The Indescribable Diary - Chapter 14
As the screams faded away, Yu Yi disguised himself as a guard. Under the cover of the thick fog, he didn’t even need to go through a check before mixing in with the other guards. However, he didn’t have to pretend to be someone else for long. Sounds of the witches’ prayers came from the center of the ceremony. Flames and a peculiar dim light emerged from the depths of the pit. One of Yu Yi’s Molotov cocktails had landed directly into the pit. Although he wasn’t sure what exactly was in the pit, he knew that there was some kind of propellant inside. The fire grew larger almost instantly.
As the fire grew, even the Byakhees that were sprinting forward returned. The sound of glass shattering rang out as countless Mi-Gos flew from the fires within the pit. They screeched in the most indescribable manner and began to attack the people on the ground, as well as the Byakhees in the sky.
Although the sudden increase in the Mi-Gos number had caused a mess, the people participating in the ceremony calmed down quickly. The Officials pointed flamethrowers at the sky, but the Mi-Gos broke through the people’s defenses and grabbed a witch before flying off. Soon, the witch fell, screaming, from a great height and smashed directly into the ground. She was dead for sure.
The other seven or eight Byakhees drew even more attention. Just as Yu Yi thought that the people participating in the ceremony were about to lose, Dazhu, still holding the Tai Sword, waved her hand calmly. She lifted her hand slowly, as though she was the leader of a flock of birds. Immediately, countless shadows appeared from the surrounding forest. They broke through the red fog and attacked the Mi-Gos. These were Byakhees, a lot of Byakhees. There were at least dozens of Byakhees that broke through the fog. How many more could there be?
How rich could this cult be to summon so many Byakhees? Mi-Gos can be explained as they are spawned automatically, but summoning Byakhees requires magic! Even if their riches were passed down from generations, there was no way that the cult had such a big magic reserve!
Although some of the Mi-Gos stayed, more of them dashed into the thick fog. Soon, sounds of intense fighting could be heard through the fog. Afterwards, an island-wide alarm began to wail. It was a sharp and uncomfortable noise, akin to air-raid sirens. If one heard something like this in TPRG games, then they had to be cautious, as this meant that the Star of Judgement was arriving. This time, however, it probably was really an air raid siren.
Yu Yi’s phone lit up, which was really a bad time. He glanced at his surroundings and made sure that everyone’s attention was focused on dealing with the Mi-Gos’ attacks. He hid himself in the red fog and picked up the phone.
“Hello?!”
“Yu Xing, the Mi-Gos are expanding across the entire Floating Island, together with the Byakhees. The entire island is in a mess. Oh right, the red fog is expanding outwards too! We’ve inspected the CCTV tapes from each region, and almost all of them were covered by the red fog. Just as you’d predicted, the island shut off the sightseeing elevators and halted the entry and exit of tourists. All those who tried to break out were killed immediately.”
Yatok was breathing hard. The sounds around him were cacophonic. Obviously, Opaci and him were temporarily safe and had blended into the crowd successfully.
“There are too many Mi-Gos. We never know when they’ll come out and drag people into the fog. The Byakhees are useless against them. Just be careful.”
“Got it.”
They made sure each other was safe before hanging up. Yu Yi looked up and examined the place again. This was the only place that wasn’t covered by the red fog. The red fog acted as a safety measure. When emergencies like these occurred, the fog would immediately begin to spread to cover up the truth. The battles between the Mi-Gos and Byakhees would completely be hidden in the red fog. However, since there were too many Mi-Gos for the Byakhees to handle, some of the tourists would be unable to escape the wrath of the Mi-Gos. In this scenario, to save oneself was difficult enough. No one cared about rescuing other people.
His vision turned towards the central region. The Mi-Gos in the pit had disappeared. The ground was littered with bodies – some of them were Mi-Go bodies, some of them were Byakhee bodies, and some were human bodies. However, the Dazhu remained completely composed – she raised the Tai Sword against the attacking Mi-Gos. The blade flashed before Yu Yi could see exactly what was going on. A Mi-Go was dead on the ground, and another. Mi-Go bodies were scattered around her.
