The Indescribable Diary - Chapter 6
Ancient Ruins Area.
Despite its namesake, the ancient ruins area was not actually damaged. In fact, it was preserved quite well with many residents. The area was like the older city centers of various modern cities. Everything looked retro and nostalgic, the cultural atmosphere of the olden days. There were no differences between it and historical sites of ancient cities.
However, Yu Yi was sure that something was definitely hiding here. It was not that he had discovered anything, but because the plot writers would often bury mines here! These mines exploding would only be a matter of time!
However, it was just that the entire place looked as peaceful as can be, and seemed like nothing surprising would occur. Yu Yi was disguised as a tourist, so he followed a local tour guide and explored the entire place. On the way, he had bought two seemingly useless decorative items. There were no weapons here. If the KP didn’t allow him to bring any in the first place, then none would be found here too. The only way was to look for them from random places. Yu Yi had seen some fields in his surroundings. Perhaps there would be tools that he could use as weapons. Although they wouldn’t make strong weapons, they still may prove useful during a battle.
He couldn’t use Shotgun Flying Kick either. After all, it depended too much on his appearance. Yu Yi knew that his face was not that of a fishman’s. With his current appearance, he would be able to charm the pants off an entire crowd by smiling. For example, he had bought the two items to test his ability to charm people. The original price was 120, but after Yu Yi flashed a smile, the items were sold to him for 10 dollars. They were pretty much free!
“KP, I’m going to make an Inspection.”
There were many people here, so there was no point using Eavesdrop. At least there was no use using it now. Eavesdrop only proved its importance during key moments. It was one of the tools used by the KP to trick players.

The Inspection was carried out. Yu Yi subconsciously shook his head, and a small wooden hut appeared before his eyes. These small wooden huts were quite common in the ancient ruins. Most of them were open, so this one was not particularly eye-catching. However, it was obvious that it was a shop. Perhaps this was the reason for the almost non-existent customers in the wooden hut. There was only a woman sitting at the doorstep. Presumably, she was the owner of the shop.
Since she was discovered after Inspection was used, then it would definitely affect the game progression.
“Hello, may I know what you sell?”
Without hesitation, Yu Yi walked over and smiled at the woman.
“Oh! Hello, handsome tourist! You’re the first one to notice my shop today, so I’ll give you a 15% discount!”
After looking at Yu Yi, the woman was stunned for a moment before smiling. Obviously, his charming appearance had worked.
“A discount? Wow, I’m so lucky!”
Although it was a bit too deliberate, there was no need to delve too much into the details of his action. He was playing a role, after all.
After entering the shop, Yu Yi’s eyes lit up. He saw a few parachutes. Although Not for Sale stickers were pasted on the items, they were definitely still for sale. After all, after the events that occurred here, who would care if these parachutes were stolen or bought? This was good. Now, on top of the six sightseeing elevators, the parachutes now meant that there was another way to leave the island. With a total of five parachutes, there were even spare ones for Yu Yi’s team of three.
Yu Yi silently committed the address of the shop to memory. He looked at another place. The items sold here were quite different from the items sold in the other shops outside. Items like puppets and dolls were commonly sold, but this shop mostly sold masks. All kinds of them. Some of them resemble animals, while others were related to missions. There were also some strange-looking wooden weapons such as maces.
“This is a pretty mask. Did you make it?”
Yu Yi picked up a mask. He was determined to be on good terms with the owner of the shop. He didn’t even mind pandering to the shop owner. After all, after this game, he would have nothing to do with her.
“Yup, I made all of them by hand,” she said proudly. She passed a vermillion colored mask to Yu Yi. It was intricately drawn and decorated, such that it resembled a fox. “This is the work I’m most proud of! Even Dazhu likes it and would always wear it during sacrificial ceremonies. Since you’re so pleasant, I’ll just give it to you.”
“And Dazhu is…” Yu Yi felt a tinge of uneasiness as he took the mask from the shop owner. There was something wrong with the mask! However, he didn’t know if this fox-shaped mask with intricate patterns would bring good or bad luck. The purposes of these items usually only revealed themselves after the instance missions. Just like the BrainLeaf Company, you would never know the true nature of your items and choices until the relevant information was unlocked.
“Oh, so you don’t know! Dazhu is the one who presides over our sacrificial ceremonies. As in, she’s the witch who dances to the Gods to pray for happiness,” said the woman. She looked around before whispering to Yu Yi, “You know. This year’s Dazhu is my daughter. She had agreed to wear the mask I made during her dance! Since I was overzealous, I made three of them. One for her, one for me to keep, and the last one, well, it’s for you.”
Good, so the new information about the mask had been unlocked. Looks like the effect of his charm was working well. Could this mask be a hidden item? Perhaps, it might be items that required large dice rolls to attain. Although Yu Yi didn’t know if it was good or bad, it would definitely prove to be useful.
“You’re so lucky to have such an impressive daughter.”
Yu Yi smiled genuinely as he complimented the woman.
“Haha, of course! She has always been my pride and joy! But…”

All of a sudden, the KP threw a hidden dice. No, not really, but Yu Yi wouldn’t know the results of the dice roll if it was an open dice throw. It was just that a 1-point dice roll was horrifying, as though a huge success was achieved.
“But I haven’t seen her since a few years ago,” said the woman sighing. “She disappeared from my sight the moment she was chosen to be the Dazhu. She had to study so that she can become a witch that can service the Gods or something like that. To be honest, I would rather that she stay peacefully at home. However, when she came back, she looked like she had been living well. She’s smiling more too, so I’m less worried now.”
OK, important information received. Thank you KP! This was a huge success. If he had rolled the dice himself, there was no way this effect could have happened!
“Don’t worry. She’s not only safe and sound, but she also became the Dazhu. You should be happy! Oh, this one and that one, I’m going to buy them as souvenirs. Oh, and this one too.”
He chose a few masks at random, so that he would not reveal the strength of his team. He bought eight of them in total.
In terms of game mechanics, him, Yatok, and Opaci had met each other in the sightseeing elevator. Since they haven’t been together since the start, no one could know Yu Yi’s number of teammates by inspecting the border control. Although the woman seemed like a good person, Yu Yi still had to make his precautions. If he bought only two masks, then he would likely be targeted and killed in one hit.
“Young man, you’re a nice person to talk to. I’ll give you these for free! They don’t cost that much anyway.”
The woman gave Yu Yi the masks generously. Yu Yi was glad as well. He only had 5000 dollars, so every bit of saving counted.
Yu Yi walked out of the hut with the fox mask in his hands. Silently, he remembered the location of the hut. This was not only an important place, but it was one with parachutes available. Yu Yi made a guess. Perhaps Dazhu, the ceremonial host, knew that something would happen, so she prepared parachutes at her home in advance. This way, if anything went wrong, she would be able to leave the place safely.
Witch, Sacrificial Ceremony, Dazhu, Celebrations, Long-Disappeared. Plot writers, you’ve shown your hand.
“But I still find the setting of Dazhu’s character strange! Was that a reference to Naruto?”
[Activated Automatically: Please do not complain about Dazhu. While writing the plot, the author was playing the game “Final Frame: Maiden of Black Water”. Thank you.
