The Insatiable - Chapter 19
Haruhiro looked at where the spear came from and saw a person in white. He frown when he looked at this person, a person dressed in all white? Why does this look familiar to Haruhiro?
This person is as tall as Haruhiro and Sloth around 174 centimeters. He’s got white hair and blue eyes, unlike Haruhiro who’s wearing a gray hooded turtleneck sweater and Sloth who’s wearing a black trench coat. This person is dressed simpler as he is only wearing a white t-shirt and a pair of white pants.
His hair is tied into a ponytail, his blue eyes staring at both Sloth and Haruhiro. This person’s eyes as he looked at both Haruhiro and Sloth contains undisguised disgust. Not a hint of hatred because of some reason nor a hint of annoyance that his spear was dodged by the two. Just disgust.
It was like a how a person is seeing shit on the road, that is how he sees the two of them. Like shit.
Of course, this angered the two of them, so without even a single word the two attacked at the same time. They didn’t hesitate to kill since this person clearly wanted to kill them as well, the problem however is why?
Haruhiro returned the form of his shadows into tentacles, while Sloth finally drew his weapon. On his hand is another Nambu Model 60 handgun.
He shot it at the person in white, they both thought he wouldn’t be able to avoid it and indeed he didn’t dodge. A light appeared in the person’s hand and then a shield formed out of this light, blocking the bullet. The shield has no design and is just a plain round shield but the way it appeared astounded the two of them. They stopped their movements and became wary.
“Beings of Sins, disgusting Sins… Your existences bring this world into ruins. I’ve come to erase you both and return this world into its just path…”
The person paused as his shield disappeared and then he formed two broadswords by using the light that appeared in his hands. He then continued by saying, “Rejoice! For you, dirty beings shall be cleansed by my Light. With my blade, I shall bring you back to the right path, the path of salvation shall save your Sinful souls.”
The person in white then slashed at Sloth, Sloth jumped back in order to avoid the sword. He then pointed his gun at the person in white as he moved back, Sloth shot at the person in white. The person in white deflected it by using his other sword.
Haruhiro didn’t just simply stay still and watched the two battle, he stealthily moved at the person in white’s blind side. He took the chance right when the person in white deflected Sloth’s bullet. Haruhiro made his shadow attack the person in white. The shadow tentacles charged towards the person in white, three shadow tentacles attacked three different directions. His back and both his sides making sure that he wouldn’t be able to escape.
Haruhiro also made sure to prepare for any counterattack he might suffer from, clearly learning his mistake from before. He’s going to go straight for the head this time, Haruhiro is not that stupid to let something like the zombie shooting him from earlier happen again.
He remained vigilant, Haruhiro fixed his gaze on the other two.
The person in white noticed how Haruhiro sneaked an attacked and is even more disgusted with him in his heart, however, he didn’t let it show and instead made his move.
Light once again appeared but this time it didn’t stop at just his hands, the light almost engulfed the person in white whole.
The shadows then stabbed at the person in white, the light kept them from seeing what happened to him. However, they felt that no one could survive from such attacks.
“You think your puny darkness can stain my Light? Sinful creature, just keep on dreaming.”
They heard the voice of the person in white coming from the light, hearing what he said -they were alarmed. How could he have possibly survived from that? Is what they’re both thinking.
They moved away in case anything happened. Haruhiro moved his shadows to protect him and Sloth kept his gun pointed at the person in white’s direction. “This person is really weird,” muttered Haruhiro under his breath.
The light eventually receded and the person in white is once again visible. On his body are pieces of an incomplete armor. These pieces of armor are a close helm, a plate armor, and gauntlets. The plate armor is something called a bevor that matches his close helmet.
Like the shield, sword, and spear the person in white created before these new ones that appeared out of nowhere are also simple in design or does not have any design.
He almost got out of Haruhiro’s attack unharmed, almost. Since it seems that the person in white couldn’t fully create an armor and only protected his important parts, he suffered from light injuries.
It seems that the person in white knew Haruhiro is going to put all the strength of his attack into his head which is why he focused on creating the close helm.
Two out of the three shadows managed to hurt the person in white. One at the left shoulder while the other on his right thigh. The pieces of armor vanished and the person in white’s whole appearance could be seen again. Though not very easy to notice, Sloth and Haruhiro saw the sweat coming out of the person in white’s body and how he is catching for breath.
Clearly making pieces of weaponry and armor repeatedly like that does not benefit him at all. It means his stamina is depleting fast and once the battle lasts longer he’ll suffer more grievous injuries. The three of them knows that but it’s not like only the person in white is suffering from that.
Even Haruhiro who started the fight is at his limits. He’s been repeatedly using his shadows and even changing its forms to aid him in this battle. This, of course, drained him of his SPR attribute, a few more and he could already see himself fainting from the fatigue.
While Sloth is not completely out of worries himself, he could see that he’s outgunned in this battle. One can control his shadows while the other can create nothing from the light he produces. He’s not out of stamina like the two but he’s sure that if the two worked together, this won’t end well. He has confidence in fighting the two, one by one since he already knows the weaknesses of their abilities but having to fight the two of them with his outdated gun… Which is why he planned to retreat once again.
‘Next time I play with this monsters, I’m going to make sure to be prepared and not just have a gun,’ is what he thought in his head as he construct a plan for how he’s going to lose these two.
The three is now in a situation where their strengths are equally balanced with no one at a disadvantage or advantage. A Mexican standoff is what some would say.
The person in white moved first, he materialized a throwing knife and threw it at Sloth. This started the battle once again.
The person in white then turned around and run away. He decided that fleeing right now is the best choice, clearly, he overestimated himself. The two noticed this and knew they shouldn’t continue the fight themselves but obviously, they can’t just let him leave this place with a few injuries suffered, can they? Sloth dodge the knife thrown at him, while Haruhiro moved in order to block the person in white of his path of retreat by using his shadows.
Haruhiro gritted his teeth, he needs to keep himself from fainting. Two shadows blocked the person in white’s path while the other two moved in to attack him. He managed to avoid the two that attacked him only to feel another surge of pain coming from his thigh again. Haruhiro made the two shadows that were blocking the path earlier merge and did a sneak attack.
He then made his last shadow, the one that is still with him just now attack the slowly retreating Sloth.
Sloth noticed this a bit too late and is hit by the shadow tentacle, it almost stabbed right into his torso but he managed to move his body during the last second and the shadow tentacle only grazed him at the position of his right ribs. Though he managed to avoid death, this could still be considered a bloody mess.