Yu Yi was shocked. Just how strong was she in battle?! KP! Can I see her NPC card?!
“Disgusting brutes… Leaving me to deal with these cheap creatures… After all these, all of you will be punished.”
Muttering strange words, Dazhu swung her intricate Tai Sword and shook off the blood on its blade. She turned around and looked at Yu Yi’s direction. In that instant, their eyes met, and alarm bells began to ring in Yu Yi’s heart.
KP’s dice started to roll. In the next instant, the answer was revealed.
Without hesitation, Dazhu walked towards Yu Yi’s location. He had been discovered. She walked towards him directly and briskly and casually swung her sword to sever an attacking Mi-Go without so much as a glace. Even though the Mi-Gos wore armors, they were hardly able to withstand a single hit. If there were guns, they wouldn’t even be able to come close.
Yu Yi gave up his disguise without hesitation and turned into the fog. While he sprinted, he discarded his costume and threw away the monkey mask. He put on a different mask and changed his coat. Fortunately, he had prepared adequately. Everything was bought beforehand and was already put on beneath his clothes. Although it was hot and stuff, it was convenient to change his appearance in emergency situations like these.
Soon, Yu Yi escaped the Red Fog Zone based on his memory as guards hollered behind him. Due to the expansion of the red fog, even if he escaped the Red Fog Zone, he was still covered by a layer of thick fog. Screeches and howls of pain came from the sky from time to time. The Mi-Gos were slowly being suppressed. Although they had natural armors and were almost able to defeat the Byakhees, there were simply too many Byakhees for them to take on. However, they were unable to kill the Byakhees and were of fewer numbers. Hence, they were at a disadvantage.
Panting, he entered the high-altitude surveillance area. There were many people here. Most of them were tourists who escaped from the shopping street.
“I’ve been discovered. Where are you?!”
Yu Yi sent a text message to Yatok.
“We’re in the residential area. Opaci’s Willpower check failed again, so we’re thinking of ways to escape the Mi-Gos and Byakhees. We’re heading into the Old City. You look for a place to hide first. Once we get the parachute, we’ll look for you!”
Look for a place to hide… where? There were many people here. If his opponents really wanted to look for him, there was only one exit. It was only a matter of time before he could be found. Furthermore, Yu Yi wasn’t sure if his disguise worked. After all, that woman detected him after looking at his eyes.
Hotel? Definitely not. Yu Yi didn’t believe that Dazhu didn’t know where he stayed.
At this time, some noises could be heard from outside. Some of the guards arrived at the surveillance zone. Soon enough, the luxuriously dressed witch walked in barefoot, her feet making bloody footprints on the ground. The blade in her hands glimmered in a cold shimmer. Although it looked clean, it had seen lots of blood.
“Witch?! Please explain this… erm?!”
A middle aged man immediately walked over when he saw the witch who presided over the ceremony. A bunch of people crowded around her, looking for an explanation. They wanted to leave this strange place, but two of the tourists had been shot and killed while trying to enter the sightseeing elevators. Strange monsters were taking people in the fog too. All of these were too strange to comprehend.
Before the man even came close enough to the witch, she swung her sword gracefully. In a moment, a smooth and even cut appeared from his neck to his feet. He was cut into two without effort.
After a short silence, the entire surveillance area became a mess.
“Your Majesty! Please do not…”
After witnessing this, the guard immediately knelt before the witch, hoping for her to stop killing the innocent. After all, they had spent much effort building up a stronghold here. If she massacred innocent people, trouble was sure to follow.
However, before his voice fell, the guard felt a sudden wave of dizziness. He looked at his familiar body, decapitated and unable to make another sound.
“I don’t need useless subordinates. Neither do I need servants who wish to alter my decisions.”
Waving the Tai Sword, the witch walked into the crowd. Rather, she walked through the crowd towards Yu Yi.
