The Indescribable Diary - Chapter 7
The red sky gradually fell into darkness, and the stars dotted the sky. Yu Yi wandered all over the old city and also took a tour of the citizens’ living areas.
However, the feedback was pitifully small, and perhaps, the biggest gain was that he found a place in the old city where a store was hidden and had a parachute and a fox mask. Although this mask was not known to be of any use right now, it must be useful in the future. That was for sure!
Yu Yi opened the map to compare. If he wanted to go to the ceremony square, then he had two ways. First go back to the library, then to the hotel. From the hotel to the shopping street, then he could get to the main square. The other was to go directly back to the old city, and then enter the ceremony square from the old city.
Yatok should be in the library now, while Opaci should be in the mall and the high-altitude observation area.
The whole map was incomparably detailed. However, there were some places that had not been marked. For example, the link to the grand square of the ceremony was in a black picture area next to the old city with an isolation zone written on it. He had no idea what this so-called isolation zone meant. There was a huge white marked area of wind armor to the south of the Floating Island. This area was accessible. Entering through the ceremony square, one could also enter the high-altitude observation area from the shopping street to the white area.
It said “Red Fog zone”. There was no introduction, but tourists were allowed to enter. However, access was only allowed during the day, and the area would be closed at night. Because of the ceremony, the area had recently been cordoned off and there was no way to enter.
According to the map, there were three suspicious places in the whole Floating Island.
The ceremonial square was made up of squares, and in the middle of the square was a high mountain or the squares were built around the high mountains. The vegetation on this mountain was so lush that it was almost impossible to see the whole view from outside, except for the looming shrine birdhouse and a lake from the mountain’s top view.
According to the available information, plus what KP revealed earlier, the author of the script was playing with the witches when he was writing the play. Probably affected by that, this mountain might be the layout of Sunrise Mountain… A stagnant lake connected to the abyss.
The ceremonial square was free to enter and leave, but the mountain, known as the Divine Forest’s Mountain, was off-limits to outsiders, as well as a black zone without any description, an exclusion zone, and a Red Fog zone. These three areas were probably the most suspicious areas of the Floating Island at present. The biggest problem was the isolation zone, which did not appear in people’s line of sight. It only appeared on the map and from the high-altitude view. The second was the Divine Forest’s Mountain. Finally, there was the Red Fog zone, which was open to the public before the ceremony.
After the survey of ordinary areas, the three main areas were these three.
KP said that this was a trigger-type instance. If nothing was done, it would lead to an average outcome. Nothing happened. To put it simply, it would be a very ordinary trip if the investigator did not trigger any plots. Events were not bound to happen, and they would only occur when an incentive happened.
This script was a very short script, which could be completed in three hours according to the fact that one day in the game was equal to one hour in the real world. The play was only three days long. However, if nothing was done, the end of going back home would be triggered the day after the end of the ceremony. Therefore, something must be done before the end of the ceremony.
Back in the old city, he spent 20 dollars for a simple dinner. Ten dollars was the cost of a miniature nuclear bomb. It could be said that Yu Yi ate the price of two miniature nuclear bombs at once, and thinking about it hurt him.
After the watch pointed to ten, Yu Yi entered the sacrificial square through the road just as he planned. There were so many people here that it was not too much to describe it as a sea of people. Fortunately, he already agreed on the meet up place with his two teammates. Otherwise they would not be able to meet up. So many NPCs were around, and he was upset about it.
After arriving at the agreed place, Yu Yi found that this place was not crowded. Perhaps, because it was too far from the sacrificial platform. At a glance, Yu Yi saw Opaci looking around while tiptoeing with the camera held high. His posture was really eye-catching.
“Ah, good evening, boss.”
After seeing Yu Yi, Opaci greeted him immediately.
“Don’t do anything strange to attract too much attention. Just call me Yu Xing by name. What about Yatok?”
I already looked around but there’s no sight of that doctor. He’s not squatting in the library, is he?
“I arrived half an hour ago and I haven’t seen him.”
Opaci shrugged, and his task was to follow ordinary tourists to other scenic spots, to conduct an investigation within the safe time described by KP, and to get useful information to help drive the plot. Opaci didn’t get much in the observation area nor the mall. The Red Fog zone was unaccessible. Though he originally intended to sneak in, his hiding ability was still at the beginning level. Whether it was sneaking or stalking, he didn’t have enough points to do it. Although he had a skill in disguise because he was an artist, there was no way to get clothes so he gave up.
At about 10:30, Yatok finally arrived. He pushed his way through the crowd and came to them.
“Sorry. I’m not late, am I?”
He seemed to be in a hurry. He probably had just come out of the library.
“Have you eaten yet? If not, there happens to be a booth over there.”
There were some snacks on the periphery of the square. Yu Yi wanted Yatok to fill his stomach first.
“Oh, I already ate on the way here. I didn’t expect to read the note in the library for so long. But I’m glad I’m not late, and I bought this.”
Yatok took several wooden masks out of his backpack. It was almost the same as what Yu Yi bought in the old city, and it was even more refined. The animal pattern on it looked lifelike. But these seemed to be just ordinary masks. Even if the carving was lifelike, it was just an ordinary wooden mask.
“It seems to be considered good luck to wear masks to attend the ceremony. I think a lot of people are wearing them, so I bought three.”
Yatok handed the mask to Opaci as he spoke. Yu Yi turned to look at the center of the sacrifice square. Sure enough, many tourists put on masks, and some of them took out the mask and were ready to put on.
“I bought some too. By the way, how much did these cost you?”
Yu Yi opened his backpack and signaled that there were seven or eight masks inside. He took out one of them and handed it to Yatok, motioning him not to wear what he had bought. It could also be regarded as a precaution.
“About four hundred. How about you?” as he put on the tiger mask handed over by Yu Yi, Yatok asked.
“About the cost of a portable miniature nuclear bomb.”
Yu Yi himself was wearing a fox mask that was a bit suspicious.
“Ha! Portable miniature nuclear bomb?” Opaci was frightened by Yu Yi’s words.
“Oh, ten yuan… Good appearance works well even in buying things.”
Yatok obviously knew what he meant. Among players who had paid attention to internal testing, the portable miniature nuclear bomb had become a unit to measure money.
