to awake as the last wisp of lightning was absorbed by her body. Aside from the fact that her body was sore and she had trouble walking around, Ke YongAn could tell that her body was way stronger than before.
Most of the time, in her past world, one had to gain some muscles in order to be stronger, and not this strange bizzare way of tempering themselves with Qi or whatnot.
Will I become a muscle woman if I continue down this line? …uh, let’s not continue this train of thought.
Dispersing these thoughts, Ke YongAn turned her attention to her surroundings after noticing that it seemed brighter than before. A voice sounded out the next moment,
“YongAn, where are you?”
“Maybe he just went and died somewhere. It’s a common occurence anyways.” The voice belonged to Yu Mo, the one who was quite rude toward Ke YongAn at the campfire.
“Yu Mo! Don’t joke around with things like that.” Came Yan RuSu’s enraged voice.
“What? I was just saying the truth.”
Ke YongAn popped out from a sand-dune right at that moment.
“Ah, YongAn.”
Noticing Ke YongAn right away, Yan RuSu grabbed her arm and dragged her forward to the entourage. It was only the first signs of dawn, but everyone had already gotten prepared to go, something that made Ke YongAn embarrassed as she was freeloading, but had done nothing in return.
As for Elder Cai…he was floating in the air, looking extremely imposing and nodding at the group encouragingly. His face was ruddy from what seemed like joy.
Probably from flattering. Thought Ke YongAn. After continuing with this train of thought, Ke YongAn suddenly realized something odd. If he is so powerful, how come he couldn’t sense anything from last night?
Ke YongAn might not have been fully awake at that time, but she was conscious enough to see the thin strips of lightning flickering across her body. Although, it might be because of the alcohol and that everyone was too occupied on other things. Aren’t cultivators supposed to have a high tolerance to alcohol? Whatever. What happens, happens.
After that thought, Ke YongAn realized she had become a lot more laidback now that this problem had been solved. Perhaps the lightning’s characteristics played a role in this too.
“By the way elder sis, what happens after you deliver the cargo and negotiate?” Ke YongAn quipped, in a good mood.
In response, Yan RuSu let out a contemplative “mmm” before deciding on an answer,
“I have one more task to do.”
“What task?”
Only an apologetic smile greeted Ke YongAn, signalling the end of this topic. To this secrecy, Ke YongAn felt curious, but did not press further.
Just as Ke YongAn found another topic to start on and open her mouth, a shout rumbled through the setting sail entourage,
“ATTACK!!”
