The Journey Of Yin And Yang - Volume 1 Chapter 81 Ash Born Horses I
As they kept traveling, Yang was almost tortured to death by the twins’ teasing comments. He regretted deeply his decision to accompany them in their hunt for animals in the Land of Ashes. If not for them constantly nagging on him, he wouldn’t have left with them.
What’s more, Hot and Pot were yearning for adventure and the thrill of perhaps meeting something unexpected. Therefore they weren’t flying or teleporting to their destination. Instead they were walking by foot, which further aggravated Yang.
Suddenly, Yang stopped in his tracks, which alerted the twins. He indicated with a hand sign for them to be quiet, which immediately turned the situation serious.
The Fire Gods sharpened their ears and surely, the light sounds of something hitting the hard ground could be perceived. Based on the increase in the sound’s intensity, the creatures were moving towards them.
Without needing words to convey their thoughts, everyone left the ground and soured several hundred meters above the surface. From the sky, they had a clear view of everything below.
They could see that a horde of large black horses with red manes were running in a straight line towards the south. One horse was leading the others and was also the finest and sturdiest of them all.
“Ash-born horses!” Hot exclaimed in excitement.
Ash-born horses were of a rare breed of horses and were the trademark of the Land of Ashes. They were said to be among the fastest horses in the Four Realms. Furthermore, they were also highly resistant to the heat and could even run around in the magma without being burned.
“They truly are of a fine specimen.” Pot praised. His eyes lit up by an eager to conquer one.
“Yeah.” Yang nodded in agreement. It was his first time seeing Ash-born horses, but he had to admit that the descriptions of them in the books weren’t exaggerating their beauty.
“Let’s compete. Whoever first subdues the leader is the boss of the century. He will be allowed to command the others freely during the period.” Pot challenged as he rubbed his hands in exhilaration.
“I’m on.” Hot grinned.
“Let’s do it.” Yang cracked his knuckles.
“How should the order be decided?” Pot asked the other contestants.
“Everyone can at the same time stretch out his hand with the palm upwards or downwards. The one who deviates will begin.” Yang suggested.
“Then how should the second one be chosen?” Hot questioned as he lifted one of his eyebrows.
“Through ‘Rock, paper and scissors’.” Yang had learned of it as a common play in the Mortal Realm and thought that it would be practical at the moment.
“What’s that?” The twins had never heard of the game before.
“It’s something that the mortals use to amuse themselves. We can play three rounds. At each round, rock, paper or scissors is chosen.” Yang formed his hand to each of the alternatives as he mentioned their name.
“The rock wins over the scissors, the scissors triumph over the paper and the paper can defeat the rock. Understand?”
“Sounds simple enough.” Hot said.
“Of course.” Pot nodded.
“Then may the best win.”
