The Imperial Gods Daughter - Chapter 30 A 'sLil Bow Part 2
“Quickly, quickly, it’s going to begin!”
Ke YongAn deduced that it was Fei Dan’s senior brother who had spoken. Since she had been on guard all this time, as soon as Fei Dan’s grip loosened, she escaped and ran off. Over the course of this walk, she tried reasoning with Fei Dan, but he hadn’t listened. She had tried to use her martial arts too, but that also proved useless. So now this was the only thing she could do.
However, fate decided just now to play against Ke YongAn.
A man with a young immature face looked at Ke YongAn and brightened his gaze. He was wearing blue clothes and an ordinary iron bow lay across his back.
“Hey Xiao Lu, you forgot this!”
Before Ke YongAn could react, with that man’s superior cultivation, a medallion coincidently flew out of his sleeve and landed on her body just as a beam of light -a beautiful string of white- landed on her running figure.
She instantly stopped and grabbed the medallion that fell off her body and searched for whoever threw it at her. She couldn’t find the person. After a few moments of processing what occurred, Ke YongAn pieced the situation together. Her facial expression darkened. That guy whose name is Xiao Lu! We have never interacted and this is what happens? You implicated me before I even met you…and now you implicated me once again by throwing this damned medallion at me? Fudge you!
Ke YongAn did not hate Xiao Lu, but she was annoyed and pissed off.
The next source of action was to throw this damned medallion as far away as she could, but it was a little too late. Just as the medallion was about to leave her hand, the teleportation was activated, so in the next moment, the medallion was flung into the air in a different space…
…that instantly hit someone’s head.
A moment of silence conveniently existed for the moment, and from observation, clearly wasn’t the work of coincidences, causing the scene to have a more drastic effect.
When that head turned around calmly, Ke YongAn couldn’t help but be – well, not shock, but more than surprise – stunned at seeing a familiar face.
Du-Du Jian? Why is that guy here?
Yep, you guessed correctly, that ball of arrogance on that day of the examination, Du Jian.
Du Jian in turn was also stunned at seeing Ke YongAn. But there was obvious confusion on his face as he opened his mouth and closed it.
Ah…Ke YongAn suddenly remembered the plausible reason as to why Du Jian was confused. After all, in the academy, there was another face the exact same as hers walking around.
Ignoring the stares and pressing down her awkwardness, Ke YongAn said something since she couldn’t avoid the situation at this point,
“Hello fellow esteemed cultivator. I apologize for throwing…er, my medallion at you.”
Yes! The best thing is to play dumb and pretend we never met! No matter what, you don’t have the proof that we met before so I will just keep denying anything.
Du Jian looked even more confused at Ke YongAn’s greeting and took a minute to process everything. His arrogant demeanor returned soon after though.
“Hmph! Throwing such a thing is very rude. If you kowtow to me once, I will accept your apology!”
Seeing all the prying eyes around, Ke YongAn’s internal mood took a further plummet. She looked at Du Jian unkindly(after all, no one wants to endure such a humiliation) and she was already close to breaking her fuse from the earlier incident, but because she was the one in the wrong, she swallowed her dignity. Adding to the fact that she was naturally the kind that didn’t care too much about pride, Ke YongAn lowered her head and kowtowed before Du Jian.
Some people whispered amongst each other after Ke YongAn got back up and walked away, but none of the stares were kind. Some had some regret that no big show was put forth; others looked at her with disdain and a few had sympathy, but everyone still didn’t think anything was wrong since it was caused by Ke YongAn.
“Hey! Xiao Lu! Over here!”
And of course, there was still Fei Dan and his senior brother.
Ke YongAn didn’t have much of a choice but go over. She knew nobody here(aside from Du Jian but it would be awkward if she were to go over and speak when she already said she didn’t know him) and had no knowledge of the event currently happening.
“You little troublemaker.” This was the first thing said to Ke YongAn when she just went over.
Ke YongAn ignored the comment.
“This will be the last time I will say this to you guys: I am not Xiao Lu. Choose to believe me or not.” Ke YongAn opened her mouth and said this, and did not insist any further. She felt so irritated and tired that she wished she never went out to walk onto the streets, no matter how bored she was.
Mumbling to herself, Ke YongAn quickly calmed down and took a look around.
What they were currently in was a floor of a wide hall in a pagoda where a statue depicting a God sat in the middle. There seemed to be a mysterious force around the statue, as Ke YongAn could see it clearly, but could not see its features clearly either. Well, Ke YongAn knew this God was connected to something like a bow, which made sense, as everyone here was carrying one.
“Remember, we are here for friendly competition, not a life or death situation.”
Ke YongAn’s focus was redirected to Fei Dan’s senior brother, Tian Nian’s, words.
Fei Dan nodded seriously, along with a few others in the group, and as if in tacit understanding, looked at Ke YongAn who was the only one who did not nod in unison.
After half a beat of hesitation, and deciding to go with the flow, Ke YongAn also nodded, but then asked,
“I’m sorry, would anyone mind to explain what is happening around here?”
The others in the group, excluding Fei Dan and Tian Nian, already were displeased with Ke YongAn who caused a scene(some would still sneak a glance at their group from time to time) and their impression of Ke YongAn fell when she asked this idiotic question.
Having learned to thicken her skin without a choice, Ke YongAn ignored the few annoyed gazes.
“I will only say this once. Our group, which represents the Cloud Sect, have come to participate in this competition with other sects and rogues that occurs once every half a decade. It is a way to prove yourself to the sect or earn fame. At the same time, there is a succession in this pagoda on a bow art, but no one knows the process to gain access to the succession.
This is only a friendly competition between sects, keep in mind. Thus, you can’t use underhanded means or you will be thrown out.” Luckily for Ke YongAn, Tian Nian was a very patient person and aside from a strange look thrown at Ke YongAn, he did not pry into Ke YongAn’s secret as to why she did not have the knowledge(the not-so-secret since she had already tried to explain several times).
I wonder…is this book to slow paced? Too little action packed? God I’ve never really thought about action before when writing.
