The Journey Of Yin And Yang - Volume 1 Chapter 79 Go I
In the years that followed, Yang would divide his time between eating, studying and cultivating. He was determined to train up his skills to match up against Yin. When he defeated her in both knowledge and combat, she would like him.
Just thinking of the future made him smug and sometimes he could be smiling foolishly during a meal as he thought of his crush. His family and friends would all shake their heads and say that he was way too lost to be saved.
His best friends Hot and Pot were amazed about the complete change in their friend. Yang used to be the laziest one among them and only had the patience to occasionally improve his cultivation. Now, it was almost impossible to drag him out to do something else.
When they for once managed to make him leave the Fire Palace, he still brought a few scrolls with him from the library. Their friend that used to be nicknamed the “Troublemaker” was now known as the “Nerd”.
They were traveling through almost bare landscapes. The ground consisted of basalt, andesite and rhyolite, since erupting volcanos were frequently seen in the area. Occasionally plants, which were specialized to live in this harsh environment, grew from the cracks in the firm bedrock.
“Come on now, Yang. Put away the damn scroll for once. Can’t you even wholeheartedly walk without feeling the urge to study?” Hot tried to convince Yang as the party of three was strolling towards the Land of Ashes. He was the eldest twin and almost identical to his brother Pot. The only difference was that he was a little bit taller.
“This is more time efficient.” Yang stated plainly as he kept reading about the arts of Go while keep moving forward.
“Damn nerd.” Pot ripped the bambu scroll from Yang’s grip.
“Hey, give it back, Pot!” Yang reached out for the scroll, but Hot immediately blocked him in order for Pot to create a greater distance between them.
“‘To know your enemy, know yourself. Find your weaknesses to be your strengths. Like in any other battle, Go require these fundamentals…’ What is this shit? It sounds like a training mantra or something.” Pot closed the scroll and threw it back at Yang, who immediately caught it with his hands.
“It’s not shit. It’s actually instructions and tips in Go written by the Four Realms’ most skilled Go player.” Yang defended the work and put it inside his mental storing space in fear of losing it.
“Yeah yeah, whatever.” The twins said in chorus and rolled their eyes.
“So Yin likes to play Go?” Hot asked after a while.
